A list of puns related to "Baker Mayfield"
Mayfield is currently at 58 starts. Couch has 59 and is the current leader in starts.
If you count the team's history, Mayfield and Couch are behind Otto Graham, Frank Ryan, Bernie Kosar, and Brian Sipe.
He was 29-29 in the regular season as a starter. 30-30 if you include his playoff games.
With this loss hes now 29-30 or 30-31... whichever you choose to roll with.
With a losing record and 62% completion percentage for his career...where do you think the Cleveland front office is with him? Do they see him as the guy of the future?
Obviously he's been injured for some of this season but statistically he's regressed in several areas.
I had posted this as a comment in another thread, but a few people were asking me to dedicate an entire post to this.
I was just curious, so I looked up what Bakerβs scouting report was coming out of OU. Hereβs what this particular report said his key weakness were and what needed to be corrected:
-Drop-down release makes him more susceptible to batted passes
-Benefited from spread scheme that created huge passing windows to throw to
-Will see increased importance on post-snap reads
-Needs to improve full-field scanning
-Can be thrown off rhythm by delayed blitz packages and disguised coverages
-Footwork is erratic
-Creeps up in pocket towards pressure
-Ball placement wanes when he tries to gun it
-Deep balls hang on him
-Can't afford any delay in deep release to beat safety over the top
-Needs to eliminate his back foot throws
-Desire to make plays will lead to unnecessary sacks
-Has to prove he can reign in and control on-field edge and cockiness
It is VERY concerning that many (if not all) of these issues have crept up on him when heβs going into year FIVE. Itβs not like tonight was the 5th game of his career - this will be his fifth SEASON and heβs STILL making a lot of these mistakes. To make it worse, a lot of these are mechanical issues that Iβm sure some our QB coaches over the years tried to address. Not sure if heβs unable to make these changes due to physical limitations or muscle memory or if he just thinks that he knows better than anyone else (Iβd honestly prefer the latter), but itβs a major problem either way. Yes, heβs playing very hurt and I do think itβs affecting his play (how could it not?) but when your physical skills starts to fail you, thatβs when the mental side should excel, and Baker just doesnβt seem to me to have it.
For reference, you can find the scouting report I pulled that from here.
