A list of puns related to "Berberine"
Can Inositol/Ovasitol and berberine be taken long-term and if so, how has taking it long-term affected your hair loss, weight loss/fat distribution, insulin resistance, cholesterol, mental health, etc?
Would just these two supplements together be helpful instead of dropping $100+ on candibactin AR and BR? I spent a bunch on dysbiocide and fc-cidal and followed the whole treatment but it made my bloating worse and the side effects have lasted and it is like 3 months later
I havenβt had a period in close to 6 months and during this time (although I never got it tested) I could tell I was having some sort of insulin resistance or blood glucose issue because anytime I would have sugary/carby foods I would get sick. Iβve been taking a well rated amazon brand for ~2 weeks and I started bleeding today!!! When nothing else seemed to work or would make me feel really crappy. Berberine has seemingly no side effects for me which is so rare, 10/10 would recommend!
After some financial issues for a few months I'm able to start taking berberine and Myo-inositol again. Problem is that my stomach from 2 pm until midnight are making life very difficult for me. I get super nauseous, light headed, and then (TMI: my stomach feels as if there is a brick in it but that's as far as it goes for stomach). I've tried eating more, eating less, eating less carbs, eating more carbs, eating more veggies.
Today I stopped taking it and I'm not feeling bad. I'm super frustrated because berberine and Myo-inositol really helped my other stomach issues I had for years AND helped me to actually lose weight.
Has anyone else had this issue?
Hey,
Lately, I found such a thing like berberine. Potential gains while dosing this daily are:
increased insulin sensitivity
increased BDNF
helping in weight lose
All I found about this product was related to man with type 2 diabetes. I wonder if anyone has some experience with berberine as a healthy men?
Edit. And what disturbs me even more .. is it SAFE to be taken by healthy men?
I have a question. How does berberine work IRL for you? Does it make you less hungry therefore accelerates weight loss this way, or does it increase bmr or some other mechanism? I know it is supposed to make you loose fat according to studies. But I want to know if it will help me if I will have tracked calories with deficit or if it only helps if you dont track. I dont know if it is clear enough what I ask, but hopefully someone understands me. Thank you.
So basically just collecting opinions, dont know which one should i use if my goal is insulin resistance reversion and appetite suppresion. I am supposing that these substances can help make my life easier during my cut.
Anyone has any recommendations on these/ experiences taking them?
Hello folks, I ran out of NDs berberine + silymarin tabs and as you all know they are still not in stock. I do however have the powder and NDs high potency milk thistle.
How much of the milk thistle capsule would be equal to the silymarin dose in the previous berberine+ silymarin combo?
They are both seed extracts but one of them says 90% silymarin .
Thanks
I read berberine is healthier but then i see that you shouldn't take it longer than 3 months in succession and such... Also not when pregnant. I am confused. Would like to hear your experiences
Iβve never tried berberine before and so iβm very excited to see if iβll see a difference in my cravings (as i understand?)
Anyways, i have no idea how many mg to start with? And when (before a meal, after a meal ect). Any input would be helpful!
Just for info I take birth control and 200 mg Spiron daily.
Looking to start taking Berberine as a part of my supplement regime. What brand and dose to you take daily?
I was looking at trying the Thorne brand.
Hey everyone,
I'm very new to the supplements game, having only really ever used supermarket multivitamins before!
After some life changes, and feeling low and not hugely healthy, I thought I'd give some supplements a whirl.
It's worth noting that I'm a bit of a drinker, drinking a moderate amount most nights and I go through the saucebottles like a fish on the weekend. I'm under no illusion that this is likely the root cause of many of my woes, so while you're more than welcome to tell me to cut down: I know, I'm trying, it's working a bit, but it's hard!
Anyway, I've picked up some milk thistle (give that trusty liver a helping hand), a bit of ginseng to perk me up, marine collagen to maintain my impeccable looks, and I also bought some berberine. The latter is what's intriguing me.
Just about everywhere - from pseudoscience sites to the BBC - call it a bit of a miracle product, mostly for diabetics (which I ain't). I was taken in by its proposed weight-loss effects, as while I'm not a lardarse I'm hardly slim and trim. Shed a couple of pounds and I'll be happy. Plus, it just seems like it's an absolute panacea. Can't hurt, eh? Although...
I've seen little info on my brief researches on its effect on the liver. A number of sites say that it does some good for the liver, but this article implies the opposite, stating that it increases ALT, a substance often checked for in liver tests because an elevated amount indicates the onset of fatty liver disease. While I've never been tested, from my habits I've no doubt damaged my liver to a certain extent. Repair only takes a couple of dry weeks if you catch it early, but I can't remember the last time I went that long. Cheers, and all that.
If anyone has any empirical evidence either way, please hand it over ASAP so I can start chugging these magic beans - but I know that's unlikely.
