A list of puns related to "Basic (slang)"
Gonna be very careful with this question since I don't want folks thinking I think that "black culture" is just acting "street" and listening to rap music. I don't. However black-created slang and music and such is very popular with American young, and basically always has been (think of how rock and roll started for basically the same thing back in the 50s). So, I guess my real question is not why we see whites culturally appropriate black cultural items, but why there is the white-youth-culture vacuum that causes the "need" to appropriate in the first place.
Edit: got my answer! Thanks. Also the bit about future kids was just a joke and way of exaggerating my frustration and dislike for the word lol. Everything is fine.
Pretty much the title. I've been seeing people in titanfolk always use "BASED" as some kind of slang and i dont get it. But also - why? When i eventually have kids how am i supposed to teach them how to talk without all these cringe slang words? Theyre gonna be like "mom, the kids at school are using all the words you taught me but i dont understand anything!" Like slang is being transformed so fast on a monthly basis now. Im so tired. Im only in my 20s im not meant to feel this old. T.T help
I know itโs not really slang and everyone uses it but I read an article about gen z slang and โbasicโ was one of the words on there. I donโt really know how to feel about that. What do you guys think?

Heres some slang that I grew up with in Miami in the 2000s. Some of these may be very 2000s-esque, others are Miami/South Florida specific.
"Raw" something is cool or badass
"Git" a short or really young person
"Eating shit" to waste time
"Live" something being awesome; similar to raw
"Biter" a copy cat. Also "biting" to copy someones style.
"Plastic" someone who is prissy and doesnt like going outside or doing anything thats not super clean
"Chonga" a Hispanic girl that partakes in "ghetto" subcultures and usually wears hoop earings, glues her hair and speaks in Spanglish
"Ref" a Hispanic immigrant who speaks no English and is into reggaeton. Males often would wear tight polos, spike their hair and wear silver earings
"Are you serial?" Basically "are you kidding me?"
How far into language learning should you be before knowing slang/idiom terms? Should you start learning slang words when have most of the basics down (basics being equivalent to being in a 1st/2nd language class), or should you wait until you can hold a basic conversation with someone on the streets? Or am I just overthinking this and it really does not matter?
This bull run a lot of new folks have bought in and joined the crypto community, welcome! You probably have heard most of the terms I'm about to reiterate, but I feel like most of the newbies here are missing the full context of a few of the most essential sayings and how they interact, so here we go!
DYOR โ (Do Your Own Research)
There has been a big increase in people here on Reddit asking questions they really should have researched themselves. More importantly, questions they should have had an answer to BEFORE they bought in and/or signed up to an exchange. If you are asking me or an other random person on the internet how to withdraw your money from an exchange after depositing your money (you know who you are), or at what price point to buy this and that coin, you are doing it wrong. For all you know the money you just send to โthatโ exchange is gone because the whole thing is actually a scam. Asking for buying and selling points? Same difference; some might give you good advice, others will see you as a nice new bag holder to dump their shitcoins on. Point being, this world is filled with scams and rip offs in all shapes and sizes. Don't rely on others to do your thinking for you, don't go to a sub dedicated to a coin and think you now understand that market. If you haven't already, check out the posts /u/hazelvelvet recently made to get some ideas of how to spot scamy cryptos. That person is making a true effort battling the scammers.
I always encourage people new to the game to get a basic understanding of what blockchain is and how Proof of Work (PoW) works. It's the easiest one to grasp and a good starting point to compare other formats to. Good starting point is always [this video][1]. To go a step further I'd advice you to actually mine a coin yourself, just so you get an idea of how this whole thing works. Personally I'd recommend checking out Vertcoin, since it's the easiest to mine for any beginner (Disclaimer, I do own some VTC so I am biased). Download the one click miner, make an exception in your AV and/or firewall and you are good to go. Now, if you stopped reading and instantly installed the miner and bypassed your antivirus, congrats, you just trusted a random person on the internet and could have fucked your computer and your crypto holdings. DYOR!!! Don't just trust me because I wrote a lot of text that seemed to make sense. At the very least double check the stuff you are told with different sources.

That's it, that's the post.
Context:
Inquisitor Gregor Eisenhorn and his ex-bounty hunter retainer Harlon Nayl have disguised themselves and are following a lead that brings them into a mutant slum in the underhive of Eechan. The mutants have developed a thriving sub-culture that the rather straight-backed Inquisitor struggles to adapt to, to say the least.
"Twist" is the word mutants use to refer to themselves in this hive.
Posting the excerpt because its rare that we get an insight into the regular lives of Hivers, especially abhuman ones. It's also quite funny to see the normally hyper-competent Eisenhorn struggle with something so basic.
>We went inside, down a few dark steps into a nocturnal club room that was fogged with obscura smoke and pulsing with a brand of harsh, discordant music called โpoundโ. Panes of red glass had been put over the lights of the lanterns and the place was a hellish swamp, like the damnation paintings of that insane genius Omarmettia.

