A list of puns related to "Blaze of Glory (Justified)"
These things happen in threes, right? I wonder who is next.
We had two remaining members of our tribe online, our base was strong, for the second day in a row our enemies advanced. We held strong, 2 vs 6. We killed their godbreaker thralls, we dropped roofs so they would fall to their deaths. As they inched their way up, and as we could hear them outside our last 4 foundation thick walls to the interior. We restructured our base. Doors became walls, floors became mines. And every crafting station, every chest, was broken down and it's contents decayed. The only thing left was our altar with a bubble resonating from it. And at the last possible moment that was removed so they would not receive an arch priest. So after their 2 day battle, the hundreds of thrall of ours that they slew (yes hundreds) and the hundreds of acid, poison, explosives.... They got nothing in return.
Option one means something like a reincarnation spell or resurrection spell could still work if they are able to meet the conditions (still have the body, the material components, a person that can cast it, etc)
Option two means you get a badass meaningful death that has a big impact on the encounter, but there's no way you can ever come back from it by any means. Everyone gets a personalized blaze of glory: maybe the wild magic sorcerer has a magic cascade and magic storm rages, a cleric or paladin see their god who gives them one last breath to unleash their power. A rogue suddenly can't be seen on the battlefield until they jump out from their hiding spot, going wild with fury. A fighter gains their third and final wind and slams back into the battle, a barbarian sees a vision of their ancestors who watch as he is inspired by them to prove he has earnt his spot in the afterlife. Whatever it is should be charater driven and personal.
The impact of their blaze of glory will often be huge epically described damage, often putting their own body on the line for their friends. Sometimes it may be their relentless pounding damages the enemies armor (lowering AC), or a holy light as their deity comes to collect them (giving back their allies health), or even them getting the death blow as they are also struck down (if the enemy has low health)
I find that this makes the players feel cool and less saddened by the loss of their character, and it gives them a cool way to die rather than just bleeding out. It can also lessen the risk of a TPK as it can be fight changing. It's worth noting I only do this for characters the players have had a long time and are attached too, no spamming deaths for cool moments.
Any thoughts or feedback welcome
I'll start with Mega Man who took himself out with the double Mega Buster and tried to bring Astro Boy with him.
Stupid question but I'm trying to remember which episode has the Blaze of Glory running gag. Any help would be appreciated
Let's hear some fun 5th edition characters for me to reroll for next session.
Has anyone ever just had enough of a bad boss and told them what they think of them in no uncertain terms and walked out? How bad of an idea was it/do you regret it? Was it difficult to find your next job...
Oh yea... asking for a friend ...