What would also be interesting, though, would be to know if anyone here explicitly takes berberine for liver issues, or if anyone explicitly avoids it due to any ongoing liver concerns. If the latter is true, that would be very telling.
Anyway, any other liver health supplement recommendations are welcome as well, and sorry for the essay.
I take Metfromin for off-label anti-aging properties. But curious - what is the benefit of Berberine vs. Metformin?
Does berberine actually make you lose muscle mass like Google says or would the trt completely power that out? Im on 140 weekly. Interested in berberine to lower blood sugar as well as possibly push cancer away. Thanks for the insight
Just got some MK and was wondering if taking berberine would make me less likely to develop insulin insensitivity?
Iβm not diabetic and neither is anyone in my family but Iβm eating 5 meals a day with a shit tonne of carbs so I donβt wanna become diabetic.
Heard stories that people on MK blood sugar goes whack so Iβm wants some insight.
Donβt know too much about berberine and Iβm too lazy to look it up so I thought Iβd ask if it helps.
Also it would be useful to know how to implement blood glucose tests and how to respond the results.
Iβve been on a general PCOS supplement for months now that contained 450mg of the inositol/myoinositol blend and have done well on it. Recently though my glucose is high and my naturopath prescribed berberine 500mg 2x day. On top of that I ordered Ovasitol to eventually try out as well since Iβve seen so many success stories with it. Iβm already eating in a way to balance blood sugar and moving often, but have felt light headed the first few days taking berberine. Many have talked about adjusting to it GI-wise, but has anyone had light headedness while they were adjusting to increased dosing? Will this go away? Iβm only taking one berberine pill a day right now, hoping I adjust. Eventually Iβd like to add on the Ovasitol too to help with my hair loss.
Anyone else gain with these supplements?
Hello,
I am looking for a legit and good Berberine Brand that I can buy in GERMANY, especially if possible in Amazon.
Thanks :)
I started berberine a little over a week ago and can already see a difference. I have 90% less carb and sugar cravings and have started eating a little healthier but that's it. I am in a part of my life where my hormones are insane but I don't tolerate birth control and am disgusted with the American doctors and the whole medical system. I can't even get any doctors to listen to my symptoms or even run labs accordingly. What I do know is that I know my body inside and out and I know my cravings for carbs and sugar have been out of control the last few years. I fluctuate 10-20lbs of water weight depending on where my cycle is. I even have pitting edema in my legs at times. I decided to start the berberine because I have added weight over the last year and can't get it off. Well, a week after starting I'm already seeing a difference! I really really hope that this is the start of having more control of that water weight and maybe even getting my hormones more in check by using the berberine. I've tried just about everything else. I think everyone should try berberine!!
Hi everyone,
I just finished reading βPeriod Repair Manualβ by Lara Briden (I highly recommend by the way).
In it, she recommends Berberine as an excellent supplement for period health. I know itβs meant to be great for PCOS, but she also recommends it for clearing up acne.
I do not have PCOS but I certainly have some acne linked with my cycle Iβd love to clear up (Iβm not taking any hormonal BC).
I did some research and saw it has multiple benefits such as aiding in weight loss. I am already a healthy BMI but hoping to lose βthose last 5 poundsβ. I do have some excess weight around my tummy that despite exercising and practicing IF, I am at a bit of a standstill with.
My question is- do you think it is still safe for me to take Berberine despite being a healthy weight and intermittent fasting most days? And if yes, do you think it will actually aid WL for the last few pounds I have to lose?
Also anyoneβs experience with taking Berberine for their acne would also be greatly appreciated :)
I have tried 500-1000mg of berberine for several different times on my cheat days to keep my blood glucose level under control and every single time i get so bad restless legs syndrome that it will ruin my sleep.
Has anyone else noticed the same or just me?
I monitor my blood glucose level constantly and it's not hypoglycemia.
I was thinking that it might be some bad drug interaction because berberine inhibits the CYP2D6 and CYP3A4 enzymes and the later one being the important one metabolizing many of the drugs. But then i tried it without any other medications and i still got the restless legs.
I would like to use this supplement for blood sugar regulation, but sadly it seems that my body doesn't react to it well for some reason.
I haven't found anything related to this on the web so if anyone knows something, please tell me.
I eat one meal a day, early evening after my workout. I take a bunch of supplements during the day on an empty stomach never have an upset stomach at all. I am fairly unscientific and sloppy in my recording of what I like, not the best.
the other day I tried berberine on an empty stomach. To my amazement it killed my appetite which made my early fasting a piece of cake.
Does anyone have experience with this and would I be ok adding it daily on an empty stomach ? Thanks for your thoughts
Background: I (26F) was diagnosed with PCOS in September based off of my high testosterone levels and rapid weight gain in the last year. I have always had a regular period whether Iβm on birth control or not. I had an ovarian cyst once when I was 20 while in the Mirena IUD (I only had it for about a year before I got it taken out to see if the cyst would resolve itself and it did).
