I'm not gonna lie, if it wasn't for this sub, Carly Rae Jepsen would probably still be to me "the Call Me Maybe girl" with a little serving of Good Time on the side. Of course, like pretty much anybody not living in a cave, i couldn't escape the absolute world-dominating monster hit that was Call Me Maybe*, but once (read: a good 4 years after it released) the radio dropped it, if for the gp Carly had faded back into obscurity, it wouldn't be the last time me and her crossed paths. Indeed, 2 years-ish ago, i was one way or another led to this sub, and who was here waiting to greet me ? None other than miss Rae Jepsen. Or rather, her horde of rabid gays spamming her everywhere and crowning her queen of the home of sexuals. Eventually, i fell under popheads' influence and decided to get out of the Call Me Maybe public pool and explore what was hidden in the "Gay Staff Only / General Public Out" locals, to discover the supposedly hidden gems all the whispers in the jacuzzi had been about. So i ran and i ran from doors to doors through rooms through rooms until i found myself out of the building, and i went in that order: E•MO•TION>Kiss>Dedicated>Tug of War>E•MO•TION: Side B>Curiosity>Dedicated Side B>Dear You. Well, she may have singlehandely raised r/popheads from desertic grounds (this is not a joke), but was her music able to lift me up to heaven too ? The answer is what i set out to find on this little backdoors trip, and so will you if you decide to read further and decipher the notes i took on my small adventure.

• Thoughts: There's really nothing to be said about Tug of War. It's a very small little collection of basic folk pop, sometimes bland, sometimes good. The most interesting thing it has going for it is how amusing it is to compare it to say, E•MO•TION or Kiss, and see how wildly different the original route Carly was on is compared to these two. And also how for the GP its presence

In this very special installment of this continuous series, we're gonna be ranking the work of r/Pophead's Mother Dragon, the one and only Carly Rae Jepsen, in preparation for her upcoming AMA here on our own very homosexual subreddit and the release of her upcoming 4th studio album, both happening on May 17th

If you wanna participate you just have to rate from 0-10 the Carly's tracks included in the Google Form featured below that I created for the specific purpose of this ranking.

This list includes all of her songs officially released from her studio albums (including bonus tracks) and some other loose releases here and there, including collaborations, covers and soundtrack appearances:

Kiss: X. A much better follow up album that gives the artist their first taste of mainstream success. It gets much more critical acclaim and secured a following for them.

I've searched tirelessly for the video. It was from a comedy fundraiser, I believe hosted by Jon Stewart, and I remember seeing it that night and it was absolutely hilarious. I've never been able to find it again, and anything I find in a Google search brings up a dead link.

i just saw her name and was reminded of her. what ever happened to her? call me maybe was HUGE. nobody could escape it. years later i know she released another song or maybe songs but they were not nearly as popular as her debut (i really like you was her next hit). did scooter braun drop her and the rest was history? i know justin had a lot to do with her success. i assume scooter uses his most popular acts to push his other acts just like he did with madison beer and justin’s cameo in her debut music video
