Hoping for a thread of sharing and caring regarding the great bison hunt.
I may have some tips to ensure great bison hunting.
-First of all, counter chance. As far as I know it's quite strong indeed, you can simultaneously take on several bison up towards 5-6 at a time with a high enough counter chance. Currently sitting myself at around 75% with buffs, and spear skill tree. High crit chance helps aswell and is very complimentary with counter.
-Focus on horns! they take up few slots and get you around 124 gold per horn, which is 62 gold per slot, pretty good.
-Remove sight reducing helmets! This will allow you to see further and have a high chance of spotting Bison. EDIT: Simply put them in your inventory, and equip them when fighting.
-Bait one or two with bows if you don't have a strong character. You can do this easily with high range bows or crossbows. Try to get as many shots as possible on them before they dash.
-Bleeding is key if you are a early game character. Use a bow to make one bleed and run/use dash abilites to keep distance while they slowly bleed to death. You can do this with up to 2 bisons at a time.
-When entering a zone move up and down, like a snake. This covers a lot of ground and lets you spot bison.
-Equip a backpack, let's you store 4 more horns.
-From personal experience I think Bison spawn more in the Top right, top left, bottom left, bottom right part of zones. Disclaimer, this is a theory and not proven.
If you have any tips, please post them, it's much apprectiated. This is a good tactic to gain extra gold while travelling zones as you're doing Tasks in Brynn. And might increase profits.
My wife and I went farming up some thick hides and I used the musket for the first time. Talk about nailing a game mechanic. We farmed there for a couple hours and it was one of the most satisfying game experiences that I've had in a LONG time.

Idk if this is a really ordinary thing or not as this is my first playthrough, but I spotted the white arabian while dealing the killing blow to the legendary white bison. I left the bison as he was and instantly went to lasso the white beauty and managed to tame her!!!
I was kind of flabbergasted, so unfortunately, I didn't take a screenshot.
Anyone else find the white arabian while hunting or doing something completely different? I'd like to hear some nice stories
I'm a ways into chapter two (I recently initiated Blessed are the Meek and have done a fair number of the optional missions) and still no sign of Charles' hunting mission. Is there something I'm missing? I find posts about other people not seeing it because they turned it down, but I'm pretty sure I haven't done anything like that. I don't seem to see Charles around the camp at all, in fact, and I think the last time I saw him was at the saloon in Valentine.
Apart from hunting with Charles, I cannot find any Bison to hunt, and i need it for the provisions satchel. I go to all of the places the map says Bison are but cant find any. Any suggestions?
I just lost about 5 hours of very tedious progress because I hunted the bison and found out later that not only did the compendium not register the Bison as "skinned" (despite me selling the pelt), I also did not receive the bison horn. I now cannot craft the trinket or skin the Bison and my compendium will be permanently and irreversibly incomplete unless I reload a much older save.
On PC, latest version.