I started taking berberine in September and gained around 5-8 pounds on top of the weight gain I was already experiencing. I stuck through until this past week when I decided to give my liver a break (have read on here that long term use could affect my liver). Since taking a break I have already lost 5 pounds which Iβm sure is water weight but not sure why berberine would increase my water retention?
I donβt have any other of the typical symptoms of PCOS other than the high testosterone and trouble with weight loss. Does anyone else with PCOS experience the same symptoms and have you had any luck with berberine or other supplements? I am also taking ovasitol since I am off birth control (on month 2 of no birth control. I wanted to see if my testosterone would level out if I didnβt have synthetic hormones in my body and my endocrinologist approved it as long as my periods are regular) and didnβt want my hormones to be super out of wack.
Hi all! Iβm just about to start taking Berberine as inositol doesnβt agree with my skin and MH. (Yes I was taking the right ratio and dosage)
I know it reacts with lots of drugs, how about supplements? Plz let me know if there are any supplements I shouldnβt take with it
I take vitamin d, vitamin c, magnesium, zinc,
There was a post a few days ago about someone who took berberine pills saying it has cured his bad breath. Anyone else tried this method? They also said your bad breath itβs going to be worse at the beginning.
okay so i havenβt kept track of how long iβve been taking it but pretty much as soon as i saw this one guys posts who said he took it for a certain amount of time and cured his bad breath, i ordered some of these pills. iβve noticed my breath has gotten worse or at the very least the taste in my mouth has gotten worse. should i keep going? iβve been eating pretty shit nglβ¦could me taking the berberine be useless if iβm not eating right? should i fast while taking this? idk anymore, getting kind of discouraged. more white stuff is on my tongue now. if i had to really think, i believe itβs been almost a week of me taking it. iβve eaten greasy foods like pizza these last couple days and had ham and sweet potatoes n stuff for thanksgiving which ik made my breath worse bc sugar and meat seem to do thatβ¦β¦ JESUS. i just want this gone already :( my stomach hasnβt been taking kindly to this either. i mean my stomach always makes horrible noises and canβt digest anything but iβm wondering if itβs genuinely making it worse. iβm gonna keep going. i think iβm just gonna try and fast n do this and give updates on if it works or not..
For Metformin, I know there's an enormous amount of data (being a conventional diabetes drug) to support the claim it has substantial metablolic benefits and possibly other longevity benefits we don't fully understand yet. Are there any large-scale studies on Berberine to suggest same? I've done my homework and all I can find is very small-scale studies in humans and mouse data. I've seen a lot of comments here calling it a viable Metformin replacement but as far as I can see, the data isn't there, at least not yet.
If you're taking Metformin as a non-diabetic, what adverse effects do you regularly look out for in your bloods? For example, the issue of vitamin B12 deficiency comes up a lot and I'm wondering how many of you have experienced it, in what dosage, and how do you manage it? How often would you get your bloods done on Metformin?
Thanks a lot.
I have been Diabetic for 20+ years (yeah old fart) my A1C arced up to 9 after spending entire summer caring for wife and not paying attention. I take metaformin (2 1000mg) and insulin 4 times a day. I read about berberin and decided to give it a shot, purchased berberin with cylon cinnamon and took 500mg teice a day did this for last 2 months, lost no weigth and continued meds. Checked bg 3 times a day and it was dropping to reasonable numbers, Finally got to endocronologist this week and A1C dropped to 6.3 no other changes in my lifestyle. Doctore suggested I continue for next 6 months and of course loose weight and at next check if same or lower will start reducing medication needs. Now this is just my experience and I am no doctor and just wanted to give out the info so it might help someone else. Please always review with your doctor any new supplements etc. as I in no way want to be responsible for health problems my info might cause!
Is there any benefit to taking berberine sporadically, ie after a random high sugar/carb meal, a few times a week, rather than consistently each day?
My doctor recommended I start taking Berberine 1200mg 2x per day, once in the morning and once at night. Based off what Iβve seen others saying theyβre taking, 2400mg per day seems like a bit much, and I bought a bottle of Berberine Plus 1200mg from Amazon per his recommendation.
Iβm 5β2β female, in my 30s, and last I checked I was between 190-200lbs. PCOS runs in my family as well as high cholesterol and diabetes. I also have mixed IBS so I never know what kind of experience Iβll have in the restroom. My labs back in March said I had slightly elevated bad cholesterol, not high enough good cholesterol, but my A1C was smack dab in the middle of the healthy range so thatβs good. In lieu of prescribing me Metformin, he suggested this. Iβm due to go back in for lab work in about 3 months to see where Iβm at.
What are your experiences with this? Should I buy a lower dosage? What were your side effects? Any input is greatly appreciated.
