A list of puns related to "American Pastoral"
So I just finished the quest w Micah where we rob a bankerβs train. I thought I received the campβs portion of the money, and Iβve just got back to camp. We only have $70, so I want to deliver the campβs cut, but I canβt find it in my inventory. How do I deliver it?
I know this might be unnecessary, but I finished Mad Men last January and I read American Pastoral last April. As time goes by and the more I reflect upon these stories, they both depict the hypocrisies of societal perfection and success and the disillusionment of traditional (mostly Christian) values. Did any of you thought the same?
Also, I am from the Philippines so I may not really view these works in the lens most of you use when watching them, but I'm still familiar with American values since, after all, USA colonized us and has a huge influence to our culture.
I found this book to be so in credibly well written. I was drawn in from the first few pages. I was fascinated by Zuckermann and his memories of the young Swede and what he represented for the local community. I thought it was impressive how Roth made the narrative switch from Zuvkermann to the Swede so cinematically, it almost felt dream-like.
Oh the Swede. Poor old Swede. He was a good man. It was heartbreaking to see his life crumble to pieces around him.
I want to know these things from you guys:
- How do you feel about the style of story-telling in this book?
- Which characters did you sympathise with and which ones could you not stand?
Also someone tell me what the meaning of this book is! Thank you
I picked up the book because I knew it was set in the 60s in America and revolved around some of the tumultuous events of that era, which excited my inner Mad Man-superfan. I was not disappointed by the book in itself. It was beautifully written (Roth has quite a way with words) and was full of very interesting, multi-faceted characters - just like Mad Men.
I noticed that some of the elements of the main plot are quite similar to some of Mad Men's sub-plots. (SPOILERS FOR THE BOOK) The book as anyone who has read it or at least read of it is about a middle-class American family who find themselves drawn into the centre of a tragic event after their daughter commits an act of political violence in the town they live in before becoming a fugitive from the law. The main character and his wife strongly resemble Don and Betty, in that they are both exceptionally good-looking and appear to embody suburban domestic bliss. Their daughter, however, becomes critical of her parents, essentially calling them superficial, which reminded me of Sally's disdain for her parents for the same reason. I also see a lot of similarities between Roger and his family, with his daughter cutting loose from society to join the counterculture movement.
So yes I would encourage anyone to give it read if you're a die-hard fan of MM. Has anyone read it? Did you like it?
Fuck βem

FedPo says the Franklin printing is the true first edition of this book, but which is it really? The Trade copies are on the market for much higher prices.
For some reason, every time I reply this mission to get gold, Dead Eye does auto tagging. It doesnβt do it on any other mission. Why and how could I stop this from happening? It makes getting gold 10x harder, and itβs extremely infuriating.
How do I pick this mission up? I freed Micha from Jail, the walkthrough's list that as the pre-requisite and that I need to meet him at his camp but I have no map marker for this mission. Any help would be appreciated.
GOT IT.
Previous archived threads were a little thin on advice, so here's what worked for me, if anybody is having trouble with this one:
Skip the opening cutscene.
I think the 3-4 seconds immediately after the first cutscene ends is one of the most important and overlooked moments in the mission. You are not forced to match Micah's speed UNTIL he mounts his horse. So if you're quick and time it just right, you can run to your horse, break into a gallop as you're mounting, and gallop all the way to the turn at the top of the first little hill before Micah is mounted and you slow to a crawl. I think this saves a good 10 seconds or so, which is an eternity on this mission.
As you're on the long approach to the second cutscene, you have to make sure you're going as fast as you're allowed, but try to cut corners and get out ahead of Micah wherever possible. He will speed up to get ahead of you, and you can shave a few more seconds.
During the robbery, get the headshots on the riders and kill the gunman on the coach as quickly as possible, leaving the driver alive.
Gallop out ahead of the coach as fast as you can. As you're doing so, equip a long-scoped rifle in the LEFT weapon slot. Keep running out ahead of the coach, go under the underpass, gallop a little ways into the woods, hit the brakes, turn around and kill the driver as he approaches. As mentioned in previous threads, you want to kill the driver as late as possible without waiting so long that the wheel falls off. With a little trial and error, you can get the best position.
Plug the driver, hop off your horse, and get on the coach ASAP. If your horse is in the way, whistle to get her to move before Micah takes the reins.
After Micah hands you the repeater, equip the long-scoped rifle instead, and use some power up to max your deadeye. It MUST be a deadeye enhancer that does NOT affect your health.
When you hit the third cutscene, skip it ASAP.
As you come out of the cutscene and are in the river, run BACKWARDS and get behind the coach. You want to stay fairly close, but hang back far enough to give yourself the angles you need to take out the O'Driscolls.
Deadeye and headshots, as fast as you can. Try to take out the O'Driscolls who are further away and let Micah handle some of the closer ones. In particular, try to get the two on the incoming coach as quickly as possible. The goal here is to kill them off as fast as you can while also preventing Micah from r
After killing the odriscolls in the ambush you shoot the lock of the coach open and the game crashes when i do this. Twice now.
Thanks for any help
FIX: Don't loot any Odriscoll bodies and shoot the lock immediately.
So what should I read next???? Thanks!
Hey,
after today's update, the game crashes a lot. It apparently also crashes during the quest 'An American Pastoral Scene', after killing all the O'Driscols. I am looting them, and a few seconds after the marker to return to the stagecoach appears, the game freezes and aborts.
Is this a known bug? Or did it just happen with the update?
