A list of puns related to "Alex Moffat"
I've seen these two compared a fair bit. Both brought in during the same year, paired together quite often (most notably as Trump bros), even joked about as being the same person on the show (can't remember the exact instance but I remember Chris Redd making a 'same thing' joke at some point)
Which guy do the SNL fans prefer, if you had to choose? I'm not sure if it's controversial but I'm taking Alex by far, his range of characters just seems a lot more varied compared to Mikey (who gets used a ton, but in a lot of sketches, I think he plays the same kind of guy?)
I got back into SNL last season, and have loved the current cast, but I donβt hear enough people talking about Alex.
Heβs great in every scene, and what I love is he hardly ever needs to be in the spotlight. His straight man is fantastic, and heβs just all around a charming guy.
All Iβm saying is that if he got a main cast in a sitcom Iβd be happy for him.
Okay, so the last SNL (October 23rd, 2021) pretty much confirmed it in my mind. Has anyone else noticed this? His weekend update character βguy who just bought a boatβ is heavily inspired by Jake and Amir. Itβs all rhyming jokes. And he does the thing where he says something and randomly says something unrelated and unexpected like how Jake said I butt fucked my brother, on a booze cruise. Moffat says I have a small penis or something like that. Of course this one character didnβt confirm this but in the latest SNL along with his just bought a boat character he was part of the many intro takes for the show. And he made a joke about bread lassos. I mean come on! The episode with Jon gabrus and Geoffrey. Red vine lassos + bread mill jokes.
I feel like if I was a famous comedian where i canβt just copy or plagiarise his favorite web series. I would want to subtly send homages to Jake and Amir fans. Be like, yo Iβm one of you. I feel like streeter on SNL probably wouldnβt even notice. But Sarah might have, and they might have talked about it, or he brought it up because heβs a fan.
Anyway, am I being a real dildo baggins or yβall think he actually is taking inspiration from Jake and Amir?
We didn't hear too much of him, but he looked better imo
Consistently the funniest part of SNL for me.
I think they literally donβt use this guy in any of the sketches. He has mostly always been the handsome guy who smirks all the time and thats it! Itβs a disgrace that he is not being used more often!! He has such a great personality and also dedicates so much to his acts! I never understand why he isnβt used!
I just love his character Guy who just bought a boat along with all his impressions. He surely has the ability to make more awesome characters like these!!! Atleast give one of his impressions a chance in a skit!!!
What are your thoughts on this????
idk why i just think he's really cute
Dude killed it tonight. Except the second round.
Feel bad for the first dude because I think this was a pride episode and he seemed clearly gay but had a wife. He was in a flower jacket and was taking about Bette midler and Michael Kors.
Anyway, I now know what βread for filth meansβ
And thatβs my SNL post.

I just love his take on the character. I'm a big fan of the current cast, and I feel like Alex goes under the radar a lot, but he always steals the scene with this impression. Last night was great. I love this show.
My husband and I just re-watched the Bill Burr Pumpkin Ale sketch and the Casey Affleck Dunkinβ Donuts one was suggested afterwards. I always thought both sketches were so funny but never noticed that detail! Sam AdamsDunkinβ Donuts
They could still get away from all the Trump material by focusing on Tucker's crusade against Jill Biden, and have Heidi reprise the role of Jill.
I know it isn't likely, as that would mean someone like Kate or Cecily not having the main role, but this would be the perfect week.
(that is if we don't get another pointless Biden or Kamala cameo)
Not just the somewhat generic but still prominent news anchor parts, but the female lead in the pre-tape with Beck, which is the type of role that normally would have gone to someone like Cecily or even Heidi. Ego has steadily become one of the most consistent and grounded players in the cast, yet still adds something special to her work.
Meanwhile, I was happy to see Alex finally get a meaty role outside of Eric Trump in the news sketch - some genuinely good acting from him, and another example of his chemistry with Ego.
I hope the show sees the potential and the talent here and doesn't just go back to the same few cast members on display.
I'm super-excited that a current cast member is getting a chance to play this high-profile role, but it seemed like he didn't have much time to work on his impression. For the record, Alex is one of my favorite cast members, as he consistently makes me LOL. Plus, I'm looking forward to seeing how he develops this.
his performance last week was the best imo,he always delivers but i really enjoyed him on the last episode
hopefully cecily also gets her deserved nomination and not just kate
Iβm legitimately curious. I donβt think Iβve ever seen them even come close to breaking. It just doesnβt seem like an option with them.
Kind of a shower thought ...
Out of the recent cast members (past decade or so) that make it past bit-player status and get at least a few years on the show, it seems like sooner or later they'll start working in appearances as "themselves," kind of establishing a personality. With someone standup-oriented like Pete Davidson or Leslie Jones it might happen a lot. Or it'll be worked into a sketch (like Beck Bennett's Benedict Cumberbatch game show thing or Kyle & Leslie's fake romance) or the monologue (having them interact with the host) or something like that. But I can't think of a single time they've done this with either Day or Moffat. I don't know if it's just a coincidence, or if it's something the performers themselves aren't comfortable with, or if they're trying to preserve some kind of "chameleon" quality for them.
Anyway, they're both funny and good on the show, not really a critique. Just kind of a curiosity.
