I for some reason have decided I don’t want to simply sew my 4 yds of chenille to the bottom of my crop top. I don’t really want to see the seam.
So I have this idea. When I’m making the hem on my knitting machine, I’ll put some small holes all the way around the bottom of the sweater. But on the inside part of the hem so you can see them. Then I’ll take a ribbon and weave that through a hole, then through some fabric, then another hole, and repeat. So the fabric is attached to the ribbon which is woven through the hole.
…is this stupid? Is there an all around better way to accomplish this without a visible seam? Or am I being too picky and who cares if there’s a seam or not? Any advice would be great!!

“It’s so damned cold!” my girlfriend murmurs, shivering, and I unwrap my scarf from my neck and chuck it onto her shoulders. “Hey, no!” she replies, though she’s smiling. “Now you’ll just get cold!”
“I don’t get cold”, I lie, as we walk together towards the factory.
The factory is long abandoned. A massive, half-collapsed monolith out here in the scrublands. The area around us is covered with snow, and our shadows are long and dark beneath the orange-white glow of the lone, still-operational streetlight.
It isn’t night-time, not quite yet, but the day is dark and gloomy. There’s no-one else around, and the snow ahead is unbroken with any footprints.
“Do you think the rumours are true?” I ask her, grabbing her shoulders and making her jump.
She makes a noise at me and pushes me away. “Well, duh. Of course they’re true. They have to be. We wouldn’t be exploring a NON-haunted building now would we? That would be boring”.
The entrance to the factory approaches. The glass is smashed in one of its outer doors, and the other is covered with wooden-board, now well-graffitied. There’s a crude marionette spray-painted in white, and an ominous, cryptic ‘DON’T GET STRUNG’ warning scrawled beneath it in black.
“Don’t get strung…” I whisper creepily into Laura’s ear, and she laughs and pushes me away for a second time.
Her laughter fades as we step up to the factory’s door. The gates to the unknown.
“Well”, I say, “are you ready to go in?”
“Yeah”, she replies, glancing behind her. “Yeah, let’s do this”.
Let’s do this.
So in we go. I grab the handle and grunt with the strain, but am able to force it open about a foot, and we squeeze our way through the gap and into the shadows. The wintery breeze becomes a steady, ongoing backing rumble as we push steadily into the hallway and through further, broken doorways. There are portraits hung up here in the lobby, completely dusted over and faded, and only the faintest silhouettes are still visible.
We take some time to admire them. Or what’s left of them, to try and decipher what they might once have depicted.
One of these faded silhouettes looks kind of like a man- or a person, at least- with their arms outstretched.
Another looks like a spool of string. I try to rub away some of the layers of grime and dust, but not much else is revealed.
“This is so creepy”, Laura murmurs. “What do you think they used to make here?”

First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
The cracked screen fizzles in the darkness.
It’s the only thing still working in my immediate vicinity. It’s littered with dead pixels, and a faded magenta bar strikes down a segment of the screen’s left half, but the visuals and the sound are still quite clear.
“Welcome to Mr Sunny’s FUN-HOUSE RETREAT!” warbles a cartoonish voice, and a soundbite of cheering children rumbles out from the speakers along after it.
Sparks burst from a distended cable to my left. It hangs from the ceiling, with exposed and dangerous wires.
The screen shows me the POV of a camera, one held at the height of a child. The viewer is taken on a compressed, fade-cut tour of the Fun House Retreat.
It’s an amusement park. The sun is shining and all around are smiling children and happy families, eating ice-cream and running from ride to ride. Colorful arches stand tall overhead, and friendly faces sell popcorn and stuffed animals from path-side carts and stands. A rollercoaster whooshes by overhead to the sound of thrilled screams and cheers, and the camera pans across the food gallery: inviting-looking restaurants and milkshake bars.
Mr Sunny himself appears on-screen. It glitches for a moment as he does so.
Mr Sunny is a costumed character. He has an orange, humanoid body and a large, soft yellow head. It looks like a grinning sun.
The expression is fixed, of course. His mouth does not move as he speaks.
The grin is stretched just a little too wide.
The eyes are staring, and dead.
It is impossible to tell who is wearing the costume. There is no exposed skin.
The voice is masculine.
“Where the sun ALWAYS shines!” he boasts, putting one hand on his hip and throwing the other out in a comical wave, high-fiving a young boy who scampers past him.
“Collect an autograph from ME for a FREE Mr Sunny stuffed buddy! Have ya seen me yet today? Be sure to keep an eye out and come say HI if you do!”
He chuckles.
The camera spins round in a circle, showcasing the best that the park has to offer as another rollercoaster flies round in a spiral in the near-distance.
The camera completes its spin and Mr Sunny is closer.
“Unless of course I SEE YOU FIRST!”
He laughs.
The screen glitches again. It shows us more of the park. More well-tendered trees and clean pavements. Posters adorned with grinning characters and immersive, interactive games and stands.

