A list of puns related to "21st Century Breakdown"
21stCB is tied with Insomniac as my favorite album but one flaw I see with it is its choice of singles. Don't get me wrong, I adore all the songs and how much variety there is between them but I feel like they could've chosen stronger tracks to represent the album. I'd keep the title track as a single but I'd replace Know Your Enemy, Last of the American Girls and 21 Guns. Instead, I'd choose Peacemaker, ΒΏViva La Gloria? (Little Girl) and American Eulogy: Mass Hysteria / Modern World because they're fast-paced, epic and they stand out from the crowd. My personal favorite GD song of all time, East Jesus Nowhere, is technically a single too but they unfortunately never made a music video so that would've been amazing to see. Ultimately, I believe these changes would've made 21stCB shine in a whole new light, earning more positive reception from fans and critics alike. The music videos and imagery would've been cooler overall and on par with AI's iconic aesthetic. Who knows, maybe the people who don't totally love this album would've appreciated it more and looked back on it more fondly.
Anyone have an elaborate breakdown of the meaning behind this album? Always been curious. Thanks :)
I don't know how I ended up in this subreddit when I first joined reddit years ago, but I'm glad I did. Ever since Quarantine started, I've been diving a little deeper into the 2000s Punk ( I don't know what the exact genre is tbh cause like I said, I'm still new).
long story short, I found this subreddit years later and heard a clip of one of their songs and I was really drawn to it. I can't remember what song it is but I went on to my Spotify and I am halfway through the entire album and so far, I am loving it.
I've been looking for a couple of days for 21st Century Breakdown (PS: the song in particular, not the entire album, but it would be helpful) bass tabs, I found 3 on songsterr but I am not sure if these are right because they don't quite sound like the original.
Usually when this happens I try to look on YouTube to see, if maybe someone made a video with tabs on it, I found covers, but without the tabs.
What should I do?
Doesn't Green Day have some kind of official bass tabs or something somewhere?
despite being one of their most successful albums i donβt see many people talking about it so let me know in the comments if itβs one of your favourite GD albums! Were you there when it came out? I was 7 years old and I remember seeing the iconic album cover everywhere at every record shop

In Billie's "Welcome to my panic" Audible episode: https://youtu.be/ksf42II14_o?t=4252 he talks about the writing and recording of 21st Century breakdown at 1:10:52, a few points he discussed here might explain part of the reason why we never hear much of 21stCBD outside of Know Your Enemy, even 21 Guns as big as it was has been played less in the last 11 years (42 times since 2011) than it had been in the entirety of 2010 (played 52 times in that year alone) : https://www.setlist.fm/stats/songs/green-day-13d68939.html?songid=3bd6b030.
Some quotes from the episode:
>"It was a hard album to make, one of the hardest things I've had to do, because I set the bar so high, and I did it to myself."
>
>"It became daunting and really stressfull, it was making me crazy"
>
>"Sometimes when you're writing records it feels like someones holding a gun to your head, but actually I was the one that was holding the gun"
>
>"It's one of my favourite records for Green Day for sure, but I have a hard time going back and listening to 21stCBD because it reminds me of all the hard work that went into it"
There I said it.
Bought the cd today and listened to the album for the first time in a while. Ino it's not that popular but I genuinely think it's a good album, although it's a bit long, with loads of underrated songs. I think it would have been better if they shortened it down to around 10-12 and had a better album overall. 8/10.
Hello π
My daughter wants the 21st Century Breakdown Vinyl for Christmas and I'm struggling to find it in the UK. Is it rare/hard to find? The only one I can find is about Β£130 which seems excessive.
Any advice is massively appreciated

I'm just curious about this because I don't know what I personally would say is the closest.
THE TRANSITION IS THE BEST ONE OUT OF THE WHOLE ALBUM AND ITS CUT OFF BECAUSE YOU NEED TO SWITCH DISCS WHAT THE FUCK GREEN DAY
This album is amazing and really encompasses everything that is great about Green Day. So many best songs and classic Green Day sounds mixed with some of their best lyrics. It was a great time to still be a Green Day fan when this came out. Hope it got the praise it deserved!
I mean Green Day themselves usually only play know your enemy and maybe 21 guns at todayβs live shows. Itβs like the band themselves hardly even acknowledge the album. Itβs sad considering i personally think itβs right next to American idiot in terms of music quality and sound. Plus thereβs so many bangers on this bad boy and different styles that we never hear the band try again. I just wish the album got the recognition it deserves
I feel like everything before 21st century breakdown was the most realest green day has ever been, I still like them now, I like everything after 21st century breakdown, and father of all motherfuckers was the most enjoyable trash I've heard, lol, but I've just had the thought that 21st century breakdown was the last best album they've made

