A list of puns related to "Accept discography"
Only recently got back into DGD around Artificial Selection and am curious what the concert setlists are like? Thanks y'all!
This might be a bit weird of a CMV post because it's a bit difficult to rationalize. That is, I recognize that the Beatles were a very influential band, and on a purely objective level, I do think their music is very good. But personally, their music just isn't very special to me. There is no Beatles song that I get super pumped about listening to. To be clear, I've listened to much of their discography, but not in order (like listening to an album start to finish).
Common wisdom might be to just move on with my life and accept that the Beatles just aren't for me. But I do really want to like their music as I do personally enjoy a lot of 20th century music, of which the Beatles is a pretty defining sound.
Edit: okay so I'm realizing that this is a pretty dumb post, and that this is pretty much a 100% subjective view. And I don't really see myself changing my view of this on the spot since that's not really possible. That said, I would still like to understand why other people may find the Beatles special; given how highly regarded they are amongst music enthusiasts, there has to be more that can be said other than, "they're special because that's someone's opinion," right?
Please refer to my flair, I am a dedicated cult member for Yestoday and I worship it on the Regularβ’. I kind of already made a post about Yestoday before but I wrote that one while I was sleep deprived so I kinda want to yell about why I unironically think Yestoday is the best song in NCT's entire discography in a more thorough concise manner, going through the song itself, the lyrics, the MV, the whole shebang (mostly cause I want a post to revisit whenever I feel like appreciating Yestoday again but my previous was too messy imo lmao).
Disclaimer : There will be tons of probably wrong music terms being thrown around cause I know nothing about music lmao
I was curious about the song the moment I saw the title. Yestoday as a word on its own is so intriguing to me personally. I was wondering whether it meant Yesterday-Today or Yes, Today, both interpretations which I love. It could either mean Yesterday transitioning on to Today hence Yestoday. Or it could be Yes, Today which I interpret as Yes, Today is more important and focusing on Today in general ( Yes to Today/No to Tomorrow. Does that make sense or do I sound crazy?). Either way, I was hella intrigued from the moment I saw the title for the first time.
I am generally not a fan of more minimalistic kind of production, but I love the production on Yestoday. I could listen to the instrumental on its own tbh. When I first heard it, I immediately thought about the work of Nujabes (it reminds me of Blessing It) which is an artist I adore who is considered a pioneer of lo-fi hip hop. I think Yestoday is in the alt hip hop genre? And the instrumental really reflects that with its mix of slightly jazzy sounds and hip hop which creates a kind of intimate and slightly melancholy soundscape that suits the song perfectly. No idea if the following artists are considered a similar genre, but when I first listened to it, it reminded me of other artists I enjoy like Epik High, Offnoff, Nafla, Rad Museum and a few others. There are only a few elements to the instrumental like the snare beat, the horn (?) instrument in the beginning making appearances throughout the song, the little synths and keyboard noises that all combine together to make a perfect accompaniment that is both interesting but simple enough for the artist to fully shine.
You can't appreciate Yestoday without talking about its lyrics. I'm s

Iβm looking to get a tattoo in the near future with a Death Grips quote, but I donβt really know where to start when pretty much all of their discography is infinitely quotable. βTo pray is to accept defeatβ and βI am the beast I worshipβ are at the top of my list so far.
As is yearly tradition, over the month of December I posted two songs per day in the Daily Discussion threads (one single and one album track (mostly)) that I felt went unnoticed by most people but would potentially be enjoyed, and this is a compilation of those write-ups.
Thereβs a definite pop focus but I picked these tracks with an ear for diversity of sound/artistry so thereβs quite a few different things going on here and some picks that might make you roll your eyes, but I think thereβs something for everyone! FFO means βFor Fans Of,β itβs a reference point for who I think would like each song.
Here is a link to a playlist I made of (most) of the songs.
#Singles:
> Joyce Wrice (ft. Freddie Gibbs) - On One (from Overgrown)
> FFO: Tinashe
It seems like everyone is nostalgic for the β00s these days but if you were specifically missing those block party busting r&b jams, Joyce Wrice has you covered. She oozes the essence of this era of r&b starlets thanks to her flirty-yet-fiery delivery and the Aaliyah sample (βRock The Boatβ) takes this connection even further, but the charismatic rap verse from Freddie Gibbs has a distinctly more modern feeling that still flows well. One of many stellar tracks on her debut album but it stands out thanks to the pop friendly hooks and crazy replay value.
> FFO: Red Velvet
In tarot the βWheel Of Fortuneβ card is supposed to invoke good luck and prosperity and the song really captures that vibe with the bright melody and hopeful lyrics, both of which Riri carries perfectly. The quirky production makes everything even more exciting, itβs got a new jack swing beat but then thereβs all sorts of horns and synths and samples layered on top so itβs just brimming with energy while still being perfectly in control.
> LΓLΓ - Hurt Less (from overkill)
> FFO: Avril Lavigne
Emo pop-rock meets self-deprecating Tik Tok music, and thatβs a compliment! Canadian singer LΓLΓ started with this sound last year (so she was actually a bit ahead of the curve on this trend) but she took until this year with the overkill EP to really nail it. This song is indulgently relatable and the chorus just creeps up on you, itβs so catchy and