The bridge stands exactly twenty-five minutes’ walk from the last house of town. You have to take the path that winds round the edges of the fields, then when the route splits you take the track less travelled. Head towards the mountains in the east until you reach the river, then follow it upstream for about ten or eleven more minutes.
That’s where it is. Beautiful and unassuming, a careful little stone structure built over the river.
I discovered it for the first time in the summer, and I only found it by chance. It isn’t immediately obvious, the bridge… My dog Bertie was the one who actually led me there. I let him off the lead and he made a bee-line right in that direction… I had to rush after him when I became concerned he might tumble into the river… It was stupid of me, really. I haven’t let him off-leash anywhere dangerous since then, don’t worry.
But yeah, so, that’s when we found the bridge. Bertie spent a happy half-hour sniffing all around it and wagging excitedly, though in the summer it isn’t particularly remarkable. It leads over the river to a small clearing. Pleasant enough, nice grass, a big tree… Uh, some tumbled rocks where it borders the base of the closest hills… I dunno what else to tell you, really. It just leads to nowhere in particular. Probably why it’s never used and no-one knows it exists.
…But in the winter…
In the winter, something changes.
Just under a week ago I was walking Bertie down that same route. I’d opted as I sometimes do for the track less travelled, marvelling quietly at the mountains in the snow… when I felt Bertie tug at the leash. I looked down at him, and he looked back up at me, and he whined a little.
I laughed. “Silly dog… What do you want, huh?”
But it was clear what he wanted to do. He wanted to head back to his favourite bridge.
“Alright Bert. Hell, let’s do it”, so I allow him to lead us back down along the river… being careful to keep him on leash this time.
Upon our arrival I could immediately tell that something was different. There was a certain sense in the air, an atmosphere that just felt… off… So despite Bertie’s pleas I decided to deny his pleas to go sniffing about.
I don’t recall what I thought exactly when I spotted the anomaly for the first time. The tracks, I mean. The footprints, in the snow.

... keep reading on reddit ➡Hello and welcome back, this is an update to my guide from 0.8.3 (https://forum.lastepoch.com/t/0-8-3d-gotta-freeze-em-all-250-corruption-cold-sorcerer/44256) which got buffed a lot by the introduction of the Snowdrift unique boots and legendaries.
THIS IS NOT RECOMMENDED AS A STARTER BUILD AS IT REQUIRES RARE UNIQUES TO WORK PROPERLY - I have not tested its viability for leveling or playing while obtaining all uniques. You probably should have at least Frostbite Shackles and Twisted Heart before starting this build.
I currently run this build at around 500 -- 550 corruption killing most stuff easily. T4 Julra can be done easily with decent timing and good positioning in below 60s (two aoe explosions). This is with decent but far from optimized gear and two legendaries where one has only movement speed and the other 30% cold resistance.
Due to its cold nature this build quite differs from other common sorcerer builds as they rarely focus on cold. We use some less common skills as well as unusual specs for some others like teleport and flame ward. Furthermore I refuse to use FOCUS and thus this builds needs a decent amount of mana regeneration to work properly!
Since freeze chance is independent of hit damage the most important thing in a freeze build obviously is a high hit/attack rate. A high hit rate in addition goes well with ailments and in combination with freeze and cold frostbite is obviously our first choice as it also reduces enemies freeze avoidance chance. With the focus on hit rate and ailments the build goes a non-crit route and focuses mainly on cold/elemental damage (over time) alongside frostbite duration/effect/application to boost its damage further.
We will use an orbiting Static Orb and Ice Barrage as our main damage spells. Both provide a high hit rate and built-in frostbite application. While Static Orb is essential for smooth echoes, Ice Barrage enables fast killing of rares and bosses and pushes the amount of applied frostbite stacks heavily to increase our freeze chance.

