>! Hey guys, just wanted to point out something I haven't seen discussed on this subreddit yet, the name of the Calypso twins is actually a really cool reference to the Odyssey.
>! So basically, as Odysseus was returning from the siege of Troy, he comes across an island called Ogygia inhabited by a nymph named Calypso. Calypso enchants Odysseus, trapping him on the Island for 7 years until the gods ordered his release as it went against his destiny.
>! There's a lot of cool parallels here to the Calypso twins being trapped on Nekrotafeyo and unable to achieve what they thought was their destiny of opening the great vault.

The Short Trek Calypso is a 15-minute retelling of the story of Odysseusβs time with the Nymph (almost immortal demi-goddess) Calypso on her island of Ogygia, as told in Homer's Odyssey. But with less rape.
A soldier is returning home from spending years off fighting a far-away war he seems to have wanted no part in to begin with. He ends up shipwrecked on an island with a mysterious, powerful, yet ethereal non-mortal woman. She beguiles the soldier with her strange powers and knowledge. And even though he is mortal, and she is elf-kind not really a mortal being, she wants him to stay with her. But the mortal soldier misses his mortal wife and child and so she ends up helping him build a ship (good lord look at that subtle lip acting Aldis does) to continue his long, perilous journey home.
Now in the Short Trek Calypso we have a soldier returning home from- Iβm not going to do it, you get the joke. Its the same story, but with Star Trek stand-ins for the various players. But who those stand-ins are and what they represent can give us some more context. And Context... is kinda the point of this subreddit.
Craft first gives his name as Quarrel. Quarrel is a surname derived from the same word root as Quarry and refers to a family that lives near a stone formation - like a quarry. The island of Ithaca (the home Odysseus is on his way back to) consists of two large slabs of limestone. So anyone living there could reasonably have the last name Quarrel. Much like Odysseus disguising himself as a common beggar in a potentially dangerous situation, Craft basically gives his name as John Smith.
When he later gives his name as Craft itβs joked that itβs because he was so crafty. And while the classical Odysseus was indeed renowned for his intelligence and crafty ways the surname Craft actually has its roots in the old German word for Strong or Courageous. This association with strength led many middle-ages knights to assume Craft as their first name. Another common, anonymous name but this time for a sold

I have a fondness for uncommon names that arenβt too out there and also love Greek mythology. I adore the name Calypso, especially bc it also connects to my Caribbean heritage and bc itβs the name of a character I adored as a child.
I never seriously considered using it as a name for a child bc I felt it was a little too out thereβ¦ what do yβall thing? Is Calypso too out there? Should I just relegate it to middle name status if I have a daughter in the future? Or not use it at all? What are some similar alternatives?
There is no way she is responsible for 8+ kids and has time to sit around knitting.
Also what nursery has that much outside space. How much are they paying??
Just a heads up: Aqualung has an ongoing recall for their Calypso regulators since 30.12.2021

Hello! Welcome back to the Album of the Year 2013 series, our special throwback writing series where indieheads users discuss some of their favorite records of 2013 through their own unique perspectives as writers. Today we have u/stu_balls discussing Candy Claws' Ceres & Calypso in the Deep Time.
June 25th, 2013 - Two Syllable
Background by u/stu_balls:
Candy Claws was a dream pop duo formed in Fort Collins, Colorado in 2007 by Kay Bertholf and Ryan Hover. I first started listening to them in 2010, after my friend discovered their song Diving Knife on Hype Machine (really dating myself here). Their debut album In the Dream of the Sea Life, which was inspired by the environmentalist author Rachel Carsonβs book The Sea Around Us, combined dreamy soundscapes with aquatic imagery and a playful psychedelic shimmer. I was a massive Animal Collective fan at the time, so naturally I was enchanted by their sound.
From the beginning, Candy Claws displayed a fondness for exploration and inventiveness that is hard to find in the dreampop/shoegaze music scene. Case in point, the duo ditched their guitars and composed their second album Hidden Lands entirely on synthesizers that they did not know how to use before recording the album. The band describes Hidden Lands as a βmusical companionβ to the book The Secret Life of the Forest by Richard M. Ketchum, and the albumβs lyrics were composed by translating passages from the book from English to Japanese and back to English. This process simplified the dry scientific text into simple, poetic phrases that complement the ambient dream pop instrumentation wonderfully. The result was a gorgeous, gentle listen that evoked sun dappled forest floors and hazy beaches. I used to experience insomnia in high school, and I would listen to the song βIn the Deep Timeβ on a loop to fall asleep.
Candy Claws released their third album Ceres and Calypso in the Deep Time on June 25, 2013, the summer after my first year of college. This album came out during a particularly idyllic and carefree period in my life, and this album was the soundtrack to that summer for me. I consider Ceres to be an innovative album not just due to its concept and narrative, but because of its songwriting choices as well. Shoegaze is typically a melancholy and insular genre, but these songs feel genuinely

Anyone tips to make the most of my two pumps. I try to use a combination of both pumps.
Usually starting off with the Haakaa (mixed success, sometimes I'll get 40ml in 20-30mins, other times I'll get barely 10ml after an hour). Either way I never feel truly empty with the Haakaa alone. No idea why it's effective sometimes but not others. Any ideas?
During the day I use the Ardo Calypso and in a good session I'll get 120ml but it'll take at least an hour to feel completely empty so I only end up using it a couple of times a day when the baby is sleeping. I got smaller flanges from ardo which I think are the correct size but what's the best way to check? I've seen the instructions for power pumping, should I be breaking up the session rather than continuing to pump for so long in one go?
I try and massage to speed things up but I'm finding it tricky to massage without loosing suction (particularly with the Haakaa which makes a loud noise and startles the baby). I don't have the biggest boobs could that be why or am I massaging incorrectly?
I've been doing a lot of reading since finding this subreddit, it's a great help but some of the tips about settings and accessories aren't compatible with my pump or available in the UK. Is there anyone based in the UK that can recommend accessories you've found useful? I did see freemie cups are available and compatible with my pump so I'm ordering a set, hopefully it'll make it easier so I can pump when the baby is awake.
And in fairness I will give Bayek a pass since he creates the Hidden Ones.
I think that Assassin's Creed should focus on the Brotherhood much more, getting contracts and what it's like to actually be a part of the Brotherhood. With the current characters they are not assassins, they are just woven into the conflict.
Even with all the issues, I think Unity probably gives the best look at what the Brotherhood is like, and I'd love to see more of that.
Maybe in AC Infinity they will focus less on ISU Artifacts and more on the general conflict with the Order of the Ancients, maybe even go back to the founding of the Order.