Imma be honest I didnβt start listening to rap music like that until late 2015, Pablo was my first Kanye experience as it happened. I still remember the hype of the album and the peak of the Yeezys coming out in my freshman year of high school, but I wasnt a huge fan yet.
These past few years Iβve obviously become an enormous fan but I could never shake this feeling that I missed him in his prime and that it was gonna be all downhill after his breakdown in 2016. Ye was decent, KSG was really good, Yandhi was disappointing, JiK was the definition of mediocre, 2020 all we ended up getting was Nah Nah Nah. I still remember only a year ago watching the Joe Rogan podcast and thinking βwow, its so clear to me right now that music is the absolute last thing on his mind right now.β It was just a massive feeling of disappointment. I was ready to accept that we would get JiK/NNN type kanye for the foreseeable future until he eventually just stopped dropping music.
But this entire second half of 2021 has been insane. This is the biggest and most appreciated kanye has been in five years, arguably more so than the Pablo era. Never in my life did I expect him to make music like Off the Grid, Hurricane, Jesus Lord, or Come to Life again. Never in my life did I think he would ever fix his relationship with Drake and that theyβd do something like this and he would perform his whole discography and absolutely kill it like that. This performance is gonna be some shit i find on YouTube 15 years from now and watch 50 times. Imma reminisce on these couple months and the memories I had this entire semester associated with this Donda era. Greatest artist of our generation no question
Artist: Remi Wolf
Album: Juno
Label: EMI Records
Release Date: October 15th, 2021
Genre: Alt-Pop, Funk, Quirky Girl π€ͺ
Listen: Spotify | Apple Music | YouTube Music | Soundcloud
Truly no one is making music like Remi is today, the disorderly blend of pop, funk, rock and r&b; her off the wall lyricism reminiscent of singer songwriters of generations past; the intricate details of every single track, with sound effects and instrumentation you might not pick up on until your 20th listen. This chaotic combination is in large part due to her wide array of influences, including classic soul/funk like Earth, Wind and Fire, expertly crafted r&b/pop like Solange and even up to the recent revelation of bedroom pop like Still Woozy whom she actually opened for in 2018. Remiβs music is almost impossible to limit to one genre, even her earlier songs like Doctor show how much she can do in just a three minute track, she lyrically achieves what Katy Perry tastelessly failed at ten years earlier with Circle The Drain, in what is musically a combination of electro rock and jazz, that only she could put together.
Having been interested in music her whole life, it wasnβt until 2014 when she moved to LA where she attended school for it. Fun fact, she also appeared in the audition round for the 13th Season of American Idol where she performed Letβs Get It On by Marvin Gaye, and itβs wild to think how different her career and her music would be had that blossomed into something bigger there and then. After graduating from Thornton School of Music in 2017, it wasnβt until 2019 when she would release her first EP [Youβre A Dog!](https://ope

