A list of puns related to "Baka and Test"
D'ya have any anime recs with MCs like Akihisa? An idiot but not annoying. I also loved the fact that Yuuji and others had constant spotlight to shine. Laughed myself silly while watching it (def needed it bc we had 2 deaths in our fam).
Doesnt have to be Romance. Would prefer Comedy.
This was one of those impulse watches I did on Netflix because it had a nice cover picture and the selection at the time was dry. Like the other impulse watch I did during that time period, the castle of cagliostro, I was blown away by the quality of this anime and still enjoy it years later.
Baka and Test is a slice of life romantic comedy that takes place in a mainly school setting. It stars Akihisa Yoshii our titled "Baka" hero and his eccentric classmates in Class F as they grow, learn, and experience young love.
The series sets itself apart from other comedies and series like it with the Summoner Test Wars (ST Wars) element where your life in school is decided by your grades. You have all A's you get the finest the school has to offer with a gourmet cafe and everything you need to be the best and if you wind up in class F like our heroes you get to study on dirty kindergarden tables (later downgraded to cardboard boxes). You can upgrade your equipment by challenging a higher class than you to an ST War where you use Avatar's based on yourself to battle the other class. The higher your test scores the stronger your avatar. The winner gets the better equipment and the loser gets downgraded.
The battles feature a mixture of straight forward shonen action and A LOT of clever strategy due to the fact that our heroes are in Class F and can't win through straight out power alone. These moments let our heroes shine the best and show us they aren't the idiots they keep telling us they are even if they're still lazy.
The comedy in the series is perfect. Not since classic Simpsons's have I seen a series that gets it's characters so well. Every joke despite there being hundreds per episode, both visual and physical, all fit in character with what we know about them so far and sometimes even teaches us new things about them.
There's Hideyoshi who is frequently mistaken as a girl, Akihisa being a chick magnet and an idiot at the same time which gets him in a lot of trouble and hurt frequently, Shoda's pervyness and spy abilities, Yuji's the local class leader and strategist's straight man attitude, and Shouko a class A student who frequently proposes marriage to Yuji and a bunch of other running gags with a bunch of hilarious characters are shown constantly and are always funnier than the last time.
These hilarious character relationships also help build the romantic backbone of the series. Everytime Akihisa is being pummeled by his love interests Minami a

Hey guys! Anybody here remembers Baka to test? I'm doing a ReWatch right now and it's crazy how this series never got a 3rd season, so much fun.
If you haven't watched the show then what are you waiting? Beware of the FFF Inquisition.
Something that has a good cast and some light hearted action. It doesn't have to be super funny like baka to test I just want something that can make me pumped up with action but can still give a happy feeling after each ep
Looking for any sort of comedy like that. It doesn't necessarily have to be school romance, although it seems that might be my type as well. I like the comedies that don't take themselves too seriously. Also watched Zombie Desu Ka and Haganai. Didn't like them as much as the other three I mentioned, but they were still good.
Any recommendations that are similar?
EDIT: Also watched World God Only Knows and Date A Live. Definitely preferred the latter of the two.
I don't want spoilers or any in depth analysis of it. I just want to get the gist of what it's about and if it's worth the watch. It's got 2 season so it must be solid, but I want to know what I'm going to be watching before I start it.
What's the general plot?
What classification of anime is it?
I love the humor and interesting concept of Baka to Test, yet, it's been years now and there's really no hope of it having a comeback... Can anyone recommend me anime like it? Thank you!