“Miss Eastman? Is there anyone else with you?” The Receptionist asks and Janet shakes her head.
“No. This is just a letter from my son to me.” She says and The Receptionist nods with a huge smile. ”You know something.”
“Part of my job is to vet these videos and draw up the important NDA’s in case something important is let out in these videos. And I don’t know if it’s deliberate or not, but Commander Daniel Eastman is either a very funny man or in about a mile over his head.”
“Excuse me?” That could be bad.
“Just get in there and try not to laugh too hard.”
“Oh dear.” She says as she rushes into the room. She was well put together for her age. A lifetime as a waitress certainly helped. But the last few months were really easy as she learned that her little boy had set up his payments to come to her automatically. Not all of it, but more than three times her regular paycheck. She was going to work just to hang out with her friends now; the money was just a perk.
She finds the seat that looks like it’s the least broken in and sinks into it with a sigh of contentment. Life had never been easy, and now her boy was so far away. She was worried. Very worried.
“Uh hey mom, things are going uh...” Her Daniel, resplendent in a loud Hawaiian shirt with flamingos all over it and a moustache that makes him look like he’s trying to replace the main character of Magnum PI. “Well they’re going...”
There’s a banging sound and he immediately looks to his right in shock before a blur of yellow and black swarms him and the video crashes. The video resumes and he’s once again in front of the camera, this time looking frazzled with numerous hickies and lipstick smears around his neck and face. He’s also inexplicably wearing a pair of welding goggles on his forehead.
“Right, anyways. There’s a lot to unpack, I’ve been stationed on a space station that’s signed up with the Earth Foreign Legion. It fell quickly, being only lightly defended by some of the Herd Lords. There was the wreckage of lemur creations scattered around, but the archeoreversion attack had done its job and done it well enough that even the bodies were buried.
They sunk the system down and adjusted the stellar mass until it was dim and red.
The last of the Herd Lords went down shooting under the red sun, trampling a Young One that had gotten to cocky and thought that it could not be defeated by a desperate Herd Lord. The psionic attacks had come heavy and hard, mind thrusts and ego whips striking his mental defenses hard enough that phasic sparks showered from the Herd Lord's hide. The homing crystals, fired from the Atrekna weapons, shattered on his Substance W armor, the psychic shielding of his helmet let him withstand even insinuations to his id that he was worthless and psychic blasts almost point blank.
Finally he fell beneath heavy psychic crushes, still wildly firing his weapons.
At the very end he reached up onto his combat harness with all four hands and pulled four rings away from canisters.
The explosion took out four more Young Ones and badly wounded an Ancient One who had come to observe the last desperate fight of the last remaining Herd Lord.
Once that was done, the Atrekna turned their attention to the populace and the planet itself.
First, they wiped away the cities, the roads, the industrial sites. The dim sun shown as they destroyed it all, driving the little furry peoples out into the wilderness that the Atrekna had brought up to replace the defeated civilization.
Then they examined the sentient species itself.
It was small, barely half the height of a Herd Lord. Covered in thick warming fuzz, the Atrekna knew that the sentient could survive the cool days and cold nights which were comfortable to the Atrekna. Their minds were fully capable of processing the emotions that the Atrekna fed on. Their slightly chubby bodies contained the caloric reserves to host Atrekna larvae and the horror of what was happening would ensure that the larvae would grow quickly into a

