Do you love me orchestral bell notes

I might do a cover of do you love me and I wanna get some orchestral bells on there like the original has. Does anyone know the exact notes that are played by the bells? I’ve tried to figure it out for the past half an hour or so but it’s difficult to figure it out.

Looking for specific bell and orchestral bass drum samples (Along the lines of Flaming Lips, Smashing Pumpkins, Shins, Gregory Alan Isakov, Roy Orbison)

I’m looking for some specific sounding samples, maybe something from Native Instruments, or some packs from Reason or whatever you recommend.

The bell sounds that I’m looking for are similar to the ones used in Do You Realize by Flaming Lips, or Disarm by Smashing Pumpkins.

Also, throughout the music of the artists that I mentioned in the title, they often use orchestral instruments, sometimes bells and other times orchestral bass drum. Looking for good sounding samples of these two instruments.

Looking for recommendations just to play around and have fun with, but specific to these instruments.

It’s not that I haven’t looked and found anything myself, because I have. Just asking to see if anyone’s heard anything along these lines that they liked and would like to recommend.

Thanks so kindly!

Cellar Boxing!!

If you haven't read u/thabat 's DD on Cellar Boxing, I'd recommend doing so. It's worth it to get some background on this. LINK TO DD.

But the Smooth-Brain TLDR, is that this was the Naked Shorting Gameplan, but referred to as Cellar Boxing which was found in a forum back in 2004.

And remember the Whole ZOMBIE STOCKS thing ya?

Well maybe we have been missing the bigger picture here...

The theory was that Zombie Stocks were stocks that had been Naked Shorted / Cellar Boxed to death by Market Makers so that they could win the bankruptcy jackpot and never have to pay back the mass of shorts they had against the stocks...

But what if there is more to the story...

WHAT IF... NAKED SHORTING / CELLAR BOXING WAS JUST A NEW MORE ADVANCED WAY TO CREATE DISTRESSED COMPANIES THAT PRIVATE EQUITY FIRMS COULD THEN TAKE OVER FOR $0.10 ON THE DOLLAR AND DRIVE THEM INTO THE GROUND???

Zombie Stock #1 - Toys'R'Us

Toys 'R' Us goes Private - Bought out by 2 of the biggest Private Equity Firms Kravis Roberts & Co and Bain Capital in 2005

Source: NBC NEWS

After Bain Capital and KKR took over.... the Profit First strategies kicked in and Toys R Us began its decline.

(Apologies about quality, old article)

As per this Nasdaq article, they state that:

However, there is little doubt that Toys "R" Us' management is trying to adapt its business model to accommodate pressure from the company's owners for greater profitability. ]

It is also understandable that the owners - Bain, KKR ( KKR

PotW #3: Respighi - Fountains of Rome

Good morning everyone and welcome to week 3 of our β€œPiece of the Week” listening club! Last week we listened to Scriabin’s fourth piano sonata, feel free to go back and share your thoughts there.

This week’s selection is Ottorino Respighi Fontane di Roma (1916)

Score from IMSLP

Some listening notes by the composer himself

> In this symphonic poem the composer has endeavored to give expression to the sentiments and visions suggested to him by four of Rome’s fountains, contemplated at the hour when their characters are most in harmony with the surrounding landscape, or at which their beauty is most impressive to the observer.

> The first part of the poem, inspired by the fountain of Valle Giulia, depicts a pastoral landscape: droves of cattle pass and disappear in the fresh, damp mists of the Roman dawn.

> A sudden loud and insistent blast of horns above the trills of the whole orchestra introduces the second part, β€œThe Triton Fountain.” It is like a joyous call, summoning troops of naiads and tritons, who come running up, pursuing each other and mingling in a frenzied dance between the jets of water.

> Next there appears a solemn theme borne on the undulations of the orchestra. It is the fountain of Trevi at mid-day. The solemn theme, passing from the woodwind to the brass instruments, assumes a triumphal character. Trumpets peal: Across the radiant surface of the water there passes Neptune’s chariot drawn by seahorses and followed by a train of sirens and tritons. The procession vanishes while faint trumpet blasts resound in the distance.

> The fourth part, the Fountain at the Villa Medici, is announced by a sad theme which rises above the subdued warbling. It is the nostalgic hour of sunset. The air is full of the sound of tolling

The r/indieheads Album of the Year 2021 Write-Up Series: Sam Wilkes - One Theme & Subsequent Improvisation

Howdy y'all! Welcome to Day 4 of the r/indieheads Album of the Year 2021 Write-Up Series, our annual event where we showcase pieces from some of our favorite writers on the subreddit talking about their favorite records of the year! Up today, u/Tadevos is talking Sam Wilkes' One Theme & Subsequent Improvisation.

