A list of puns related to "American Idiot (musical)"
Basically what the title says. Personally I have mixed feelings on it, but I was discussing it with a friend last night and was curious about what others thought.
Small edit: tell me anything! Did you see it, were you a theater kid, do you like what they did with the music and the story?
MAJOR EDIT: a bunch of people havenβt seen it/want to know where to watch it so here goes nothing!
Broadway Idiot (the documentary about the original Broadway production w/ BJA!) for FREE in good quality! | LA Warehouse production pro-shot (2016) | Local New Jersey production proshot (2018) | Little playlist of assorted stuff from the Broadway production | Pace University production (my personal favorite, 2018)
There was also another thread looking for recordings of the show semi recently, so there are good resources there as well (shoutout to u/pixelmeow for bringing that thread to my attention! They also have some of the best quality audio bootlegs of the OG Broadway cast Iβve found!)
Hope this helps for any curious souls!
Just wondering if anyone has any information on this. Did the band go through and re-record all the instrumentals for the original broadway cast recording? obviously some of them are different arrangements, and i know the mixes are definitely different. it's hard to tell if they are complete re-recordings. i'm thinking the drums were re-used form the original album and a lot of guitar was re-done. couldn't find much online about it. the drum fills on letterbomb sounds pretty similar to the album but then the guitar sounds totally different.
mostly just curious if they actually played some of the rarer songs again like Too Much Too Soon or Favorite Songs.
The Musical had a Piano/Voice/Guitar book, which I have, but it also apparently had a tab book, as evidenced by this listing from the publisher. Does anyone have this?
I thought it was cool
The title says it all. I can't find it anywhere, so I'm guessing the name itself is something like "gjvfRyfpjh" as with any kinda pirated stuff. If you have the recording, please tell me
I pretty much only listen or watch super mainstream musicals or the ones that are done locally in my small town. I love theater, but im not really gonna spend hours hunting and trading musicals I know nothing about to get a musical.
However...I'd do anything for my beloved Green Day. So I'm here asking to see my hero in a musical based on my favorite album of all time.
So please, if you have american idiot with BJA, I need it. Im begging lol.
Kaveh Taherian and Lindsay Ellis (Author and YouTube video essayist/former Nostalgia Chick) talk about The American Idiot Musical and Green Day in general in an episode of their musical analysis podcast "Musicalsplaining"

Thanks.
Hey everybody! Hope this is ok to post in here. So I've been working on this rock opera about two teenagers who run away together during the apocalypse (I know, fitting right?). The first chapter came out this week and I'll be releasing a new one every Friday. Seeing as it's so inspired by musical theater, I'd love to hear what you guys think!

I'd love one of Billie Joe as St. Jimmy, please! I have nothing to trade btw lmao, the whole reason I watch bootlegs is BECAUSE I can't go to musicals live, so, I don't have any recorded.
So I was sitting around at 3 am listening to American Idiot a few days ago, like I do, and started to think. "HMMM.... I WONDER WHAT SAINT JIMMY'S CLASSPECT WOULD BE..." And I kinda... Classpected him. Along with what kind of dreamer and blood color. Saint Jimmy would be a derse dreamer, mutant blood, witch of rage. I'm now obsessed with trying to classpect the rest of the main characters. Anyone want to help?
As the title says, I was wondering if there was a high quality recorded version of it. I know of the studio recordings of the musical versions of the songs, as well as the documentary. There seems to be some badass footage of the musical shot for the documentary. I was hoping the show was put up in itβs entirety somewhere. Or if you have a link to a high quality fan-recorded performance that would be cool too. Most of the ones on YouTube arenβt that great.
Personally I believe it is a great show/soundtrack but whenever I see it being spoke about on the subreddit itβs blasted with downvotes. So what gives?
I get the part with Jesus of suburbia and whatsername, but I donβt get the parts like favourite son. There are also like other people like in before the lobotomy. Who are they. Why are they here?
So Iβve always felt that βLazy Bonesβ would fit really well in the AI musical. Also maybe wild one?
Never seen one ever posted online before and thought I'd share. Have had this for years and only played once. Discs, booklet, and case are in "Mint" condition since I keep my Promo CD's Protected in baggies and stored neatly on my bookshelf.
I absolutely love this album. I think itβs a masterpiece and when I heard it at 14 it changed by life because it was the first album that ever spoke to me. The linear story made it even better and more cinematic I guess. Itβs shocking relevant today. Looking back, it was everywhere too. I donβt think any rock album reached the heights of American Idiot since and I could kind of see why. I guess Iβm asking what everyone else thinks. EDIT: In terms of overall scale of equaling or eclipsing American Idiot in terms of scope.
Obviously, both were big as j
place in Green Day career and the band's legacy.
Personally, I like Dookie, as an era, as an album, more. Green Day had already become big band in the community of punk bands.
and so, uh..Here's my question: Whic was bigger as a blow-up: Dookie or American Idiot
Which of those is more big piece in Green Day's history?
I bet it's American Idiot, because it has sold more and it was a total bomb after Green Day releasing Warning and getting not so good reviews for it. The storyline between the characters. And the songs wake up more feelings than those on Dookie's all the way punk-attitude.
What are your thoughts?
Currently in a production of it and its gotten me really into Green Day over this past year (playing St. Jimmy) I was just wondering (for the people who do know it) if most of you think its a good version of this music or if some of you think its not "green day" enough? I personally think its an amazing musical and knows when to change the source material and when to keep it in line with the original album.
I have 3 Holiday/Boulevard of broken dreams and of course American Idiot
I kinda wanna see the musical just to know what it's about
is there any chance of it ever happening? it would be so cool