Stand Master Description: Malavitaβs background is a very very very sad story. Malavitaβs name wasnβt originally Malavita. It was originally Marco and βMarcoβ was born into the Profeta family which in Italian means Prophet. The Profeta Family was said to be a family created by god himself, while this may be true the people in the family surely werenβt meant to be Prophets. The family was very trashy and full of horrible people. This is where βMarcoβ comes in, Marcos Parents or specifically his father was a very horrible man and his life revolved around 3 things, Alcohol, Drugs, and Money. One day Marcoβs Parents were killed in a car crash all due to his father, who was drunk and high while driving, and after this the 7 year old Marco had to live somewhere since his family hated Marcoβs father so much that he would turn into his father even though he was only 7. Marco was tossed around foster home after foster home until he turned 18 and was left to fend for himself. All of this left Marcoβs, now Malavita after one of his foster family renamed him Malavita, life in shambles and resorted the 3 things his father knew, Alcohol, Drugs, and instead of money he went after Crimes. After a year or two on the streets he joined a gang called Passione. After passing Polpoβs test he started work in the drug side of the business. But Malavita never actually passed the test, he relight the lighter and was pierced by Black Sabbath but for some weird reason he never showed the signs of a stand ability. After only 6 months working in passione the drug business was dismembered after a new boss called βGiorno Giovannaβ stopped the whole operation. Ever member was given the opportunity to either do one of two things either A. Be reassigned to a new group or B. Leave the gang. Malavita tried to choose to be reassigned but for some reason there was a heavy influence to leave the gang so he did. Now Malavita is back on the streets and completely hopeless this where he decided to use whatever money he had left from Passione to fly to America and start his own gang similar to Passione. So he did and named his gang βSimbolo del Dollaroβ which in Italian means Dollar Sign. After he created his gang to started to fee

This album is where Green Day's lyrical style became more metaphorical and far less consistent, so I thought it would be interesting to rank the lyrics. Format will be "best lyric" "worst lyric"
Song of the Century - "Sing us a song of the century / That's louder than bombs and eternity" "Tell me a story that's by candlelight / Waging a war and losing the fight"
21CB - "I praise liberty, the freedom to obey" "Video games through the towers' fall"
Know Your Enemy - "The insurgency will rise / When the blood's been sacrificed / Don't be blinded by the lies in your eyes" "Silence is an enemy against your urgency, so rally up the demons of your soul"
Β‘Viva La Gloria! - "Weather the storm and don't look back on last November / When your banners were burning down" "Your slogan's a gun for hire"
Before the Lobotomy - "The brutality of reality / Is the freedom that keeps me from... (into the outro)" "I got so high I can't stand up"
Christian's Inferno - "There's fire in my veins and it's pouring out like a flood" "Like a catastrophic baby, maybe, maybe your the chemical reaction"
Last Night on Earth - "I'm here to honor you / If I lose everything in the fire / Did I ever make it through?" "Giving all my love to you"
East Jesus Nowhere - "I threw my crutches in the river of a shadow of doubt" "The sirens of decay will infiltrate the faith fanatics"
Peacemaker - "Well, this is a stand-off, a Molotov cocktail's on the house / You thought I was a write off? You better think again" "For what will divide us, the righteous and the meek"
Last of the American Girls - "She wears her overcoat for the coming of the nuclear winter" "She makes enough to survive for a holiday of working class"
Murder City - "We are the last call and we're too pathetic" "This empty laughter has no reason / Like a bottle of your favorite poison"
ΒΏViva La Gloria? (Little Girl) - "Little one, little one, your soul is purging / Of love and razorblades your blood is surging" "In the wake, all the way, no rhyme or reason"
Restless Heart Syndrome - "I think they've found another cure / For broken hearts and feeling insecure" "So take me to emergency / 'Cause something seems to be missing"
Horseshoes and Handgrenades - "Well you missed me, kissed me, now you better kick me down" "All the deceivers and cheaters, I think we've got a bleeder right now"
The Static Age - "All I wanna know is a god-damned thing / Not
... keep reading on reddit β‘I only recently realized that 21st Century Breakdown is, at least in my opinion, Green Days best sounding body of work ever. Don't get me wrong. I much prefer Nimrod, Warning and American Idiot as a whole with Nimrod being their second best overall sounding album in my opinion.
Everything in 21st Century Breakdown sounds polished, but still has that rawness to it that I enjoy. The new sounds they play around with at times also add to that sound in such a good way. The Trilogy has great sounding instrumentation as well but in my opinion is far too polished and the vocals, I find, to be less polished and even a little adolescent sounding at times. Sort of a regression in a way. What do you guys think?
If possible could please share them?

Has anyone else thought of Lights Out (21cb bonus track/b-side) as the opposite of See the Light? While See the Light is the optimistic and light at the end of the tunnel kind of song at the end of the album, Lights Out is the opposite. Pessimistic and no light at the end of the tunnel. This can be seen just from the song title which is opposite to See the Light, as well as the darkΒ lyrics
"Lights out, here comes the night
As the darkness falls over the light
Lights out, there goes the day
And this fear that comes won't go away"
It could be possible that this could be consideredΒ an alternate ending to 21st Century Breakdown which ends the album on a much more depressing note. Maybe the band intended for this to be a closer but opted for See the Light to give that light at the end of the tunnel. What are your thoughts?