October 22nd, 2021 - Leaving

Background by u/Tadevos:

Sam Wilkes is a composer and multi-instrumentalist based out of Los Angeles, a figure in the forward-looking LA jazz scene, rubbing shoulders with such luminaries as Louis Cole, Kiefer, and Rejoicer. He’s best known as a bassist, and best known as a bassist for working withβ€”well, listen, no, this is actually part of the review here. Let’s just get into it.

Writeup by u/Tadevos:

Theme

For as long as I’ve known about him, I’ve associated Sam Wilkes with his friend and frequent collaborator, saxophonist Sam Gendel. The duo released Music for Saxofone and Bass Guitar on Leaving Records in 2018β€”a heady trip of an album, built on looped mouth percussion, heavily processed bass guitar, and multitracked, harmonized saxophone. The atmosphere was heavy and hazy and immediately appealing to someone like me, who was getting into jazz through ambient and electronic music. I thrilled to originals like the strange, dusty β€œBoa” and electrifying inversions of Pharoah Sanders’ β€œGreetings to Idris” and Kiefer’s β€œMost Beautiful Girl.” Saxofone and Bass Guitar the relishes in exploring the sonic space of its groove as much as in developing its solos. (On the loop-heavy latter cover, one of the Sams calls out, β€œKiefer, but no melody!”)

Later that year, Wilkes released WILKES, his debut record. Gendel played on all six of its tracksβ€”five Wilkes originals plus John Coltrane’s β€œWelcome”—and reprised much of the same material on Wilkes’ 2019 follow-up Live on the Green. That s

Be My Baby by the Ronettes: A Thesis

This post is going to defend one thesis throughout the majority of its length: By My Baby by the Ronettes is the most important piece of Western Music of the last 60 years.

A few main points before I get into it.

  • I am incredibly limited in my knowledge (as any single individual is). I did not live in the 60's and I haven't heard all music ever made. I will try to rely on research and facts to support my points, but of course there will be gaps. I strongly encourage anyone and everyone in the comments to either offer refuting or supporting evidence, because I'm very interested in learning more.
  • The scope of the thesis is (as mentioned above) only from 1960 onwards. We are mainly looking at contemporary popular music and how it achieved the form we know today.
  • The evidence used faces two main caveats. First, much of it is based off of personal accounts, so it's hard to corroborate it. Second, quantifying musical influence is very difficult, meaning a lot of the evidence has limited value in an in depth investigation.
  • While I am treating this post with care and attention, it is NOT a formal investigation. There will be errors and it won't have nearly as much research as I could conceivably collect.
  • Most sources will either be linked or referenced, but some may slip through the cracks. Wikipedia will contain a lot of the sources referenced if you look in the references at the bottom of the pages for The Ronettes, Phil Spector, Be My Baby, or other related topics.

With that out of the way, lets dive into Be My Baby.

Part 1: Background

Section 1.A: The Ronettes

Before we talk about Be My Baby, we need to talk about the actual artists behind the song. That being the three person girl group, The Ronettes, comprised of Ronnie Spector (nee Veronica Bennett), Estelle Bennet, and Nedra Talley (Ronnie Spector Biography). The three girls began singing together from a young age (Ronnie and Estelle were sisters and Nedra was their cousin) and were harmonizing at family gatherings when Ronnie was as young as 8 (Nedra Ross Interview, 1982).

Once they were older, the group began to sing at small gigs from Bar Mitzvahs to amateur shows (and temporarily had some of their other relatives involved). Once the line up was finalized as the three girls (going by Ronnie and the Relatives), continued to perform at shows before gaining the attention of Phil Halikus, who introduced t

Enhanced Diving Bell's Orchestral Track by Accident...... AMAZING!!!

I was tinkering with equalizer pre-sets on my phone, trying to see which one gave me the sound that felt best. I didn't keep it, but one of the settings really downplayed (no pun intended) the vocals on Diving Bell and brought the orchestral and winds sections to the forefront. Wow! Diving Bell's instrumental components are incredibly beautiful. The horn and winds arc that plays just after the lyric "this wasn't in my plans" is sublime.

SERIOUS: This subreddit needs to understand what a "dad joke" really means.

I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.

Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
