My question to all hardworking police officers and protectorates out there. Do you ever watch British crime procedurals like midsomer and apply your own crime solving and experienced logic to the episodes or do you watch and say this is a load of crap.

Corsica wants Genoa out. Their president asks British for military support, which they do. In return Corsica gets decent self autonomy as a republic, but it becomes a British protectorate and essentially naval base. What changes?

Why did the British feel the need to combine Southern and Northern Nigeria Protectorates, instead of just offsetting the deficits of the Northern Protectorates with the South's, while still keeping both Protectorates separated.

Nigeria wasn't always a unified country. The British combined the North and South Protectorates to create what is modern day Nigeria. This was done in 1914. When Nigeria gained its independence, why was it so difficult for it be to split between ethnic and religious line only 50 years later?
