A list of puns related to "BC Hydro"
We are keeping the house at 16 in the evenings and 18-19 in the days and even our little place is costing an arm and a leg.
Letβs get those blankets and extra layers on folks. Stay warm in (and out) there.

Hey, if anyone has any tips on becoming a successful candidate for bc hydro's pre-apprentice PLT program that would be greatly appreciated.
Background information:
Last year I graduated from an Electrical pre-apprenticeship with high standings and since then have been working in construction electrical for 2 months now. I wasn't really aware of all the possible avenues within the electrical bubble but found out about PLT's and knew that was something I wanted to work towards right away. I can work at heights and I'm physically capable.
BC Hydro is a dream company and there will be lots of people competing for this position so if you have any tips or insights please comment or message me! Thanks.
My buddy doesnβt have Reddit and doesnβt know where to ask so I thought Iβd ask here.
They rent a 5yr old 2bed2bath apartment in Langley.
They have the heat system thatβs attached to the baseboard and comes outwards.
They usually complain about their unit being cold while they blasted their heat on 30Β°- all windows shut.
I house sat for a week and was surprised when I turned up the heat to 30Β° in every room, a few hours later it would be cold as shit and there wouldnβt be heat coming out of the baseboard heater thing.
Is this typical for apartments? Neither of us have lived in apartments until this year. Even my 500sqft 1bed1bath has the same problem, I have a small heater running when Iβm home.
Anyways, please let me know your experiences their $300 hydro bill is 6x higher than mine, thatβs nuts to me lol.
Thanks.

Personally as someone who has all electric heat and hotwater I feel the step 2 billing unfairly punishes people who use less fossil fuels for home heat.
Within the next couple of years the CoV and the GreenBC plan will begin actively discouraging Natral gas heat and pushing all new construction to be all electric, to me this is ideologically opposed to how the 2 step system discourages electric options (which is already more expensive than NG)
Then theres time of use, which they have in Ontario I think this is really bad for working class people and benefits buisnesses the most.
Please take the survey and help shape the future of our hydro bills.
Woman is in critical condition, dogs are dead, and neighbours are asking whether Hydro knew about downed line
A woman is in critical condition in hospital, and her two dogs are dead after contacting a BC Hydro power line in B.C.'s Fraser Valley.
BC Hydro confirms the power line in question appears to have been knocked down in a storm on Thanksgiving weekend β a full week before the incident.
But the power wasn't cut off, and the corporation has no record of anyone calling to report the line coming down, it said.
Neighbour Ted Chalupa said the woman's life may have been saved by a woman at the nearby Kilby Provincial Park campground who heard the incident.
"There was a woman at the campsite who heard a horrific scream come from the corn field and she jumped onto the dyke, and virtually saw the woman ablaze in the cornfield and called 911," Chalupa said.

Info bulletin Jul 12, 2021 BC Hydro taking steps to ensure safe, reliable delivery of power to Vancouver Island
VANCOUVER β BC Hydro is working around the clock to restore a damaged submarine cable that delivers power to Vancouver Island.
On July 8, BC Hydroβs monitoring system detected a bulge and oil leak in one of its submarine cables, which extends from the Sunshine Coast to Vancouver Island. The cable was taken out of service, and there is currently no customer impact. While the cause of the leak is still being determined, it has been contained and repairs are underway.
Over the weekend, BC Hydro found that there was some bulging of two other cables. As a result, BC Hydro decided to reduce the load on these cables and has been monitoring their performance.
BC Hydro regularly monitors its infrastructure and inspections on all its submarine cables that serve Vancouver Island were recently completed in mid-June 2021 with no deficiencies identified. BC Hydro is investigating the possibility of the impact of the extreme heat in late June as the cause of the damage.
BC Hydro is using its available generation capacity on Vancouver Island and independent power producers to meet customer demand. It is also informing its largest industrial customers on Vancouver Island of this challenge in the event they need to reduce load in the future.
The safety and reliability of the electrical system is BC Hydroβs top priority. The contingency measures being undertaken are part of its commitment to ensure the continued delivery of safe and reliable power to customers on Vancouver Island. Additional contingency plans are in place should BC Hydro need to further reduce electricity demand on Vancouver Island.

Hey fellow PFC fans. Just a tip - if you're fed up with the Hydro Pole situation, especially with the most recent game and BC Hydro just arbitrarily shutting down one entire side of the pitch area, with no resolution in sight, email the team your thoughts on it and your displeasure.
I did after the last game, and was told that the team not only appreciated the email, but want to use it when they go into discussions with BC Hydro and the City of Langford. They're using it as ammunition.
So use their contact page to send them an email, or if you're a season ticket holder, contact your sales rep with an email.
How can I keep my dogs cool in the house when thereβs not gonna be any fans or power?
