[Review] Dior Black Cannage and Beige Book Totes from TS Linda

Hi lovely RL community. This is my first post here so forgive me if I miss anything important. Feel free to skip to the good stuff if you don’t want to hear how I ended up with two Book Totes instead of one. The timeline is a bit scattered as I am just now getting to writing this review.

So I was laying on the beach back one day back in April and looked over at the sad tote bag that my husband and I use as a beach bag (the fabric kind you get at a bookstore or a gift with purchase) and thought to myself it was time to pull the trigger on a Book Tote for travel but mainly for trips to the beach.

Sidenote: I’ve been buying reps for many years now but only knew of TS Tina aka Tinajini. I had only recently discovered RL so I messaged a few TS and Linda seemed to be the quickest to respond and also the one with many good reviews. I began browsing her album and fell in love with the Black Cannage design (which was featured on the SS20 runway) from Marble Factory and paid her. As I waited for the PSP, I began to browse the internet to try and learn more about the bag, see stock images, etc and discovered that the tote didn’t really exist besides on the runway. Personally, I like to buy styles that are available online/in store because it puts my neurosis at ease. So I panicked and reached out to Linda to ask if I could change to the camo fringe Book Tote since it could be found on dior.com and she told me she couldn’t switch. I was a bit bummed but vowed to snap myself out of it and enjoy my new tote. The bag came and it was extremely gorgeous, perfect and well made. However, I couldn’t swallow the fact that the bag apparently was never sold online/in-store and couldn’t even be found on TRR, fashionphile, etc so I panicked and purchased the current season beige Book Tote knowing that this is something Dior has actually produced.

This is definitely TL;DR but long story short I just received the beige and I am extremely bummed at some QC issues I couldn't spot in the PSP images. According to my neurosis, I now have 2 bags that I can’t fully wear with confidence but my lovely husband reminded me that this bag was solely for the beach and the QC issues can only be seen if you’re more up close. With that being said, on to my review of these Book Totes! Disclaimer: apologies if my rating is not how it’s supposed to be done. Feels nice to have found a community that has an eagle eye like myself (well, except for this tragic slip for this beige tot

[TOMT][book][1980s?] a book bound in beige textile, containing very detailed, dark drawings of prehistoric earth and dinosaurs.

I am looking for a book I ravenously read as a child in the 80s but sadly lost shortly after. It had a beige textile cover, rather rough. It features very detailed and dark drawings of ancient earth landscapes and also of dinosaurs. I am sorry that I can't provide a more detailed description. Thank you.

Overall Economic Activity

  • Economic activity expanded modestly from January to mid-February for most Federal Reserve Districts. Most businesses remain optimistic regarding the next 6-12 months as COVID-19 vaccines become more widely distributed. Reports on consumer spending and auto sales were mixed. Although a few Districts reported slight improvements in travel and tourism activity, overall conditions in the leisure and hospitality sector continued to be restrained by ongoing COVID-19 restrictions. Despite challenges from supply chain disruptions, overall manufacturing activity for most Districts increased moderately from the previous report. Among Districts reporting on nonfinancial services, activity was mixed, though most reported modest growth over the reporting period. Some Districts noted that financial institutions experienced declines in loan volumes, but most cited lower delinquency rates and elevated deposit levels. Historically low mortgage interest rates continued to spur robust demand for both new and existing homes in most Districts, and home prices continued to rise in many areas of the U.S. On balance, commercial real estate conditions in the hotel, retail, and office sectors deteriorated somewhat, while activity in the multifamily sector remained steady and the industrial segment continued to strengthen. Districts reporting on energy observed a slight uptick in activity related to oil and gas production and energy consumption. Overall, reports on agricultural conditions were somewhat improved since the previous report. Transportation activity grew modestly for many Districts.

Employment and Wages

  • Most Districts reported that employment levels rose over the reporting period, albeit slowly. Labor demand varied considerably by industry and by skill level, and many contacts noted continued difficulties attracting and retaining qualified workers. Labor supply shortages were noted by contacts as most acute among low-skill occupations and skilled trade positions. Constraints on labor supply included those related to COVID-19, childcare, and unemployment benefits. Overall, contacts expect modest improvements in employment levels in the near term. Several Districts reported modest wage increases for high-demand positions with many also noting upward pressure on wages to attract and retain employees. On balance, wage increases for

Fiction paperback book about a man's life journey and struggles, white/beige cover, over 300 pages

SOLVED: Found a picture of me holding the book and could recognize the author's last name. The book is "The Goldfinch" by Donna Tartt. The author is female - was wrong there, the book has well over 400 pages (800-ish) and was published in 2013.