This Chapter comes much faster than the first one came after the Prologue because I sat down with my lack of internet and wrote quite a bit. I truly hope you enjoy this series as it progresses and know that I do intend to expand the entire universe as a whole with other stories.
As for the usual disclaimer(read "trigger warning"), this series will contain violence, slight subjective torture, intentional philosophical mistakes, poor thought processes, modern references, in-character opinions, satirical political comments, nods to the 4th wall, opinion pieces in the name of comedy, foul language, and viewpoints/input from characters that shouldn't be taken as my own, told from the view of one or more flawed narrators.
This chapter in particular will contain graphic violence, which could subjectively be called torture, in gruesome segments that, while distasteful, are written in for the sake of character development and not exclusively for shock value. At times this may feel less like a "fuck yeah" moment and more like a "the fuck?" moment, but it does pass after a brief pit stop, and does serve a purpose towards the overall story as it develops for our intrepid hominid hero. It could be viewed as a moment in any story where the hero finds themselves dealing with adversity that makes them rebound as a stronger, better, or changed individual. Know that it is not my intention to shock, disgust, detract from the intended meaning or value of the Subreddit, or push any personal sick fantasies onto the reader. Things are written with a value and meaning behind them.
Finally, there are points in time where racism and xenophobia are pondered and mocked. These should be taken as they are intended. Chapter Nineteen
“Oh, and just how many would a ‘small army’ be, then?” The Colonel asked, now intrigued. Adam decided he would do some posturing of his own, despite his better judgment screaming for himself to appear as wallpaper.
“That depends, ma’am. Are you asking about the first operation, second, or both combined?” He said before the Captain could answer.
“You’ve been on two then?” She waved a hand in a show of mock civility. “Do tell!”
Adam counted on his fingers humorously, taking way too long to answer; a brief flash of anger crossing the officer's face before he decided to tone down the bullshit.
“Well, if I’m being honest, I lost count after a dozen, but it’s not more than fifty. Drop in the bucket, really, once you add my pre and post occupation activities.”
“So you were a soldier before we arrived, then?” She said, clearly allowing a modicum of respect in her voice for the, as she now realized, experienced male soldier.
“Yeah. I left the service before you guys got there, but got involved with the resistance for a while before I saw the Empress's light. Can you blame a guy?”
“No, I suppose not,” she said with a smile. “It’s expected for a male to react emotionally and illogically at something like that.”
Thankfully, before the conversation could devolve any further Grim grabbed his arm and pulled him towards the door.
“I apologize, Colonel, but I have to get my pod to chow, and afternoon exercise after that. It was decidedly lovely running into you again!” Grim exclaimed, clearly trying to get the fuck out before the conversation went anywhere she didn’t like.
“You as well, Captain! Enjoy your… ahem… exercise!” The other team's officer said, her grin turning predatory, “I hope you pass selection, recruit!”
With that, the door closed behind them, leaving Grim and Adam a few meters behind the rest of the pod.
“That was dangerous, Adam.”
“I know, but I wasn’t going to just sit there and let her start shit without a response.” He replied.
“Listen… just, don’t talk to officers without being prompted from now on, okay? A lot of them are nobility, and will certainly not be as understanding as I try to be.”
“Yes ma’am.” Adam replied, abashed.
In short order they all filed into a nearby building and fell into the line leading to a small bar, where Shil’vati male and female workers were dutifully handing out food to the marines and special operators. As the group hurriedly ate, Adam did his best to ignore the stares from the patro

In my dealings with Optimus PC thus far, my experience has unfortunately been quite negative. I understand that COVID has impacted staffing, but when paying nearly $400 for a GPU waterblock, I would at least expect some sort of response from support when submitting a product issue.
I 1) wanted to see if anyone else has had a similar experience and 2) share my experience with the community.
I purchased an Absolute GPU block several weeks ago (about 2 months to be more exact). There was a 4-6 week lead team. In that time, we changed residences, so I emailed them over 2 weeks before the product was due to ship to request an address change. I was informed that this was taken care of. Come shipping time, the block was shipped to the incorrect address. I emailed them 3-4 times to see if there was anything they could do, such as contacting the shipping company before it was delivered, etc. To this day, I never heard back on this. No offer of a small refund, no apology, nothing. Since it was delivered to a condo, it was dropped in the lobby, and I eventually just made time to drive the 4-hour round-trip to pick it up.
Once I eventually made it home with my block, I was installing it on my 3080 Ti. I was just about done and was affixing the GPU backplate (which goes through the GPU and into the block itself). When installing the machine-head Torx screws to affix the backplate to the GPU and block, the shorter screws were too short and I was only able to force (literally, by pressing down as hard as I could on the backplate) 2 of the 6 screws that were supposed to be installed. I contacted support on Friday, 11/5, to bring this issue to their attention. They couldn't fathom the fact that it would be an issue with the actual block since they'd never seen this before, so I agreed to them sending me spare screws instead. I also requested on that same Friday that they ship out replacement thermal pads since, as part of the troubleshooting process, the original pads they shipped were destroyed. That person never replied regarding thermal pads, so I ultimately placed an order on Friday with 2-day shipping for these on their website since I was hoping to have them arrive on the same day as the screws. The screws arrived on Tuesday; however, for some reason, since the order hadn't been filled until Monday, the pads didn't arrive until Wednesday. Throughout this time, my PC was unusable since my 3080 Ti was simply sitting on the table (since the thermal pads for the stock

Chapter 15
The Tragedy
“Alright, here, we, go…” Seth said as he watched the count down reach zero. As soon as it hit zero he was hit with that all too familiar twisting lurch of a warp exit. Checking their location he turned to Neirdith and reported "Right on target, we are approximately five light seconds from the loading site."
He saw Neirdith give a nod and look over her own data, she was once again in her armour and had her weapon at her side just in case. If they were to be attacked they would likely have a few minutes of warning before they were boarded, but it was smart to be prepared regardless.
Casting his gaze farther he saw the overseer Hurk sitting in one of the seats on the side of the bridge, He was in a set of light Slaaveth combat armour that Neirdith had given him, it was apparently the very same set that she had pulled from the wreck they had found Skorr on and had been forwarded to them before Filch left New Dundas.
Seth smiled to himself at the thought of his old captain, sure he had always been a bit grumpy and bad tempered, but he was a good guy and had always looked out for his crew. Seth hoped he was enjoying his retirement, probably sipping hot drinks on the top of some god forsaken glacier somewhere just loving it.
Hearing a proximity alert in his headset he snapped his attention back to his sensor suite but saw that it was just an asteroid drifting through the space lane, they were technically already in the belt after all. They continued on their approach without incident until another sensor return had Seth state "We are in range of the loading site captain. Should we hail 'em?" He asked Neirdith.
Without an answer Neirdith raised the site on comms and said "IS Trombuly to loading dock three, we are in route to pick up a load of ore."
The loading dock heard them and responded "Copy that, we have you on scope IS Trombuly, hilarious name by the way, I love it. Anyways

