I've got a group of about 12 people who like to play boardgames and we're trying to find a place that can accommodate such a large group. We are probably going to play on Saturdays or Sundays during slow hours and would prefer to do it in a pub or restaurant so we can eat and drink while we play.

Well I'm happy and a little surprised most things have resolved a little more than 24hrs after they started. I guess this is the benefit of people working on your behalf behind the scenes.

So my sister is in another time zone and has a few hours on me. She apparently has been working on finding out about Dave. Her husband used to moonlight as a PI in grad school and she has a preternatural ability of finding details about people. She's a little creep in a good way. She also has a social media presence where I do not.
I gave her Dave's full real name and things I knew about him (like an address I had for him and names of his wife and the two kids I know). She went to town.
She told me that his home went on the market about 6mo ago and sold pretty quick for a ton more than what it was bought for years ago. It's a sellers market and it was a huge sale.
I was like......oh that's so interesting.
She then went to say that she looked around in the city and surrounding towns and couldn't find him buying any other property. That it looked like his house sold for $$$$ but that's it.
So I then texted my two friends from yesterday. I told them what my sister found. That it looks like Dave sold his house and doesn't actually have a water heater problem because he doesn't have a water heater.

My (25F) good friend (26F) who we'll call Kaye lost her boyfriend of only one month. They were friends for about a year before they started dating, and the relationship only lasted a month before he died. Without going into the details, it was a very horrible and traumatic death so Kaye was naturally traumatized and afterwards just seemed shut down emotionally. It's been several months now and she's still behaving like a zombie - we happen to work together and while she's working competently, she acts like some cold robot, and even made a comment recently about her late boyfriend as if he was still alive. Obviously, she knows that he isn't, but she isn't processing this at all and has dismissed my urging to get therapy over this. Itโs hard to see her this way when she's young, incredibly gorgeous (she used to model even), and honestly wasting her life, grieving for a month-long relationship after several months have gone by.
My boyfriend has a good friend, Steve, who we both agree would get along really well with Kaye. He's good-looking, charismatic, and several of his interests line up with Kaye's. He knows of her but they had never properly met or been introduced, and he was also interested in getting to know her. I tried asking Kaye at work if she would be amenable to dating again and she just kind of stared at me for a moment, looking a little horrified even, and then changed the subject.. So, my boyfriend and I thought we would invite Kaye out and also invite Steve without telling Kaye. This was NOT an attempted double date. We simply wanted them to meet and see if anything clicked. Kaye actually seemed to be in a better mood that day. She seemed a little reluctant when I invited her out with my boyfriend and I, but ultimately agreed. We met up at a bar and when she showed up, I introduced her to Steve, and she just kind of froze. While we chatted, she remained really cold, excused herself, and then never came back. Steve was hurt and Kaye was ignoring my texts asking what happened. The next day, another friend of hers was berating us for trying to set Kaye up knowing that she wasn't ready to date. He claimed that Kaye told him that she had gone and cried in the bathroom. Kaye also messaged me days later going off on me for trying to set her up. I tried to defend myself, explaining that I was not setting her up and simply trying to get her to meet someone new, that this was not a double date and would have just been a group of friends hanging out. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.

Hello, it is me, Offe!
Iโm a 28 cycles old Human manufactured and operated up here in the north. Iโve worked here at the Arctic office for two years and recently joined the Custodian team as a junior programmer. Guido and I have previously worked on other projects together and he has taught me a lot about game development, but most importantly I learned some tips on how to improve my diplomatic interaction protocols. Where I would often use phrases like โitโs an absolute disasterโ, he would instead prefer โThis is pretty good, but it can be even better!โ. This may prove to be important later on.
I would like to say Thank You to all the people out there who took time playing on the open beta and provided us with feedback and bug reports. If you ever find the AI in a situation where it is doing something strange, please bug report and most importantly attach save games, it helps tremendously! For example, two separate issues were found and addressed with the new job changes.
And lastly, this dev diary will contain older changes and screenshots that were made long before the beta, but also new changes which were not part of the beta, meaning that you still have some new changes waiting for you in the 3.3 release.