>Malforms, deforms, halfbreeds and underscum huddled or gambled or drank or danced. On a raised stage, a naked, heavy-breasted, eyeless girl with a grinning mouth where her navel should have been gyrated to the pound beat.
>
> We reached the bar, a soiled curve of hardwood under a series of hard white lights. The barkeep was a bloated thing with bloodshot eyes and a black snake tongue that flickered between his wet, slit mouth and rotting teeth.
>
>โHey, twist. What will it be?โ
โTwo of those,โ I said, pointing to clear grain-alcohol shots that a waitress was carrying past on a tray. She would have been beautiful except for the yellow quills stippling her skin.
>
>Twists. We were all twists here. โMutantโ is a dirty word if youโre a mutant. They delight in referring to themselves by the Imperiumโs glibbest and most detrimental slang, as a badge of honour. Itโs a pride thing, a common habit with any underclass. Non-telepaths do it when they call themselves โbluntsโ. The tall, slender people of low-grav Sylvan do it when they call themselves โsticksโ. A slurโs not a slur if you use it on yourself.
>
>Labour laws on Eechan permit twists to work as indentured labourers in the industrial mill-farms and the sap distilleries, provided they abide by the local regime and keep themselves to the licensed shanty towns huddled in the skirts of the bad end of Eechan mainhive.

I have set aside two areas: one from mystery gift bags (furniture, clothes, nmt, bells, etc) and the other for a large section of Common DIYS.
No matter which you want to come take a look at, please limit yourself to only TEN items total. Again, only TEN total. That means any combination of BOTH the bags and the DIYS that is equal or less than TEN. You also have to remind me that my favorite villagers are cranky when you make your comment or you will not be invited!
I'll be letting people in 3 at a time until I run out of stuff or time. It's around 3am for me so I don't expect to be up for long. Let me know which of the two sections you want to visit. You can comment either "I live for the mystery!" or "I'm a crafty one!" to an invite, but you can visit either section of the giveaway. Again. You can only take ten things.

If you don't get a response you didn't read the whole post. I will not accept edited posts. You will have to try again some other time.

If you want any, please comment how many stacks of each resource you'd like, and I'll drop them off for you!

ใใฆใฑใใ(ukeru)
It means: funny, hilarious
This is a slang of โใใใใใ."
It sounds just like โๅใใ(to receive),โ but it sometimes becomes a different word in a casual setting.
You usually use it as if it was an adjective, but it can also work as a verb:
(sth [jokes, failures, etc.])ใ (sb)ใซ ใฆใฑใใ
In this form, you can mean "(sb) laughs at (sth)."
Examples:
ใปใใใใใฃใกใใฆใฑใใ(Thatโs so funny.)
ใปไฟบ^(ใใ)ใฎๅ่ซ^(ใใใใ ใ)ใใใฏใฉในใฎใฟใใชใซใฆใฑใใใ ใ(Everybody in my class liked my joke.)
In our YouTube video, we made a skit about this slang. Go check it if you are interested! You can find various contents there.
TL:DR Anybody know of good names for magical Disciplines that would fit into a cyberpunk slash supernatural infested world? Also, hello! Time for a first post.
Greetings!
So, Iโve been putting some things together for the system I am now polishing up after some years and always hit a snag like the one. Sometimes I am just looking for the right names so that the image of what something is and what it does is extremely clear and helps a player mark how they're going to use this ability/trait/attribute, etc.
As such, I need a little help trying to conjure up a few names for Disciplines of magic. Not many names, just six. Iโll include the current names with a base description so that thereโs a good concept of what I am asking for.
As a last piece of context, this is for a game that is a mash up of Cyberpunk themes pulled from Cyberpunk 2020 and pretty loosely based on a White Wolf system I used to use. So, itโs 2074, vampires, werewolves, and hunters: OH MY! With a good dash of magic thrown in.
I just canโt be sure if I could come up with better names than whatโs below that may match the themes of this game. Any thoughts?
DISCIPLINES
ยท Elemental: This is the lowest Discipline of magic encompassing the raw forces of nature. Earth, fire, water, air, gravity, and kinetic energy. [Low level]
ยท Matter: This is the Discipline of form and structure which can manipulate the raw energies of the physical plane. [Low Level]
ยท Soul: The spirit and the mind are the focus of this Discipline and the means to control either or both. [Mid Level]
ยท Astral: Like Matter, this is all about the form but for the metaphysical and dealing with the planes of the ethereal and travel through them. [Mid Level]
ยท AEther: This is a formless force that fuels the universe and acts as the groundwork for all magic and even life itself. The discipline isnโt so much how to control the AEther but how to not be destroyed when using it. [High Level]
ยท Proteus: This Discipline deals in the constants of the universe which propel things forward dealing with Time and Entropy. [High Level]
**I have denoted the low, mid, and high levels of magic to help identify the more complex and powerful Disciplines.
I was watching a show, and a French person said "Oh la la" - while she was pissed off, and having a fight with her partner. I always thought it was used in reference to something positive, but clearly it is not!
Is this a common thing to say? Or is it a more niche slang used by specific people?
I'm American, and I honestly thought "oh la la" was just an American cliche- i never realized that French people actually say it.
I was watching Bondi Rescue and a lifeguard said โI can still run small (dillies? Or something like that) despite my injuryโ
