I was listening to Mike Duncan's podcasts on the revolutions of 1848 and Anita Garibaldi was mentioned. She seems like a fascinating person but a quick google didn't turn up any non-Wikipedia English language results.

The developers of Vic 3 have stated that the game is going to be released with content for the Empire of Brazil. This makes sense, given that the nation is usually one of the most played across multiple Paradox games, and showcases one particular event of 19th Century Latin American history: the so-called Guerra dos Farrapos (Ragamuffin War).

The Ragamuffin War fits into a broader context of separatist rebellions within the provinces of the Empire, during the tumultous period of regency (1831 - 1840) after the abdication and death of the unpopular D. Pedro I, and the wait for the adulthood of the teenager Pedro II, who would later prove to be a charismatic leader capable of stabilizing the country. The period's rebellions would spread through the entire nation, characterized by movements for liberal republicanism (separatism of the abandoned capital states in the Sabinada and Praieira revolts), reaction to widespread poverty, warmongering landlords, and slavery (the lower-class revolts of the Cabanagem and Balaiada), and even the desire for the creation of a Brazilian Islamic Caliphate, led by enslaved Muslim Arabic and Yoruba peoples who were forbidden from practicing their religion (the Malês revolt).

However, the separatist desires of the Rio Grande de São Pedro province stand out as the most successful, being the only revolt to proclaim an independent state: the Piratini Republic, which lasted from 1836 to 1845. The movement counted from support from, among other things, the neighboring Oriental Republic of Uruguay (formerly the Cisplatine Province, which acquired independence in a similar manner a decade earlier), military support from the Carbonari revolutionaries (led by Anita and Giuseppe Garibaldi, unifiers of Italy, while the latter was exiled to South America), and, particularly, the driving sense of Gaúcho cultural identity.

Gaúcho culture is present in a specific portion of South America, known as the Pampas (could be translated as "great plains", or also "great nothing"), which stretch across regions of Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, and Paraguay. The culture is deliberately distinct from the "main culture" of the respective countries, having been born out of a fusion of Guarani indigenous traditions with Iberian boiadeiros, being comparable to the vaqueros and cowboys of the Mexican-American border, Given that the Piratini Republic is present in the screenshots of the map at game start, I believe it would make sense to separate Gaúcho cultur

Pesquisei muito apartamentos para alugar em vários bairros e acabei afunilando a busca para, essencialmente, esses bairros, em ordem crescente de preferência: Santana, Petrópolis, mont serrat e moinhos.

Gostei particularmente da rua anita Garibaldi. O que podem me dizer da região, em termos de comércio, bares, serviços e segurança?

Eu não conheço NINGUÉM na cidade, seria legar fazer algumas amizades também.

I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.

Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.

For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.

I said "hey look, an escaPEA"