Hi RedPill Ladies! I just wanted to share some thoughts and observations concerning my boyfriend and my decision to be honest with him about my desires.
We're in our late teens/early twenties, and we've been dating for almost six months. Now, from the beginning of our relationship, I was (relatively) upfront about what I wanted. Honestly, I kind of surprised myself, because I normally do not have that much guts when it comes to expressing my feelings directly. I guess even from the beginning I had confidence in him, and he's very sweet and understanding...and sooo handsome. But anyway, my honesty started out as a gradual process. I didn't go from 0-I want to be a housewife in one sitting. I did little things, like 'confessing' to him that I preferred it when he made big decisions, even though I also wanted to be consulted. I told him how much I admire him, and how attractive his take-charge attitude is (and ladies, let me tell you, it is so attractive that I'm blushing right now just thinking about it).
He was definitely amenable to all of this. He had his moments of being delightfully 'old-fashioned', such as his insistence that he pay for dates and small gifts for me, his protectiveness and concern for my safety, and his all-around gentleness with me, but I still wasn't sure where exactly he stood on the kind of traditional relationship that I desired, where the man is the Captain and his wife is the first mate. A lot of men/boys in my age group aren't exactly mature or interested in that kind of relationship, which is understandable, especially since we're all growing up in an era where traditionalism is frowned upon. But I was honest from the beginning, and more direct than I thought I was capable of.
One thing that made me worry was when we started discussing children. I told him that I wanted to be married before I have children, and he reacted with some surprise, saying that he hadn't expected that from me. I was irrationally worried for a bit, but then he said he understood, and it was a sensible decision. Still, I wasn't 100% convinced that we were on the same page, but by then, I was falling in love so I decided to continue expressing what I wanted.
So, I told him I wanted to be a housewife. And if anything can scare away a 22 year old man, that certainly can lmao. I think I was pretty reasonable about it. I talked about wanting time for family, wanting the chance to take care of a house and kids without worrying about any stressful jobs.

In order to prompt discussion about how to overcome and protect against certain existential threats Brave, Inc. and BAT may face in the years to come, I am posting a series on five major risks I see from a top-down, macro perspective. As a society, it would be preferable for the Brave model to succeed, lest we become doomed to a life of eternal asymmetric information exploitation. If you have any ideas about how these threats can be mitigated, please share.
Existential Risk No. 1 โ Capture-and-Kill.
One of the most significant risks I see is the classic buy-and-kill strategy, or variation thereof. Buy-and-neuter? If I were Google, Microsoft, or any one of a dozen top media conglomerates, you can bet I would be thinking hard about how to capture Brave, Inc. Convertible-debt financing? Warrant plays? I would have our bankers calling the Brave team offering cash and loans up the wazoo, in the hopes of getting a piece of the equity and decision-making pie. If the leaders at the top were not amenable, then we would work the junior execs as part of a long game.
I understand Brave, Inc. wishes to remain private. That is good. Ideally, if all goes well, Brave, Inc. will be one of the first companies in the next 5-7 years that goes โpublicโ via an entirely new crypto ownership structure, which would ideally be less vulnerable to the questionable games allowed by the regulators of our current equity markets (naked shorting/synthetic shares, cellar boxing, PnDing on vulnerable retail investors, stop-loss harvesting, etc.).
As Brave fans, we should all be aware that the pressure is only going to grow as Brave, Inc. gets bigger, to sell its soul, as countless companies have done before it. This is where faith and trust in the Brave, Inc. leadership comes in. We should be rooting for them to maintain their vision and integrity as the road gets tougher, because it will.

