A list of puns related to "Biliary reflux"
4'11 - 95lbs - caucasian/middle eastern?
Around early November, I started getting horrible nausea/vomiting. It came in waves. Slowly got worse over time to the point where I would start each day with a quick purge of the bile in my stomach. PCP tried diagnosing me with Celiacs. Went on a very strict gluten free diet. Ended up going to the ER a few weeks later because my sugars became far too low along with even worse vomiting. Find out I have lost around 25 lbs in about two months at this point even though my weight has been about 118-123 since I was 16.
Decided to go to a GI doctor, he scheduled me for an endoscopy that same week with biopsies for h. Pylori and Celiacs. I have neither, so he put me on omeprazole, (which didn't help) and scheduled a HIDA scan for a month later. During the endoscopy, he said he saw no ulcers or anything of concern. When I went to get the HIDA they saw that I have biliary reflux, gallbladder function is normal. Gave me sucralfate 3x a day, which exacerbated the symptoms by causing foam in my stomach, so I got switched to famotidine 2x a day which does help the symptoms a bit, but I still feel like an invalid most days. Here's the thing, I've never had any sort of surgery, been fit most of my life. No other life affecting health problems, so what is causing my bile reflux??? Almost every source online states that it's usually a complication of surgery.
Now I don't know if this is relevant at all, but about a year ago that same PCP told me she had notice lymphadenopathy in my neck and groin. They did an ultrasound on my neck, they were 2x the "normal" size. They then sent me to do CT scan with contrast on my neck and everything looked normal so that was the end of testing for that. I think she may have thought I had some sort of lymphoma at first as I also have SEVERE night sweats and excessive bruising, but I guess I'm just getting older? Idk. I also apparently have a prominent bone island on my 7th anterior rib, just thought I'd throw that in there too as I've wondered if maybe it presses on my stomach/liver causing the bile?
My quality of life has decreased so much. Cooking was my hobby, now it's difficult for me to eat. Fear of leaving the house for too long as I've had to throw up in so many public restrooms at this point. I just feel like I'm too young for all of this, and I'm not sure how I'm supposed to start my life post college if I can't leave the house some days.
First some info: Iβm 16. I am 5β5 and weigh 269, but Iβm trying to lose weight so please donβt judge<3
Okay Iβm going to tell you guys my health issues recently. Back in September like every other two weeks I would have this terrible pain around 2-4 am, right below my chest like upper stomach would hurt so bad. Right before Halloween I went to the er and they did a ultra sound and said acid reflux and prescribed me medicine for 1 month. It went away until December. It was the week of Christmas and I had it like 3 days in a row which has never happened that much and it was much much worse! My stomach and back hurt so bad. For like two days my stool was light tan. If I felt pain coming on I took melatonin and omeprazole and I would wake up fine.
Sunday it happened again and I know this is stupid but I took 2 omeprazole 1 zantax and one acid reflux medicine the doctor gave me, then I ended up going to the er because the pain didnβt go away. There they did bloodwork and a cat scan and told me my liver and gallbladder was functioning abnormally. My diagnosis says abdominal pain, biliary colic, elevated liver enzymes abdominal pain, biliary colic, elevated liver enzymeβs. Ik I put stuff twice but thatβs how it is on the paper. Iβm confused why it says Biliary colic because they didnβt say anything about gallstones just that there was sludge. Also they said they didnβt think acid reflux and the doctor I saw today didnβt think acid reflux.
Iβm going to see a GI doctor soon because the er doctor told me to go to one as soon as I can but I donβt want to go! I think itβs a waste of time because my liver was probably functioning weird because of the amount of medicine I took. I donβt want to look dumb and them just tell me Iβm fat, so what do you think?
Hello all,
I'm one of those unfortunate souls that was diagnosed with Biliary Dyskenisia. I tolerated for over 20 months and finally decided, after diet and meds didn't help, to get my gallbladder removed. It wasn't a decision taken lightly but I was hoping it would help my constant pain.
I had surgery on Thursday, and pain was painful but slowly has gotten better over the ifrst few days, and d I took tramadol three times. Now, when Sunday rolled around, I got my first BM. I was excited because I hadn't had one since Wednesday. After the first solid BM, I got watery yellow diarrhea and my stomach began to feel like I was suffering from gastritis. I had 3 diarrhea BM and thought it was the greasy soup I ate.
