Bragg peak Puns

Hi, I need help with identifying if the following Landau and Vavilov distributions are the integrals that have to be used in a Monte Carlo simulation to generate a Bragg peak.

Also how to generate random numbers from the inverse of F and Fo as suggested in the paper below. I have to do this on Python 3. Any advice or guidance would be much appreciated. I am a rookie and just starting to do some groundwork for my course.

Hi guys,

I'm just a lowly pharmacist who is not used to these kind of calculations, so please bear with me ;)

I have measured SAXS curves of liposomes I prepared and have fitted the position of strong Bragg peaks that appear due to the lamellar structure. For further analysis I have to calculate the scattering angle theta via Bragg's law, which is no problem, but since my q-value (the position of the Bragg peak) has an error due to the fitting process, I would like to propagate that error for further calculations. I am a bit lost here though, due to the arcsin making an appearance.

The formula for theta is:

theta = arcsin(q*lambda/(4*pi))

lambda is constant (as are 4 and pi, obviously).

I have used this tool to know where I need to end up, but everything I've tried so far hasn't worked out, and since I have quite a lot of values I don't want to enter it all manually - also I want to know how to do it right.

I've found several sources stating the absolute error of f(x) is the absolute error * f'(x), with f'(x) being 1/sqrt(1-x) for arcsin, but I guess I'm too dumb to use this. I've tried:

ERR(theta) = ERR(q)/(sqrt(ERR(q)*lambda/(4*pi))) but ended up with results far from where I should be.

The closest I've gotten was just using the relative error of q as the relative error of theta, but I don't know if I'm allowed to do that in this case?

If anyone could help me out here, I would greatly appreciate it.

I can see that the range of the alpha particle is 37.7 mm. How can I find out what range the Bragg peak occurs at?

Hi all, I am interested in verifying my knowledge on what causes the Bragg Peak for Ions.

On my understading, I think of the situation as a metal ball rolling over a magnet. If the ball is rolling fast, then it doesn't slow down much, because it doesn't spend much time in the magnetic field, but if it is rolling slowly, then it slows down more, since it spends more time closer to the magnet. So if you have lots of magnets in a row, then the rate of deceleration of the ball increases as it passes more magnets.

Is this a good way to think about it, is there more then just the Electromagnetic Forces going on here, do the weak and strong forces play much of a part?
