Before we begin, know that is not my usual anti-Amalas post. I was replaying TRH for a retrospective on the series and I noticed something about our spy master. She was not a nice person. I don't mean this in a bad way.
What I mean is that early on, it's clear that she's a spy. She gathers information on everyone to help her, or to use against them. Take us.
Now, for context, Amalas is competing to force her daughter to marry our unborn child. Yeah, remember when that was a thing? But she knows us well. More than Bradshaw or Isabella.
It looks like she is nicer, but you realize, it's because she's spied on you, collected information to appeal to you. To manipulate you. And she does this to everyone.
And there's nothing wrong with that. No really. She's a spy queen. I have NOTHING against her doing that.
But jump forward, and her method is suddenly different. She's an operative, a field agent and a hacker. She doesn't gather information and dossiers on others. She doesn't manipulate either and works openly with Interpol. And she is a whole lot nicer in general.
Like I said, different. My best guess is that their original plan for Amalas changed down the line. The differences are too big to justify by becoming our friend.