Hello!

I'm looking for a book about an American man's life journey. The paperback, white/beige covered book has a lot of pages (over 300, maybe even over 400) and has one main protagonist. The cover is pretty minimalistic, there are some black symbols/pictures but they take up little space.

The fictional story covers different periods of his life, but mainly focuses on his adolescence and adulthood. From what I remember the setting in the book changes a lot. I think te man lost his mother when he was young. He tries to find meaning in his life and his life is full of highs and lows. There is drug use in the book. At one point the man seemingly has it all, is engaged and supposedly happy but throws it all away. He self-sabotages a lot. He might have mental issues, suffers from substance abuse and some kind of trauma. At some point he is also homeless, I think, perhaps in a big City like New York. He stays at some place for a while (a friend's?).

I got the book as a gift in the summer of 2014. I read it when I was 18. The book was ok for me but I wouldn't say that it's generally targeted at people of that age, the book is pretty dark and depressing. I don't remember the ending but it's definitely a sad book to read. I think it is targeted towards adults.

I think the book was published between 2000 and 2014, probably around 2010. I am not sure but think the book may have "t" in the title, like "The ...." and I think the author was male.

I'm very grateful for anyone reading this ♥️

My Bag Photos

BONUS: possible shoe and bag combinations

Link to Authentic

Quality: 10/10 Deducted no points because, although I haven’t ever beheld or felt the authentic, based on my research it should be weighty, firm, structured and feel luxurious. This bag absolutely does meet all of those qualifications. -the stitching is neat and tight -the embroidery is appropriately raised -the bag has heft but isn’t heavy/uncomfortable -the fabric feels luxurious

Accuracy: 8/10 (edited to deduct 2 points) This is a very difficult bag to QC. I have pored over the photos available on a google images search [see some image research here] and zoomed in on all the places it seems to matter as well as random places, just to be thorough. Again, I have not beheld the authentic only seen it online.

Edited Score -deduct 1 - a fellow RepLady in the comments below pointed out that the P in PARIS should be further to the right. Not as close to the T in Christian Dior. -deduct 1 - another fellow RepLady pointed out to me that the R in Dior has the flaw of the bottom of the R being to flat on its top. It should be more pointy like an upside down V.

I wish to add this has not affected my satisfaction score since I really love the way this bag feels and looks, especially for the price point.

From a photo comparison standpoint: -Placeme

Creepy/Mainly Beige and Dark large picture book. Blood-shot eyes, bleeding hearts, etc. Supposedly a children's book. More info in post body.

I've been trying to find this thing for ages. I owned it when i was a kid in the early 2000's.

It was a fully illustrated picture book written in rhyme [I think], that followed a small protagonist as they ventured through a heavily wooded area and into some caves, etc. The protagonist would call out to whatever creature was presented on the page and the creature would answer. I recall that on one page the creatures looked somewhat normal, but on the other they would be horrifying. Some of the few I remember were giant fish (exposed bones, dead eyes, angry, teeth) and this strange thing that I will describe the best that I can from fractured memory.

It was cut in half, skin like tree bark, dried and brittle looking. It was holding its heart in one hand. It was either hovering or suspended and covered in what looked like either spider webs or wires. It seemed dead, but had a speaking part in the story. I think I recall the protagonist running through the rest of the book to get away. I think.

The colorscheme was mostly drab. Beige and brown. The art was very well done. Highly detailed and disturbing.

Any help is appreciated. I've tried searching online everywhere with tons of keywords and have come up with nothing. I couldn't have been the only one that had this book as I believe I got it from a Scholastic Bookfair.

Fed’s Beige Book reports overall growth as “slight to modest”

