A list of puns related to "Burlington House"
Some background: -Want to live in the Burlington/Oakville area -most everything is selling for above asking. So selling around 1.4+. -we can only afford 1.3 right now -we can live with our in laws while we save so we can save around 5-7k per month
We are wondering if it would be smart to buy ASAP despite the crazy market or wait and save until we have a bigger down payment
Assuming everything is the exact same besides just location. Would you rather be right outside downtown Burlington or right outside downtown Winooski
I was a resident of Bellingham for nearly a decade with having somewhat recently moved to Burlington. I had made the post a while back about USDA loans and stuff. I still frequent the sub, because I still work and occasionally hang out around the city.
I feel as though I have noticed a lot of gripes lately and understandably so.
I wanted to throw out this idea to those looking to potentially move away, or might be in the market for a house, to check out Burlington. First things first, no city is perfect, and I'm not saying Burlington doesn't have it's fair share of issues. It does.
I find the commute to Bellingham rather nice (approx. 30 min) and I find being able to come and go from Bellingham rather than being immersed in it much more enjoyable. You can also catch a bus from the Chuckanut Park & Ride if that is more of your thing as well. Downtown Burlington (E Fairhaven Ave) is slowly starting to build up businesses again. The Trainwreck is still going strong and some new spots are opening up here and there as well.
Burlington still has less than 10K people according to the most recent census data, so you could still qualify for a USDA Rural loan if you meet all the other criteria.

I pitch this because the city is still small enough to get involved in City Council or other advisory boards that can have real impacts. And I still do come up to Bellingham to support the businesses there as well from time to time.
Disclaimer: I don't work for the city of Burlington, or USDA loans or even any real estate things. I am just a 30 something that feels connected and invested and am hoping to get more like minded individuals to see the potential in the city that I see as well. Also, we have some of the best taco spots I have ever hit up in my life. So come through, check it out. Hopefully we'll be neighbors one day!

Hi so me and my roommate believe we had a ghost encounter in our house here in Burlington. She was an old ghost woman. We were wondering if any other people had encounters in Burlington, since so many houses are historical and built in the 1800s. Share your stories!
Nearly 1 million for a 2 bed 1 bath shitbox. Right next to the busiest road that isn't the QEW. How is any young couple that doesn't come from a wealthy family supposed to be able to afford this? This is absolutely insane and incredibly depressing.