50th part in a series giving thoughts and theories by chapter in my read-through of The Wheel of Time. An index of previous posts in this series can be found here. I have never read this book, so no spoilers past this point!
Chapter 16: The Subject of Negotiations
- Egwene is turning into Siuan. I like Siuan, but of course her reign as Amyrlin was a disaster. At this point it helps me to imagine her as being somewhat older (late 20s) to make her interactions with other people more believable. The other Aes Sedai are pretty childish here.
- Had to make a spreadsheet to remember these Aes Sedai. Of the 50 characters mentioned or appearing in the first 2 chapters here, I only really remember Egwene, Gareth, Siuan, Elaida, Romanda/Lelaine, Halima, Nicola, and Sheriam. Doesn't help that Kate Reading's pronunciation isn't consistent. It was actually a fruitful exercise, though, because I'd totally forgotten that Delana was Black Ajah, and that seems important given her priorities. I'm being a little harsh, some of these characters have distinctive personalities, but it's been forever since they've done anything.
Chapter 17: Secrets
- So, the Rebel Aes Sedai are holding a fruitless siege of Tar Valon. The city doesn't seem like it's doing very well but apparently they can't prevent supplies from getting in by boat. Negotiations start and Egwene demands that Elaida step down, which I suppose makes sense. Based on the Prologue, things aren't exactly going well in the Tower, so I expect most Aes Sedai are eager for peace. I could actually see both 'sides' ousting both Amyrlins and finding a Third Way, since Elaida seems unpopular, and Egwene only got her job because they thought she'd be a puppet, and she isn't.
- Pretty clear the Black Ajah are trying to keep a reconciliation from happening. So the goal is reconciliation. Even more I think this'll require Egwene ceding power for the greater good.
Chapter 18: A Chat with Siuan
- It's been a while since I've read a lot of her POV, but I don't remember Egwene being such an "ugh, men" character.
- Weird that the biggest reminder that the Black Tower is based out of Caemlyn comes in Egwene's POV, not Elayne's.
- We're given another reminder about the Sitters being young. This has to mean Black Ajah infiltration. Maybe not necessarily that the Sitters are Black Ajah, but maybe they were put in those positi

Inspired by this thread I thought a very casual plan might be of some use. I'm socially awkward, lots of ppl in that thread are, and prob more of you reading this as well.
Alone for xmas? Bit of an outsider, awkward, isolated, etc?

Donโt get me wrong, heโs an extremely well-written character, but Iโm confused how heโs the favorite character for so many.
I understand the dynamic of the man of science verses the man of faith which was great. As the seasons progress however, Iโm just wondering how he can still be so likeable?
Iโd like to list why heโs not a favorite of mine and Iโd love a healthy debate in the comments as to why you like him. I donโt want any bad blood or problems like that. Simply put - sell me on his character. What am I missing?
Here are my thoughts: Season 1 Locke is fantastic. Walkabout is obviously a favorite episode. I do partially blame him for leaving out crucial information to Jack when Boone was in jeopardy, even if Boone was going to die anyway. Despite this, I believe his character was great in season 1.
In the flashbacks for season 2, I find it hard to feel sorry for him because he continually gets involved with his dad who he knows is evil. Even if Locke thinks his dad has had a change of heart, why would you ever trust him again - no matter how much money is in it for you? He grows more obsessed as well.
On island, he seems more interested in the mystery of the hatch instead of helping save the castaways who are under possible threat of the Others. He continually gets conned by โHenryโ over and over.
I think season 3 puts it perfectly with the โyou are amenable for coercionโ line. Locke continues to get used, but at what point do we blame him? He puts himself in this situations where heโs simply too trusting. He just never learns. His backstory is tragic, but on rewatches I canโt help but feel similar to how I feel about some of Kateโs flashbacks. Kate runs. Locke gets conned. Repeat.
Season 3 is when I completely lost love for his character. He blows up the Flame, he continues to lie to Sayid/Kate regarding the C4, he blows up the submarine. (In season 1 he knocks out Sayid when heโs trying to triangulate a signal). Yes, I understand the island is special. HOWEVER, I believe itโs NOT Lockeโs place to keep everyone trapped there. Thatโs not his decision to make and I think itโs selfish. He kills Naomi because of his vision of Walt and believes Ben about the freighter folk (despite Ben having SHOT him). Yes, the mercenaries were there for Ben. So what? Whatโs that to Locke?
