A list of puns related to "Bandidos Motorcycle Club"
Hi Reddit - I am Robert (or at least i will be for a little longer)... I was raised up in the Santa Cruz Mountains, my mother a Lutheran Pastor and my father a rocker in the 80βs band βThe Callβ. Ironically when i was 15yrs my father Michael Been was also producing other artists, and scored Schraderβs 1992 film 'Light Sleeperβ with Willem Dafoe while i was mostly a fly on the wall watching them collaborate ferociously. I vowed never to work in films after that and quickly ran away with the rockβnβroll circus. Only to end up back at the start again... so itβs all really just one big clown car missing a wheel. Weβre all living in certfiably insane times however, with so much unrest, severe mental health issues on the rise, that iβm no stranger to either, so itβs better to share and converse together when we can. There's a motorcycle club in Denmark, which is the first of its kind in the world. A Muslim-Jewish biker club known as Muju (Muslim + Jew) they hail from a country without particularly large populations of Muslims or Jews. Their symbol is a modified version of the hamsa, a symbol common to both traditions. They seek to promote coexistence between religious minorities by their example.
Founded in 2019 by Dan Meyrowitsch and Id Sohail Ashgar the idea was to start an old-school style motorcycle club with the goal of breaking cultural stereotypes about religious minorities. According to Meyrowitsch,
"We want to show people that just because we are Jews and Muslims, we arenβt that different from any other Danes,β he says. βAlthough Iβve never experienced much racism, I did find a certain distance between Jews and Muslims in Denmark β and itβs a shame. Thatβs why our club is a good way to show that it doesnβt have to be like that."
Said Idrissi was one of their first members. When he heard about the new biker club being formed he wanted to join as well. According to Idrissi,
βWhen I grew up, I often heard that Jews and Muslims donβt get along,β says Idrissi, who works as a carpenter. βUnfortunately, Iβve also heard Muslims saying that you canβt trust Jews. And many of them live in areas where there are no Jews, so they have no idea who they really are. But when I tell them about this club, theyβre curious about it. They want to know what itβs all about. I always make a point of passing on my positive experiences to themβ
The club frequently visits mosques, synagogues, and churches across Denmark. They celebrate Ramadan and Hanukkah together as well as visiting festivals, museums, and cemeteries. In 2019 (the year of their founding) a Jewish cemetery in Copenhagen was vandalized on the anniversary of Kristallnacht. Ever since then the group's members have served as peace guards, guarding Copenhagen's Jewish cemeteries on the anniversary of Kristallnacht every year.
You can read more about the group in the Haaretz article here as well as the