Now, it's Monday and I woke up and my first BM was yellow diarrhea. I've now I had diarrhea all day long and can only keep toast and crackers down. If I try to eat anything else, like a fried egg, I get diarrhea. Now I feel like I also have acid reflux and my stomach is burning and tender.
I'm going to reach out the surgeon but I'm unsure it would be of any real help. I wanted to see if anyone had any issues like this and what they ended up doing.
I'm terrified that I did the wrong thing and now I will suffer for the rest of my life. I only feel slightly better in that my gallbladder was inflamed and red when they removed it, chronically inflamed.
So I was really missing coffee recently, I like the bitterness and hot drink. Iβve tried a lot of other things but nothing compares (or a few fruit teas that are just as bad somehow). I heard recently matcha tea has a similar bitterness to it and doesnβt cause gerd to flare up? I have biliary reflux as well so balancing the two (no fat+ no acidic) is horrible. Iβm defo willing to the it if it is ok but has anyone ever had it? If so did you feel it made it flare up? Iβm highly sensitive now and because of the bile instead of just pain Iβll start vomiting, it sucks. I am terrified of trying new things so wanted to know how other sufferers felt about it.
Hi all, just wanted to post my experience with hyperkinetic gallbladder as I've had a hard time finding information about it and hope this can provide insight for those googling in the future. I am located in Ontario, Canada, where hyperkinetic is unheard of.
I am scheduled for laparoscopic cholecystectomy this Friday. I will make updates in this thread as I recover. I've weighed all my options and believe removal is worth the possible improvement in my quality of life.
My story, as briefly as possible:
So Iβve had gerd forβ¦ a long time.. Iβm 27- had gerd when I was an infant (it didnβt go away) so also had when I was a child and was medicated, got off it for a while until puberty (not sure ages but not for long) then it came back, because why not. Was βcopingβ with h2 receptors gaviscon ect. and then my gallbladder decided to up and quit on meβ¦ it wasnβt even paying rent to live in my body and threw a hissy fit for no reason so after I got really sick I had a surgeon rip the infected thing out of me. I was put on Omeprazole when I first got sick and then changed to lansoprazole after that cuz it wasnβt working for whatever reason. Still on it at 30mg.
So now I also have biliary reflux, isnβt that nice- anyways 1 billion vomit sessions later and sobbing that even PPI arenβt strong enough to help me- I got an endoscopy (that I didnβt ask for) because I randomly choke on my food now and hoarse voice ect. I chose not sedated because Iβm a savage and I wanted the results while I was there not - in a few months when nhs gets around to it. Looked good mostly but they took some biopsyβs (that was a few months ago and βshockinglyβ Iβve heard nothing about it sinceπ I hate nhs) anyways, they confirmed diagnosis because my doctor wouldnβt believe that a gerd sufferer, who had their gallbladder out recently, would get bile in the reflux too. Amazingly I was right- I know you must be thinking to yourself- omg! A gerd sufferer who was diagnosed years ago might actually, possibly, know that hey-o if I have lots of acid coming up into my mouth all the time, then bile starts dumping into my stomach- it might also come up too.
So after I proved to my doctor that the major vomit sessions and increasingly terrible symptoms are because now my gerd is worse and I also have biliary reflux, can you guess how they helped me? If you guessed that the doctor helped by doing absolutely nothing then you would be right! I wanted my dose to be increased or something- 40mg helped more than a measly 30 not that it would fix me but hey a girl can dream.
So I made an appointment to talk to my doctor (because they wonβt see any patient in person now itβs only phone now) itβs over a month wait and considering my doctor straight up said she has never in her life heard of anyone be diagnosed with biliary reflux after gallbladder removal (wtf) I doubt she will do anything.
Did I say I hate the healthcare system in U.K.? Well I do. Iβm from America and have been through some terrible

First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
35F. 5'2" 145 pounds. White, pain in my side has been going on for 4? years. Extends to my back and shoulders sometimes. No medications, began smoking weed (prescribed) last year.
Went to doctor with pain in my upper right abdomen while I was pregnant in 2018, doc said it is just because you're pregnant, sent me on my way. It also was numb in that area when I was pregnant if it didn't hurt. I did have gestational diabetes. Had baby, pain still there. 2019 Doctor told me it was shingles "that did not show a rash" and sent me on my way. 2020 I went in again and they just did blood work to make sure I wasn't diabetic, not so sent me on my way.
Now it's 2021, I go in January because pain is now constant dull ache, I have greasy? bowel movements, hot flashes/night sweats, and I have had extreme nausea on occasion in the evening before bed. Also lots of burping/acid reflux? They did order a full blood panel, everything normal, so she prescribed an antiacid and sent me on my way.