Chapter Twenty-one
Once the remaining recruits were geared for their training, the instructors collected them and led the unit to shuttles parked on the front lawn. The short flight ended with them landing in front of a command tent, with a video screen propped up under the awning.
The lead instructor stood before them, indicating to the map shown onscreen as she delivered their mission goals.
“This is the town of Mor’ai, and for this exercise we’ve pulled an active duty militia company to defend it. Each of you will be given an objective, paired off, and sent into the town to infiltrate it. Your objectives will range from target assassination, to area reconnaissance, and even sabotage of enemy assets.” The instructor paused and gestured to the recruits, “you’re all adults, and either experienced soldiers or individuals with useful skillsets, so pair off at your leisure. You’ll receive your mission packet from an instructor shortly, fall out!”
Adam felt, more than heard, the speed at which a body appeared next to him. Why Sel - which he’d learned she liked to be called - had practically attached herself to him, he didn’t understand. He figured it had something to do with her race, though, as she clearly got mean-mugged by many of the other recruits. If nothing else, the oddities of the company would be stuck together as long as she remained in the course.
“Hey, Sel.” He said without having to turn his head. Her practical teleportation into his side had given away just who it was. He noted the sole werewolf-looking member of the company's dejected face, as she had been padding intently towards him, but was too late.
“Team?” Sel asked, a smile evident in her voice even as her mask covered her face. Adam sighed, and used his Omni-pad, now affixed to his belt, to send her the unit request. The Shil’vati creating a system for altering fireteams in the field and communicating friendly locations through their pads seemed like a dangerous amount of data to be flowing around, but he reasoned it was probably encrypted enough.
In his visor, a small green icon labeled ‘Sel’ hovered above her head now.
Sel practically vibrated with excitement when they received their mission packet. As it turned out, they were given the kind of mission Adam had desperately hoped for: to assassinate a high ranking ‘rebel’ officer inside the town. Chapter 9
Roused from his memories by the audible crunching of the shuttle's landing gear hitting the hangar deck of the frigate, Adam took a moment to shake off the thoughts. The mood of the team was still somber after the botched operation, everyone’s mind still clearly set on the soon-to-be exclusion zone miles below.
His eyes flicked to the red light just above the shuttle door, indicating, as he had been told before, that the hangar was still pressurizing from their arrival. As it changed to green, the members of pod 7 stood up and faced the sliding door in unison. It was a familiar motion to Adam, obviously reminiscent of the way he had departed helicopters and C-130s before. Slip slid open the door in front of them, and they all began to disembark.
As they walked through the hangar after disembarking the ship, Popper's brown and red tattooed suit slid beside Adam. She pulled off her helmet, holding it in the crook of her elbow against her left side, her laser rifle clutched at a point near the middle by her large hands. She leaned down, and said in a slightly hushed tone, at least for her;
“What you did back there, with the rifle, reminded me a lot of Needle.” Her tone was surprisingly mature and somber for her normally jovial personality as she continued, “Grim might not say it, so I’m just gonna. I had my own reservations about allowing a hot piece of ass local joining the team before, but as far as I’m concerned, now I wouldn’t want to be on this team without you.”
Somewhat shocked by her blanket statement of approval, Adam fumbled with what to say. He’d never been a people person at large, and positive affirmation had never really been a part of his life, even growing up.
“I… uhh… thanks, Popper, that means a lot. I noticed Grim accidentally called me Needle before too, do you mind telling me more about her? I’m assuming she’s a her given, well..” he said, gesturing to his all female companions.
“It’s not really a subject I’m comfortable going into depth with right now,” she said, looking around the hallway the team shuffled down, “but I’ll tell you this, she was the teams sniper, she was damn good at what she did, and her and Slip were, uh, close…” she said, turning her gaze to the small woman in question, now walking about five meters in front of them, as they had slowed to the back of the group during the conversation.