Itβs been five years since The Weeknd released Starboy! This was the first album of The Weekndβs where he embraced the genre of Pop to another level. Merging genres and blending into various sounds, Starboy was a well executed exploration of music that helped The Weeknd enhance his image and alter any sort of stereotypes that surrounded him. The album helped Abel garner a new fanbase, one that was here for the pop sound he had to offer; all while he stayed true to his well-known image.
In this post Iβll be focusing on the era, and a little bit on the album. I believe Starboy was the one era that perfectly encapsulated who The Weeknd is, simply because of the contrast between the themes of the songs, the videos, and delivery of it all. All things considered, the era shows off different aspects of The Weeknd. And for clarity, when I say era, I mean songs, videos, and of course, the album. Of course performances, interviews, magazines shoots, etc. come into the category of an era, but with this post I hope to highlight the singles/videos for this era. Mainly because they displayed a strong contrast between each other, ultimately conveying The Weekndβs versatility as an artist.
Various dates will be emphasized to focus on highlights from the era, again, mainly the releases of singles/videos. I will discuss the album at the end though, specifically attempting to pinpoint why such a successful eraβs album is seen as a weak point in The Weekndβs discography. I donβt want to come off as if Iβm too critical of the album. Itβs no secret that the album isnβt Abelβs strongest piece of work, but that doesnβt mean that it wasnβt massively successful or enjoyable. And I want to assure that Iβm not against the album. It was the first album Abel released after I joined the XO fandom and back then I was like βthis is the best album ever!! Why are the other fans wildin??β Overtime, I understood the criticism, but as time has past many fans of The Weeknd have came around on Starboy and now appreciate the album. But again, I will discuss why it doesnβt stand out. And if this is your favourite album of his, I sincerely hope that I donβt come off as if Iβm trying to put you in the worst mood, ah.
The era went from September 2016 to June 2017. I wonβt highlight performances, but I do have a small section for them. And I wonβt mention Marvelβs Starboy comic book, even th

This is part 3 of my series of chronicling rap music of 1981, 1991, 2001 and 2011. Part 1, about 1981 and 1991, can be found here. Part 2, about 2001, here. Iβve noticed some confusion about why Iβm doing this, so hereβs a short breakdown about me:
2011 Songs of the year
The list of great rap songs is very long. Probably longer than any of the previous decades. There simple were more good rappers from very diverse backgrounds making great music at the same time: both mainstream and underground, from all regions. Iβll provide breakdown by aesthetics, because otherwise the list will become very unwieldy.
Brick Squad
Following Waka Flocka Flameβs classic 2010 Flockaveli, Brick Squad kept shitting out 20+ song mixtape after mixtape in 2011. Save for Waka Flocka & Slim Dunkinβs βTwin Towers 2β, most of those tapes were at best just pretty decent. Itβs notable that practically every artist on Brick Squad was able to release a great song as a solo artist in this blessed year:

I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
Hi everybody, as a veteran foot soldier and swiftie sergeant general i wanted to come on here and clear up some things about miss taylor:
taylor is re recording her masters because her former managers/team, scooter braun and scott borchetta, sold her discography for $300 million in 2019.. They will not let her perform her own songs or use them in her own documentary. These men had no part in writing the songs and have banked BIG on taylorβs career. Re recording her masters takes away their power.
the 10 minute song about jake gyllenhaal was recorded when she was 20, while she was on tour for her album Speak Now. Taylor released this 10 minute version of the song because itβs a fan favorite. It may seem like sheβs dredging up old drama but these lyrics are old too. I actually think itβs really cool how sheβs been able to rework her old art and do something exclusive for the fans. Not to mention this 10 minute version is killing it on the charts currently which is really unheard of! With that being said, swifties harassing and wishing death to all of taylors exes is uncool and way over the line.
kim and kanye doctored that phone call and framed her. Taylor was humilated and shamed by kanye twice and they tried to end her career. The call was illegally recorded and cropped to make it sound like taylor agreed to the aggressively sexist lyric in Kanyeβs βfamousβ.
I could go on about how hating taylor is rooted in deep misogyny but iβll spare you all from that rant. In conclusion, taylor is an incredible record breaking artist and inspiration to millions of women. Sheβs openly struggled with an eating disorder , handled A list bullies like a pro, and is unafraid to be loudly feminine. With peace and love STREAM RED!! β€οΈπ

(Tagged this with SPOILER for anyone who has not yet watched HIT THE ROAD.)
First of all, props to the people who created this series, all the shots are incredible, and all the shots of the cities were beautiful, and just honestly all the footage was impeccable.
Tbh I've been a casual listener of Seventeen's music and a casual watcher of GoSe but recently during this recent Rock with You era, i am on my way to becoming a carat.
Someone on the sub recommended Hit the Road in order to get to know the members a bit more and naturally i decided to watch (they did say it was hard to watch but i underestimated their words)
Admittedly, Hit the road would be hard for anyone to watch.
To see anyone, much less your Favs go through hardship is difficult to watch, i am not kidding when i say i was bawling when we got to S.coups' Episode.
Having said that though, the reason why I'm making this post is to say that i have learned SO MUCH from the members while watching this. I have been going through a bit of a life slump and i've been having a terrible mindset towards basically everything, struggling with that feeling of meaninglessness that creeps up on us unawares (also being in your 20s is just hard sometimes). It seems ridiculous when i try to articulate it, but i felt like going through any kind of struggles/hardship in life is embarrassing and not worth putting any effort to overcome.
But watching Hit The Road has made me aware of this and now i realise how untrue that is because there is something so validating in watching someone else go through something that is taxing physically, emotionally and psychologically and do their best to overcome that, and still make the absolute best of the situation.
The thing i learned most from Hit the road was this: Being an adult, most of the time, is waking up to your own portion of hardships, living through them, finding the joys in all of it, loving your loved ones and never ever pretending that one can live a life with no difficulties.
From the members, i learned this:
Vernon - "So i don't just work to finish a song. It's that i don't ever want to stop working. I feel it's important to not lose consistency in life." Even when i'm doing the thing i love most, i tend to rush to finish it and this is a good reminder to, just not.
Hoshi - His unhindered confidence is insanely inspiring as someone who struggles to be a more confident version of myself. His unbridled and fierce presence on stage is just. wow. So much