Just went back last week and begged for gallbladder ultrasound. Got the results last week and the doctor isn't ordering me for additional bloodwork or reviewing ultrasound until next week and will only discuss results at follow up (which is before the new bloodwork) next week. I have two small kids and I am freaking out. Can anyone give me any insight on results below? Should I immediately alter my diet?
Thank you in advance!
IMPRESSION:
Single tiny gallstone in the gallbladder lumen without secondary findings of acute cholecystitis. Unremarkable liver.
Coarse, heterogeneous liver with mild increased echogenicity. Findings suggest abnormal liver function, may indicate steatohepatitis. Correlate with LFTs.

... keep reading on reddit β‘Hi all, so I have GERD, got a cholestectomy a bit ago and guess who has bile reflux now too? (hint: itβs me). I told my doctor hey I think I have biliary reflux because I know I have gerd and because I just had my gallbladder removed the bile attacks I had were kinda similar. My doctor said, no joke, that she has never heard of anyone having biliary reflux before (in a snobby I donβt even think it exists voice ofc) So she sent me to a gi doctor who did an endoscopy to check for damage ect. (I have been choking a bit in food as well) Ofc gi doctor said yeh u have biliary reflux with your reflux.. itβs very common to have bile in there and sufferers of reflux can get bile too. So yah duh I have bile reflux too lol. Iβve been on lansoprazole for a bit now (omeprazole didnβt work for me idk why) I have obvious stuff like reduced fat and no saturated ect. Plus all my gerd stuff already. But I still get nauseated all the time plus the horrible pain ect. Honestly bile is worse than normal reflux ugh.
What medications did you go on to help with it? I have heard people say bile salts but what even is that? Something otc or prescribed?? I doubt my doctor will because apparently bile reflux doesnβt exist hard eye roll I really need some advice on what worked for you guys. It might go away eventually or it might not but for now itβs dreadful :/
I have had bouts of stomach issues here and there (just thought it was bad acid reflux or intolerance to some food) but during the last week of July I started waking up really nauseous and had diarrhea almost every morning but it would usually go away early afternoon. I also had discomfort/slight pressure my left side so I thought maybe it was my spleen. I had so many tests done - covid, pregnancy, multiple blood tests, stool sample, ultrasound of my thyroid and my spleen/left kidney, CT scan, all came back fine. Last week I had a HIDA scan and have have an ejection fraction of 21% and told it was biliary dyskinesia. Everything that Iβve read up on mentions excruciating pain and horrible vomiting but Iβm generally okay for the most part, aside from some discomfort and acid reflux. I was still referred to general surgery since ejection rate is so low and the possibility of issues in the future. Surgery is scheduled for next Tuesday. All this to say has anyone had a low ejection rate with minimal pain but still had surgery?
[Edited to fix spelling/grammar mistakes]
I have a single mobile gall stone 1 cm in size and was also diagnosed with bilary dykensia with an ejection fraction of 26%. I have never experienced pain in this area before until finding out about this, the stone was discovered by accident after i went for chest pains muscle related. I suffer from health anxiety and have been thinking about it since. A few times I visited the ER because i felt a slight pain and thought my stone was stuck all times blood work and ultrasound was normal. Visited again recently because i was feeling nauseated and bloated, burning pain across below rib. The blood test was normal and doctor said if the stone was even stuck briefly the blood work would be elevated. I have been feeling the pain still and anxiety has been making me think the worse.
I did see two surgeons, one told me the option was up to me since, the stone was two big pass into my duct and get stuck, and none of the tests showed any signs of inflammation and my anxiety together with gerd could be the cause of some of the symptoms.
The other told me remove it since im in my 30's and could get another stone in the future that get stuck.
I have been feeling pain again since and bloated, but also suffer from acid reflux. One doctor at the ER told me to only come back if i get fever, severe pain and yellow eyes.
One doctor the multiple i visited the ER said even i was experiencing biliary colic, where the stone briefly blocks and then moves out blood work would be elevated by mine is always normal.
Alot of great jokes get posted here! However just because you have a joke, doesn't mean it's a dad joke.