Raymond James

  • The Fed’s Beige Book reported that overall growth was characterized as “slight to modest” in most areas of the country, although “changes in activity varied greatly by sector.” Job growth “remained slow,” as “firms continued to report new furloughs and layoffs,” with firms adjusting to their employees’ health and childcare concerns.
  • Overall, inflation was modest, although input costs were generally rising faster than consumer prices. There were widespread reports of continued additional costs for firms due to COVID-19, including personal protective equipment, sanitation equipment, testing equipment, and technology needed for remote work.
  • Building permits rose 5.2%, to a 1.553 million seasonally adjusted annual rate in September (+8.1% y/y), with single-family permits (the key figure in the report) up 7.8% (24.3% higher than a year earlier). Housing starts rose 1.9%, to a 1.415 million pace, with single-family starts up 8.5% (22.3% higher than a year ago). Existing home sales jumped to a 6.54 million seasonally adjusted annual rate in September (+20.9% y/y), with the headline figure amplified by the seasonal adjustment (sales were unchanged before seasonal adjustment). The National Association of Realtors noted that housing strength has been fueled by low mortgage rates and the expectation of a longer-term shift to working from home.
  • Homebuilder sentiment (the National Association of Home Builders’ Housing Market Index) rose to another record high, coming in at 85 in October, vs. 83 in September and 78 in August. “Historic traffic numbers have builders seeing positive market conditions,” according to the NAHB, but “many in the industry are worried about rising costs and delays for building materials, especially lumber.”
  • The Index of Conference Board’s index of Leading Economic Indicators rose 0.7% in September, led by a drop in jobless claims, a gain in building permits, and strength in ISM New Orders. Together with the index of Coincident Economic Indicators, which rose 0.2%, the LEI “suggests that the post-pandemic recovery in economic activity may be slowing.” The report noted that “rising COVID-19 cases could pose additional risks in the near- term.”

Beige Book (December 2, 2020)

Source: Federal Reserve

Overall Economic Activity

  • Most Federal Reserve Districts have characterized economic expansion as modest or moderate since the prior Beige Book period. However, four Districts described little or no growth, and five narratives noted that activity remained below pre-pandemic levels for at least some sectors. Moreover, Philadelphia and three of the four Midwestern Districts observed that activity began to slow in early November as COVID-19 cases surged. Reports tended to indicate higherthan-average growth of manufacturing, distribution and logistics, homebuilding, and existing home sales, although not without disruptions. Banking contacts in numerous Districts reported some deterioration of loan portfolios, particularly for commercial lending into the retail and leisure and hospitality sectors. An increase in delinquencies in 2021 is more widely anticipated. Most Districts reported that firms’ outlooks remained positive; however, optimism has waned – many contacts cited concerns over the recent pandemic wave, mandated restrictions (recent and prospective), and the looming expiration dates for unemployment benefits and for moratoriums on evictions and foreclosures.

Employment and Wages

  • Nearly all Districts reported that employment rose, but for most, the pace was slow, at best, and the recovery remained incomplete. Firms that were hiring continued to report difficulties in attracting and retaining workers. Many contacts noted that the sharp rise in COVID-19 cases had precipitated more school and plant closings and renewed fears of infection, which have further aggravated labor supply problems, including absenteeism and attrition. Providing for childcare and virtual schooling needs was widely cited as a significant and growing issue for the workforce, especially for women – prompting some firms to extend greater accommodations for flexible work schedules. In several Districts, firms feared that employment levels would fall over the winter before recovering further. Despite hiring difficulties, firms in most Districts reported that wages grew at a slight or modest pace overall. However, many noted greater pressure to raise rates for low-skilled workers, especially in outlying areas. Staffing firms described greater placement success with competitive rates, and one firm instituted a minimum wage rate for its industrial clients.

Overall Economic Activity

  • Economic activity continued to increase across all Districts, with the pace of growth characterized as slight to modest in most Districts. Changes in activity varied greatly by sector. Manufacturing activity generally increased at a moderate pace. Residential housing markets continued to experience steady demand for new and existing homes, with activity constrained by low inventories. Banking contacts also cited increased demand for mortgages as the key driver of overall loan demand. Conversely, commercial real estate conditions continued to deteriorate in many Districts, with the exception being warehouse and industrial space where construction and leasing activity remained steady. Consumer spending growth remained positive, but some Districts reported a leveling off of retail sales and a slight uptick in tourism activity. Demand for autos remained steady, but low inventories have constrained sales to varying degrees. Reports on agriculture conditions were mixed, as some Districts are experiencing drought conditions. Districts characterized the outlooks of contacts as generally optimistic or positive, but with a considerable degree of uncertainty. Restaurateurs in many Districts expressed concern that cooler weather would slow sales, as they have relied on outdoor dining. Banking contacts in many Districts expressed concern that delinquency rates may rise in coming months, citing various reasons; however, delinquency rates have remained stable.

Employment and Wages

  • Employment increased in almost all Districts, though growth remained slow. Employment gains were reported most consistently for manufacturing firms, although firms continued to report new furloughs and layoffs. Most Districts continued reporting tight labor markets, attributing it to workers’ health and childcare concerns, with many firms consequently offering increased schedule flexibility; a few Districts, however, noted some firms were finding it easier to hire workers. Wages increased slightly in most Districts, often tied to firms’ difficulty finding workers, especially for low-wage or high demand jobs. Some firms reported returning wages (and raises) to normal levels, but many reported more stable wages.

Prices