>By the time America paid attention to the disease, it was too late to do anything about it
- Randy Shilts, And the Band Played On: People, Politics, and the AIDS Epidemic
It's very hard for me to write about the AIDS epidemic of the early 80s. There is a lot of injustice, sadness and blatant homophobia involved in it, which makes it all in all pretty hard to write about. However, despite all that, I think it's important. Today, in honour of world AIDS day, I would like to talk about 6 artists who passed away suffering from AIDS. Most of them were gay or bi, others weren't. Common between all of them is that they suffered from a lack of information and policy, causing an increase in infection rate and delaying production of a medicine. A disgusting example of this: in 1982 when over 800 people died from AIDS in the US alone, the press secretary to Ronald Reagan laughed at a question about AIDS.
It makes me mad to think about what each of these artists could've accomplished had they been alive. It makes me mad to think about how many deaths of both celebrities and non-celebrities could have been prevented. It makes me mad to see too many of these artists barely discussed. So that's why I wanted to write this, so there will hopefully be more discussion surrounding these artists and their music. I want to write mostly about each artist's music, because there's much more to them than just somebody who passed from AIDS, but for each of them I've included how they responded to the disease, how and when they died, because as sad as it is, that's also a part of their story. I realize that this is heavier than most of the stuff posted or commented on the sub, but I think it's important to discuss this type of stuff too, especially considering the large number of lgbt+ people on this sub. With all that out of the way, let's take a closer look at these ten artists, shall we?
While in the early 80s the disco scene might've lost its mainstream popularity, for gay men the scene was as alive as ever. One of the artists who made extremely high-quality disco, was Patrick Cowley. While an important songwriter and producer (including a 15'45" remix of Donna Summer's I Feel Love) in his own right, Cowley also made some great tracks himself. Menergy*,

There has been a lot of talk since these three songs have come out about what they mean for BTS' discography and what it means for their future releases. I wanted to be able to have a decent discussion about these three songs and looking into how they fit perfectly in BTS' discography.
BTS released their album MOTS:7 in February of 2020. They were in the United States for promotions at the time, but once they headed back home to Korea, they were instantly thrust into the reality of the beginning of the COVID Pandemic. All of their Korean promotions had zero fans as according to guidelines. No fans were there to see "ON" or "Black Swan" live. This was a really hard time for BTS, and they coped with it with one of the only ways they knew how, to make music.
BTS discography has always been a reflection for where they currently were in life. The Skool triology, which reflected the life of students; Dark & Wild, which was the culmination of the hip-hop sound that they perfected as well as talking about their lives as adolescents; the HYYH series which talked about the transition from boyhood to adulthood (along with Wings/YNWA); the Love Yourself series which talked about how to love yourself; and the Map of the Soul Series, which talked about how to know yourself once you have accepted and loved yourself. All of their albums truly showed their own journey of where they were in life.
During the pandemic, they were working on the BE album, and while they were working on it "Dynamite" was found and born. Based on various interviews that BTS did around the time (August 2020), "Dynamite" was meant to give people energy during this hard time. "Dynamite" was suppose to be a light in a dark tunnel. The song was created to give people joy and happiness during this trying time. A lot of people were struggling during the pandemic, financially, mentally, emotionally, academically, etc. The song not only gave energy to its audience, but it also gave energy to BTS as well. They talked about gaining energy while working on this song too.
"Dynamite" was written in response to the first wave of the pandemic to give joy and happiness. BE was put out to tell BTS' story of living through the pandemic and how they were dealing with it."Butter" (May 2021) and "Permission to Dance" (July 2021) came with the second wave. As we were entering into the second year of the pandemic with things still not looking up, BTS looked to put out another fun song to give people joy and ene
