I know the ongoing narrative is Kanye is using Julia to make Kim jealous, but in reality I think we’re just being gamed lol.

I don’t think they just met NYE- I think they’re crafting a whirlwind romance narrative to get more interest in this new line, she’ll be the spokesmodel, & it’s been in the works for a while. Could there be a connection or some lust there? Absolutely, but more likely I think we’re watching a campaign. I also think Kim is in on it.

Reasons I think this:

-Julia and Ye have been wearing head to toe balenciaga. Have we seen them in anything else? Has Kim not been wearing it a ton too? I think it’s less likely “real life theater” as that Kolloquium woman on Tiktok implied, and more likely that Kim is supporting it/in on it. She is still a Yeezy shareholder/part owner after all.

-collabs like this between brands take A LOT of time. There are legal hurdles to get through and negotiations involved. There would have been an agreed timeline/method of announcing it. Source- I’ve worked in companies that made these types of deals.

-a complete magazine photoshoot between Julia and Kanye, 6 days after meeting? That would be chaotic even for him. This was planned. Not to mention, basically a day after we’re all talking about it he drops that collab hint.

-the quotes I’ve seen from her about their time together are incredibly cringey lol. It’s clearly trying to get us talking. If it was real, any tidbits of info would come from “a source”. But also- Notice it’s centered around kanye staging a photoshoot At the restaurant.. her coming back to a hotel full of clothes. It’s all centered around fashion. I have a feeling we’re going to get some type of “she inspired tf out of me and I threw this line together the same week!” Narrative when the collab drops, and she’s the spokesmodel.

-Julia has muse energy. She fits the high fashion look, she’s New York af, and still has this edge to her that makes her interesting… trashing her baby daddy/ex husband in her story? Messy, and a total juxtaposition against being in a Tiffany ad about manners. It’s intriguing to a lot of people and, regardless of your personal opinion of her, she isn’t boring/cookie cutter and it’s the same ethos amber rose had. Tbh if kanye was in a better place mentally & they weren’t both fresh out of toxic relationships I’d love them together- I’m sure there’s mutual respe

Here is my conspiracy theory:

I believe this whole situation (Kim, Kanye, Julia fox etc) is PR for Balenciaga. They are all wearing the brand. Balenciaga used to not lend their clothes to celebrities, except for very special occasions (like Michelle Obama’s book tour). You could only borrow their clothes (from PR offices) for magazines. Why did it change now ?

Demna’s fashion identity is based on satire and a sort of humor. He reutilises /reinterprets popular, mundane and sometimes cheap objects for Balenciaga (like the Barbes bag, which is inspired from an infamous inexpensive plastic bags that you can see in many shops around Barbes – a neighborhood in Paris). I also remember a Balenciaga ad that was inspired by US reality shows.

If I remember correctly, Kim has started wearing Balenciaga looks frequently about a month or so before Demna Gvasalia did the red carpet fashion show (I think they were friendly before thanks to Kanye - he probably sent her gifts but nothing like now). This was a fashion show about fame, celebrity and pop culture; which make me think that Demna is currently collaborating with Kanye and Kim to satirize celebrity culture. They are making fun of it while also getting attention.

This was also what Demna was doing with Kim’s Met Gala look. Her coming out in this all black outfit was satire. It was also a “fuck you. I am one of the only person here that is famous enough to hide my face and whole body to this event, and still get recognized”.

I’m not sure whether what I’ve written is clear, but I know I cracked it!

Edit : Also, I had this idea because I saw a post on Reddit about Kanye’s Instagram story of girl walking. This video is very on brand with Balenciaga’s online presence.

Background (feel free to skip unless you are also a city bag fanatic): I am a millennial and I grew up watching Kate Moss, the Olsen twins, the Hilton sisters, Nicole Richie, and other stars of the noughties lug around "It" bags of the time (back when bags were big and supposed to fit your whole life instead of being too small to even fit your phone), and there was no bag I loved more than the Balenciaga city bag. I loved emo music and wore converse but also loved the idea of high fashion and the city bag seemed like the perfect way to have the best of both worlds. I decided that once I was a real adult making real money and living a fashionable life in a fashionable city, I would treat myself to a city bag.

After high school I go to Canal St during a trip to NYC and try to find a city bag but the closest I can find is a small clutch, clearly PU, with a random BALENCIAGA metal plate on the outside (written in Times New Roman no less), super duper calloutable, but I don't care and I love it and I wear that thing into the ground the next 5 years or so while dreaming of some day buying the auth.

Several years later, I had been in a position to afford an auth city bag for years but couldn't bring myself to pull the trigger. I've always struggled with fears of financial insecurity. Finally, in 2020, a few thing happen within a few months of each other: 1) I reach a significant career milestone that makes me feel more financially secure, 2) I find RepLadies, 3) it seems like Balenciaga is finally following through on their threat to discontinue the classic city, and 4) there's a global pandemic so I figure YOLO and I finally buy the auth even though I know high quality reps are an option, I figure I've earned the auth. After months of agonizing over which model to get I settle on the small size (bigger than trendy "tiny" bags but light enough for my sensitive neck/shoulders that have spent too long hunched over a computer screen, but big enough to actually hold things and I don't think it'll look too dated even when we're all carrying bigger bags again), in matte black (because duh), with matte black hardware (because <3), and croc embossed because I fucking love the look of croc.

I get the damn auth and I'm in love and it's the perfect bag for me. It makes me feel like I've made it. It makes me feel like the cool fashionable city girl I've wanted to feel like since I was a teen who couldn't imagine realistically affording luxuries greater than the Co

It wasn't by accident that Ye and Kim were almost exclusively wearing Balenciaga when photographed together over the past year and I think that definitely contributed to Balenciaga being the most searched fashion brand of 2021. It is also now clear to me that Demna's involvement in the Donda rollout was meant to build hype/visibility leading up to the announcement of their collaboration today. Without Kim by his side, talkability for Ye's new collection will definitely take a hit going forward and it makes sense to me why Julia was "Demnafied" so quickly into the relationship. While I can't speculate on whether they're genuinely together (it's not my business lol) I think it's safe to assume that the next 6 months will be critical for YxGxB and a new muse was needed.