THIS IS NOT ABOUT NSFW, THIS IS ABOUT LONG JOKES, BLONDE JOKES, SEXUAL JOKES, KNOCK KNOCK JOKES, POLITICAL JOKES, ETC BEING POSTED IN A DAD JOKE SUB
Try telling these sexual jokes that get posted here, to your kid and see how your spouse likes it.. if that goes well, Try telling one of your friends kid about your sex life being like Coca cola, first it was normal, than light and now zero , and see if the parents are OK with you telling their kid the "dad joke"
I'm not even referencing the NSFW, I'm saying Dad jokes are corny, and sometimes painful, not sexual

How the hell am I suppose to know when itβs raining in Sweden?
Tests so far:
1- CT scan in 2019 - Clear, only finding is fecal matter in small intestines.
2 - Endoscopy and Colonoscopy with biopsies: clear, only finding was mild reflux esophagitis, taking a ppi for that.
3- Hida scan: clear, but I also removed my gallbladder in 2007, guess GI was looking for a leak or some other biliary issue
4- Upper right Ultrasound: clear, no fatty liver, everything normal. Pancreas obscured by gas, but parts seen are ok.
5- Chest Ct scan: in ER while having shortness of breath issues, also clear, both lungs and visceral organs.
I am thankful nothing serious was discovered, but at a loss at the cause of my severe symptoms over the last three months: mid back pain, moving to right and left, shortness of breath and generally feeling like shit. Also really bad bloating and some constipation. and fast heart rate. Things have improved over the last month but I am terrified it will happen again.
Question is, what do I do about it? IBS, fine, but I still need to treat it. I guess I will make yet another appointment. Also, I will accept an SSRI this time around, I cannot live like this,
Ants donβt even have the concept fathers, let alone a good dad joke. Keep r/ants out of my r/dadjokes.
But no, seriously. I understand rule 7 is great to have intelligent discussion, but sometimes it feels like 1 in 10 posts here is someone getting upset about the jokes on this sub. Let the mods deal with it, they regulate the sub.

Don't you know a good pun is its own reword?

It really does, I swear!
I could really do with some advice. Quick background: Iβm 46F, have had IBS since I was about 12 and started having upper GI problems after the birth of my second child (20 years ago). Three different endoscopies showed hiatus hernia and GERD, along with mild oesophagitis and very mild gastritis. Last September I started to feel absolutely awful. Constant heartburn, pain right between my boobs, chronic cough, burning larynx/pharynx and ear pain. Saw a gastro and got an endoscopy in April and got biopsies. No H-pylori, nothing worrying at all. Just a little bile reflux and very mild oesophagitis. No sign of the hiatus hernia! But this just doesnβt explain the pain Iβm in. He agreed to send me for a gallbladder scan, as I know from a previous scan about 12 years ago, that I have three stones in there. He said he wouldnβt want to remove it though, as it will make my IBS worse. Everything went a bit wrong because they found a tumour on my kidney. So that was a few weeks of biopsies and waiting for results. Thankfully itβs benign. I was sent to a pancreatic/biliary surgeon and he was only interested in taking out my gallbladder and refused to discuss my other GI issues. Also wasnβt interested in my IBS fears. He also said not all my pain symptoms are indicators of gallbladder problems. So he left it with me that I could elect to have it out. So I have decided to go back to my original gastro and press him to check again for hiatus hernia, because I feel like Iβm on fire inside all the time. My biggest question to you guys is: does anyone have mild to moderate pain in their back, between the shoulder blades? And do you often feel nausea? Iβve read on the internet that pain between the shoulder blades can happen with hiatus hernia. Meds wise Iβm on 20mg nexium twice daily and Gaviscon Advance 4 times daily. Theyβre not helping. Just would appreciate some advice. X

And I don't mean the usual "your TSH is okay, so no need for further testing" bulls**t lots of so-called medical professionals stick to.
What I mean is at least Free T4, Free T3, and TSH. I've had done enough GI tests and procedures, was prescribed PPIs (made me feel even worse), prokinetics, and other crap with dubious results and lots and lots of side effects. Then I discovered I had an underactive thyroid with normal TSH but borderline-low FT4 and FT3. Had to make changes to my lifestyle (less stress and vigorous exercise), diet (less sugar, simple carbs, and ditched added iodized salt and kelp supplements), and now I expect things to get better over time.
If you also have some symptoms like:
cold sensitivity
dry skin/hair, dandruff
yellowing tint (carotenemia)
wight gain/loss
anxiety, depression, sleep issues, insomnia, mood swings
low libido
low body temperature and heartrate
slow digestion, biliary dyskinesia, constipation, fatty stools
high blood sugar and cholesterol
go and get the tests. Below is a very informative and succinct article on the subject, by the way:
