A list of puns related to "Biliary colic"
Hi everyone! Hope you are doing well <3
I had a biliary colic 3 days ago, not the first time (as it has happened 2 times before) but certainly the worst. I even had to go to the hospital at 5am because I honestly wanted to die lol.
They used 3 different medicines and it only calmed my gallbladder at 9:30 am approximately. The problem is that since then, I do not have problem at all while I'm resting, but once I move or I just walk, I feel like my gallbladder fell and it is just moving up and down ΒΏ? and I do not know how normal is that.
Has something similar happened to you guys? And if it did, what did you do to make it stop at least a little?
Thank you so much in advance!
I keep seeing these terms used interchangeably. Are they the same thing?
Hey all,
Just wanted to share my story. A year and a half ago I started to have horrible heartburn, burping, stomach upset, breathing issues, esophageal spasms, ear pain, etc. Doctors diagnosed me with GERD and wanted me to take PPIs. I tried several PPIs but every single one made me feel worse. Ranitidine ended up helping, though. I also ended up with esophagitis grade B. I went on a highly restrictive diet, took ranitidine, and nortriptyline for esophagus nerve issues, and things veeery slowly got better. I did a bunch of tests which revealed that I did not actually have GERD, and doctors basically told me I had a functional disorder, ie they don't know what's going on/I'm doing it to myself through anxiety. I started getting increasing problems again and then started getting excruciating pain in my abdomen which my GI doctor just dismissed.
Long story short, I actually had gallstones which were causing biliary colic and all manner of digestive issues. I had my gallbladder surgically removed 2 months ago and so many of my problems have resolved. So, if you have GERD symptoms but no answers, it could be a gallbladder issue!
Hello r/AskDocs. I was wondering if I could get a few medical opinions regarding my gallstone situation. Every time I eat something, it seems like a 70/30 chance that I'll get INTENSE abdominal pain.
I seem to have gotten this whilst on Keto and Intermittent Fasting for two years.
I'm 23 and male.
I don't know if I should remove them, or try to get them dissolved.
What could happen if I get them removed? Should I opt to dissolve them? Is it possible? And how?
I just want to eat again!!
Thank-you so much!
A bit of context - I was presenting a case to a radiologist for an U/S of a patient (on a separate issue) who incidentally described a fairly typical 'biliary colic' with a couple of hours of steady recurrent RUQ pain typically at night after dinner.
I hesitated using the phrase biliary colic at which point the radiologist asked why I didn't simply say he had biliary colic - I replied 'Well, biliary colic isn't real colic is it?'
He threw me a quizzical look and said of course it is.
Uptodate and my internal medicine knowledge suggests that 'colic' - a pain that waxes and wanes, does not apply to 'biliary colic' which is often used as a misnomer: other students suggested that surgeons/internists have different definitions of biliary colic, but I have yet to find a source that really highlights this difference...
A bit of a minor point, but it has been gnawing my mind so I would appreciate a bit of illumination!
Iβm 25 weeks pregnant and diagnosed with biliary colic stemming from gallstones π₯³. My doctor is recommending that I manage this with diet until baby is born, after which point surgery is more of a favorable option.
Iβve been given very little direction on how to go about this diet change, which Iβm attributing to Covid-related health care capacity strain. Just a βeat low fatβ recommendation is what I was given, followed by a βcall us or go to the ER if it gets worse.β
Have any of you managed gallbladder issues through diet changes during pregnancy? If so, what were your go-to things to eat? I want to give baby as much nutrition as possible while keeping my gallbladder as calm as it realistically can be.
For now, chicken breast with veggies and brown rice are on the menu. I would appreciate any and all low-fat meal ideas anyone has to offer.
Thanks!
Looking for advice, solidarity, and hearing from people with similar experiences.
Iβm 25 weeks pregnant and have had an uneventful pregnancy until now. I developed some excruciating upper right quadrant pain this weekend following meals, and it was truly the worst pain Iβve ever endured. If it werenβt for the fact that local hospitals are short staffed and already inundated with the omicron surge, I would have gone to the ER (despite being vaxxed and boosted, I want to avoid this variant). Since baby was still moving and I was still okay overall, I called L&D instead and after a series of questions they stated it sounds like biliary colic caused by gallstones. No other red flags (eg fever, vomiting, reduced fetal movement) present thankfully, so they suggested I cut out as much fat as possible and follow up with my OB this week.
Iβm feeling overwhelmed and scared and Iβll do whatever it takes to help my sweet baby girl stay safe and sound in my belly until itβs time to come out.
Have any of you experienced gallbladder drama while pregnant and managed through dietary changes? What foods were your go-toβs?

I will try and keep this short as I have spent most of the day in pain and crying.
After a few weeks of discomfort I had what was later diagnosed as biliary colic, when I had 10+ hours of throwing up and the worst pain I had ever felt in my life in my abdomen. I was sent home with Panadol and later diagnosed with gallstones via ultrasound. The report says βa multitude of stones in excess of 15mm, gallbladder significantly inflamedβ
I have since been to the ER 4 total times each time with attacks that last 12+ hours, I will often throw up uncontrollably to the point blood starts appearing in my bile, and the pain is so severe I canβt do anything but cry and moan in pain. Each time I am told to go home. The last time I also had trouble urinating for several days and when I could urinate my urine was dark orange and smelled foul. I was diagnosed with a kidney infection but told it was at the tail end and they couldnβt do anything about it.
My doctor sent a referral to a surgeon for gallbladder removal and it was denied on the basis my symptoms arenβt βsevere enoughβ but I have talked to 4 different people who have had either emergency or scheduled laparoscopic surgery for gallbladder removal and they all say their symptoms werenβt as severe as mine and they didnβt have to wait as long.
I have been given oxycodone which made my pain even more severe and made me throw up a lot, so my doctor changed me to tapentadol which didnβt alleviate my pain. Ondansetron helps with daily nausea (I am nauseous almost 24/7 now) but doesnβt help during attacks. My attacks are seemingly random, up to twice a week, and will often happen if I havenβt eaten in over 12+ hours. I am on a low fat diet and it hasnβt helped.
I have a constant ache in my side 24/7 and canβt think of a single second in the past 6 months where I havenβt been in pain. I throw up multiple times a week. I have started hating my life because I just canβt live this way.
What do I do? Every time I go to the ER they tell me to go home and take Panadol and sleep it off but Iβm in so much pain all I can do is cry. I have broken multiple bones and the pain was nothing compared to this. I have also been advised to lose weight but I used to weigh 260lbs and my attacks started when I was in the 220lbs range and my symptoms have only worsened with weight loss.
First some info: Iβm 16. I am 5β5 and weigh 269, but Iβm trying to lose weight so please donβt judge<3
Okay Iβm going to tell you guys my health issues recently. Back in September like every other two weeks I would have this terrible pain around 2-4 am, right below my chest like upper stomach would hurt so bad. Right before Halloween I went to the er and they did a ultra sound and said acid reflux and prescribed me medicine for 1 month. It went away until December. It was the week of Christmas and I had it like 3 days in a row which has never happened that much and it was much much worse! My stomach and back hurt so bad. For like two days my stool was light tan. If I felt pain coming on I took melatonin and omeprazole and I would wake up fine.
Sunday it happened again and I know this is stupid but I took 2 omeprazole 1 zantax and one acid reflux medicine the doctor gave me, then I ended up going to the er because the pain didnβt go away. There they did bloodwork and a cat scan and told me my liver and gallbladder was functioning abnormally. My diagnosis says abdominal pain, biliary colic, elevated liver enzymes abdominal pain, biliary colic, elevated liver enzymeβs. Ik I put stuff twice but thatβs how it is on the paper. Iβm confused why it says Biliary colic because they didnβt say anything about gallstones just that there was sludge. Also they said they didnβt think acid reflux and the doctor I saw today didnβt think acid reflux.
Iβm going to see a GI doctor soon because the er doctor told me to go to one as soon as I can but I donβt want to go! I think itβs a waste of time because my liver was probably functioning weird because of the amount of medicine I took. I donβt want to look dumb and them just tell me Iβm fat, so what do you think?
- Ketamine Harm Reduction -
So I wanted to write this because I am now in recovery and a shift in my mental state wants me to help others struggling with addiction not damage their physical and mental health.

Nasal Cavity / Olfactory System
Taking Ketamine by sniffing it (insufflation) can wreak havoc on your nose, this is well known amongst drug users. You can end up with a perforated septum, damaged olfactory nerves (sense of smell loss) and permanent congestion.
Ways to mitigate damage:
Upper Abdominal Pain
Ketamine has been known to cause extreme pain in the upper abdominal area of the torso. In my opinion this is one of the worst pains associated with ketamine use. Pain can be felt around the solar plexus area (slightly to the right hand side of the body.) It is very similar to having a gallbladder attack.
More research needs to be done around what causes this but in theory it is caused by ketamine slowing down the digestive system leading to biliary colic (blocked gallbladder duct).
I would like to add, once this pain comes on, the only thing you can really do is ride it out.
Ways to mitigate damage:
Stomach Pain
Ketamine is known to cause a burning sensation in the stomach, this feels similar to a stomach ulcer and can be very uncomfortable. I know that ketamine can strip away at your protective lining in the stomach causing stomach acid to irritate the wall of your stomach leading to ulcers etc.
Ways to mitigate damage:
Urinary Tract / Kidneys
Most Ketamine users know that using ketamine runs the risk of damage to their kidneys and urinary tract. The kidney damage co

It truly felt like I was having a heart attack. Severe abdominal pain that stabbed straight through my back and made all my muscles tense up and it made me feel horribly nauseous and constipated. In the beginning I was having the attacks very in frequently but the as time went on they became more frequent (1-2 times a week). Well as of a little over a month ago I dedicated myself to just eating chicken and rice and the pain didnβt come back, but if I ate something out of the norm or a little too much I would have biliary colic. I am one day post op and feeling much better than yesterday. I felt as though I was having a mini attack all yesterday because of the pain. But after rotating ibuprofen, Tylenol, and dilaudid and sleeping with 2 heating packs I woke up feeling better. Also with taking gas x around the clock. I know itβs a tough surgery but I just know itβs worth it. I was actually able to eat a fuller (semi plain) meal last night. Wish I did it sooner!!
Hello Reddit,
Sadly my English is not good enough to write a Text this long so i had to write it in my Mother Language and use Google Translate.
I hope its still readable and someone can help me.
I have some health problems that have just ruined my life and even cost me my job.
Since the winter of last year I have nausea. It usually appear 2-3 hours after a meal. My doctor prescribed esomeprazole becaude he assumed i have increased gastric acid, which helped against the nausea a little. A gastroscopy and ultrasound showed nothing.
In May it started that I got a Tension in my right upper abdomen which I felt quite strongly while walking, which was very uncomfortable. At the same time, my nausea was so bad that I could only eat rusks for two weeks. My stool sample showed low pancreatic elastase. The value should be 200 and was 150 if I remember correctly. My doctor prescribed digestive enzymes which unfortunately did not help. Then I stopped eating fried food and still had attacks every two weeks that only allowed me to eat biscuits, which lasted 1-2 weeks and i started getting stomach pains, like a rock is sitting in my abdomen. My doctor then tested my stool for histamines. My intestinal inflammation levels were increased a little and my histamine level:
Hist normal value: <600 ng / g
My hist value: over 15000 ng / g
So I began a low-histamine diet, which went well for about 3 weeks. So good that I stopped taking esomeprazole. 4 days after i stopped taking esomeprazole, I started to get stron tension in my Abdomen with movement dependent pain.
I couldn't stretch or breathe deeply and was completely restricted. I made an appointment with the doctor but had to wait for 3 days. On the day of my appointment, I had breakfast with a bread roll with some cream and 30 minutes later it started. I got extreme unbearable pain in the back where the gallbladder is and in the right shoulder blade, so bad that I cried and sweated. I went to the emergency room and my gallbladder was slightly swollen and there was a stone in the bile outlet. My inflammation values ββ(C-reactive protein) were over 200 and the Ct showed that my colon was severely inflamed. I was in the hospital for 6 days and was treated with antibiotics for 10 days.
My inflammation values ββwere normal again after the 10 days and I have an appointment in December for a preliminary talk for an operation to remove my gallbladder.
I was told to eat a fat-free diet, so now I eat light carbohydrat

i went to the emergency room after having intense pain in my upper right side (im assuming it was a gallbladder attack, doctor mentioned biliary colic). i felt some pain in my chest as well, and it was a bit difficult to breathe or move. they ran some tests, i stayed overnight, did an ultrasound in the morning, they said it looked better and i wouldnt need emergency surgery but that i should contact a surgeon because ill probably need it out.
i wanna tell you all my symptoms that ive been experiencing for 6 months before this. nausea has been the biggest problem, almost everyday at varying degrees of intensity since i ate a (bad?) burger on may 29th (related? not sure, but worth mentioning i guess in the case that this all was brought on by some type of food poisoning?). some abdominal pain as well. also some constipation issues, with feelings of trapped gas that feels⦠narrow? when it comes out? same with pooping⦠sometimes feels narrow⦠sorry lol.
after the initial burger induced nausea faded, i thought i felt better, but a week later it got super intense again and i went to the ER where they immediately assumed it was my gallbladder. did an ultrasound and nothing. went home with pepcid. a few weeks later i go again, this time no tests are run, and i go home with no answers. go to my primary doctor and get told to eat salads. go to a new doctor who orders a stool sample after guessing it could be h. pylori. test was negative. still no answers. so im dealing with nausea, some abdominal pain, and some weirdness with my bowels (gas and constipation). (also had blood in my stool twice in the last two months⦠which ive never had before i dont think?)
i have to call the surgeon tomorrow but im worried. im scared that this is too much information? tried to be straight to the point here but this post is already so long even after several edits. sorry.
btw, 20 year old female. about 5β2β. about 220 lbs. white/latina.
basically im worried about how to get this information across, or that my gallbladder isnt even the (main) issue here, that things might get worse or something⦠im scared i wont be taken seriously, that i might end up getting a surgery thats completely unnecessary all because i dont know how to be listened to.
just wa
... keep reading on reddit β‘Hi all, just wanted to post my experience with hyperkinetic gallbladder as I've had a hard time finding information about it and hope this can provide insight for those googling in the future. I am located in Ontario, Canada, where hyperkinetic is unheard of.
I am scheduled for laparoscopic cholecystectomy this Friday. I will make updates in this thread as I recover. I've weighed all my options and believe removal is worth the possible improvement in my quality of life.
My story, as briefly as possible:
I had my first kid on August 2rd of this year. (Yay!) About a week later, I experienced the most severe and excruciating pain of my life. Literally worse than labour - at least contractions go away after theyβre done until the next one! My husband took me to the ER with our baby in tow in the middle of the night. I live 55km (34 miles) from the nearest hospital as I live on a farm in a rural area, so the drive felt like forever especially on the bumpy shitty highways we have around here.
A couple days later I got an ultrasound and they saw stones but none in the common bile duct. Over the next few weeks until the end of September, I had at least 20 attacks, 9 of which I went to emergency for, and 6 of which I was admitted into the hospital. It was literally every 24 hours. Because of pregnancy complications (preeclampsia) my liver function blood work was all wonky so the doctor was not convinced my pain was gallbladder related. I had an ERCP and an MRI done before the doctor finally referred me to a surgeon in the beginning of October.
Hereβs the kicker. The province I live in has cancelled ALL non emergent surgeries due to covid over running the hospitals. I could be waiting months and months to get it removed. The results of my MRI showed that I have no dilation of the CBD so they think a stone is just blocking the hole to the CBD when I have these attacks, causing biliary colic.
Yesterday I went to the city for my consultation with the surgeon and I had an attack while driving home by myself. Thank god it only lasted about 45 minutes. Most of my attacks last at least 4 hours with the longest being 12 hours before I went to emerg for morphine via IV. I was prescribed morphine pills for at home and they donβt even touch the pain. This morning, I woke up with another that lasted 4 hours.
Iβm scared to be alone with my baby. This should be the happiest time of my life with my newborn, and I can hardly enjoy it because Iβm waiting for an attack to strike and worried that I canβt care for him because Iβm writhing on the floor in pain for hours. Itβs sad that Iβm praying to get infection so I can be considered an emergent case. I canβt do another 5 months of this!
Thanks for reading. It felt good to vent. I would love any advice you have. Im scared to try any food other than the yogurt and granola and plain bread that Iβve been eating as it seems to be safe. Im getting pretty close to YouTubing how to remove the dang thing myself!
I have a single mobile gall stone 1 cm in size and was also diagnosed with bilary dykensia with an ejection fraction of 26%. I have never experienced pain in this area before until finding out about this, the stone was discovered by accident after i went for chest pains muscle related. I suffer from health anxiety and have been thinking about it since. A few times I visited the ER because i felt a slight pain and thought my stone was stuck all times blood work and ultrasound was normal. Visited again recently because i was feeling nauseated and bloated, burning pain across below rib. The blood test was normal and doctor said if the stone was even stuck briefly the blood work would be elevated. I have been feeling the pain still and anxiety has been making me think the worse.
I did see two surgeons, one told me the option was up to me since, the stone was two big pass into my duct and get stuck, and none of the tests showed any signs of inflammation and my anxiety together with gerd could be the cause of some of the symptoms.
The other told me remove it since im in my 30's and could get another stone in the future that get stuck.
I have been feeling pain again since and bloated, but also suffer from acid reflux. One doctor at the ER told me to only come back if i get fever, severe pain and yellow eyes.
One doctor the multiple i visited the ER said even i was experiencing biliary colic, where the stone briefly blocks and then moves out blood work would be elevated by mine is always normal.
I'm not excessively familiar with Jaime French (I mainly know her from the tiny face situation) so I don't know if she's big into pseudosciencey stuff, but her recent video popped into my feed and it's... something.
Basically she describes a history of chronic problems relating to prior surgeries she had for acute appendicitis and thyroid cancer, and reasons that because of these she wants to avoid surgery for her biliary colic. Very reasonable, and I agree that trying lifestyle and medical options are always a good first step before surgery, aside from certain situations (like her prior emergent/urgent operations).
She takes excessive steps to preface the video by claiming that she is not anti-science, anti-medicine, etc. (kind of tacitly acknowledging that what she is presenting to us is) and goes on to promote this gallbladder cleanse by some guy with a $70 book on the topic. She basically drinks apple juice, a ton of olive oil, and epsom salts and proceeds to have diarrhea for days (in addition to getting some painful sounding colonics). Eventually she passes what she claims are gallstones (several hundred of them) and states that her symptoms have improved 95%, but that she still has pain after eating fatty foods (the definition of biliary colic).
Now, I'm glad that she feels that her symptoms have improved. That's great. But drinking olive oil and epsom salts does not remove stones from your gallbladder. It just doesn't, I'm sorry. The stones that are formed from this cleanse are gelatinous balls that precipitate from what you ingest. It is physically impossible to have several hundreds of sizeable gallstones in your gallbladder and liver. If you did, you would be in fulminant liver failure in the ICU, and probably dead.
I really don't have much else to say, but am just disappointed that people are out here promoting this stuff to platforms of hundreds of thousands of impressionable viewers. I know I can't really expect much, but just wanted to put this out there for anyone who watched her video and thought that there may be something to it. Drinking cups and cups of olive oil is not good for you, epsom salts are a laxative with the risk of dehydration and electrolyte imbalance, and colonics have very real risks such as bowel perforation. I always hear people say "what's the harm in trying this 'natural' remedy?" But seriously. It's not black and white.
Okay so I've been experiencing what I always suspected were episodes of biliary colic for over a year but DAMN.... biliary obstructions... holy shit I never knew something could be so excruciating. I'm on day five of my hospitalization and I had an MRI yesterday. Doc said my liver and pancreas are looking a little better so hoping the blockage cleared cause i really would rather not undergo an ecrp. Anyway just asking for good vibes towards maybe being discharged this afternoon.
Update edit: OOOOKAY. Good news first, liver and pancreas levels are much better. Potassium... need to wait and see. My MRI images are perfect, the obstruction cleared on it's own (yay!). The not so good news, I have to stay one more night because doc wants me to eat one meals worth of solids to see how I manage because if I go home, eat and it doesn't go well ill just end right back up in emerg again. My gall bladder is crammed with stones so it needs to come out soon because apparently it seems I was way more severely ill than I realized so it can't and shouldn't wait because I already had one episode of complications so the odds of more are high.
Hi , Iβve been having this pain on my right upper abdoment. The feeling is like something pressing . Sometimes comes and go . Itβs been there like months I Guess? Been going to the doctor couples of times blood and ultra sound for my liver all are normal ... Is it something I have to worry about? Iβm 23 this year .. and Iβm scared it could lead to a liver cancer or something? I never drink alcohol for almost a year I Guess? The pain is like someone is pressing just right below my rib cage .. anyone got this type of feelings also? Isit Iβm dying soon? Cancer? Tumour? Iβm scared :( For now Iβm just waiting for my appointment with the specialist.. or isit just my anxiety that causing the pain? Iβm trying to cutting down smoking also. Been finding answer on Google and all is scaring the shit out of me
I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
Hello. 25, female, dx with chronic choleosystitis after HIDA scan showed extremely overactive gallbladder causing biliary colic sx. Got the gallbladder out on Tuesday morning. It is now Friday evening and Iβm still having the same choleosystitis sx. Is this normal? Will it go away?
Alot of great jokes get posted here! However just because you have a joke, doesn't mean it's a dad joke.
THIS IS NOT ABOUT NSFW, THIS IS ABOUT LONG JOKES, BLONDE JOKES, SEXUAL JOKES, KNOCK KNOCK JOKES, POLITICAL JOKES, ETC BEING POSTED IN A DAD JOKE SUB
Try telling these sexual jokes that get posted here, to your kid and see how your spouse likes it.. if that goes well, Try telling one of your friends kid about your sex life being like Coca cola, first it was normal, than light and now zero , and see if the parents are OK with you telling their kid the "dad joke"
I'm not even referencing the NSFW, I'm saying Dad jokes are corny, and sometimes painful, not sexual
So check out r/jokes for all types of jokes
r/unclejokes for dirty jokes
r/3amjokes for real weird and alot of OC
r/cleandadjokes If your really sick of seeing not dad jokes in r/dadjokes
Punchline !
Edit: this is not a post about NSFW , This is about jokes, knock knock jokes, blonde jokes, political jokes etc being posted in a dad joke sub
Edit 2: don't touch the thermostat
Do your worst!
How the hell am I suppose to know when itβs raining in Sweden?
Ants donβt even have the concept fathers, let alone a good dad joke. Keep r/ants out of my r/dadjokes.
But no, seriously. I understand rule 7 is great to have intelligent discussion, but sometimes it feels like 1 in 10 posts here is someone getting upset about the jokes on this sub. Let the mods deal with it, they regulate the sub.
They were cooked in Greece.
I'm surprised it hasn't decade.
Now that I listen to albums, I hardly ever leave the house.
Don't you know a good pun is its own reword?
