A list of puns related to "A Teacher (miniseries)"
As part of my ongoing DCEU rewrite, I initially wrote a Green Arrow movie based on the CW's Arrow TV show (2012-2020), but after I posted a draft, u/Iamthekween69 suggested the miniseries format since there was a lot going on that needed room to breathe. Taking their advice, I decided to flesh out some storylines, cut off the fat from the original Arrow TV show, lay groundwork for the larger universe and make Ollie's characterization more comicbook accurate. After all that was said and done, this is what I was left with, my rewrite of the Arrow TV show as a miniseries set in my DCEU, and based in part on Green Arrow: Year One and Green Arrow: Rebirth comics. Without further ado,
EPISODE 1: De Monarchia
We open on a bearded man, marooned on a deserted island noticing a fishing boat in the area. He runs to the camp, picks up the bow and shoots a flaming arrow at a previously prepared pile on the coast, which ignites. Fishermen see a fire and guess that someone is on the island. On the beach, they see an overgrown man in green clothes kneeling in front of them. The men take the stranger to the ship and leave the island. Oliver Queen looks at the island one last time before turning his head to face the horizon, in his hand his only possession, a small wooden crate.
5 years ago, in Star City, Oliver Queen, the heir to the multi-million-dollar Queen Consolidated, and an entitled, arrogant, and wild socialite is celebrating on an old, abandoned oil rig owned by his family. He hosts a gigantic rave and attempts to out-drink his numerous guests. During the decadent festivities, he runs into Sandra-Wu-San Lance, the adopted younger sister of his ex-girlfriend Dinah Laurel Lance. He talks her up and flirts with her intending to get back at her sister for breaking up with him, by sleeping with her. Slowly, Sandra (who is upset at her βsanctimoniousβ sister) begins to give in. Oliver and Sandra sneak off in a speed boat out to the Queenβs Gambit, his fatherβs ship that is anchored in the middle of the sea. The two of them walk into the seemingly empty ship and have drunken sex in the cellars. The next morning, they are woken up by the sound of the ship moving. Oliver and Sandra find their way to the upper levels where Ollie hears his father, Robert Queen frantically talking to someone about destroying βthe deviceβ. As he sees Oliver, he suddenly cuts the call and asks Oliver what he is doing on the ship. Before Oliver can respond, Robert sees Sandra a

So many interesting films in there even beyond the obvious masterpieces.
Does anyone else have a series they wish was in the cards but isnβt due to the filmmakerβs horrible actions or personal controversies?
My personal preference would be the Horus Heresy series, I'm currently on the flight of the Eisenstein and so far I see really good potential to draw people in who haven't heard of 40k before. A guy you look up to in the first and second season (Horus was really forward thinking before he was corrupted) you get to see his rise and fall from different characters viewpoints. The feelings of shock and betrayal from the astartes characters. Just a lot of makings for a badass sci-fi action drama right here.
This has bugged me for a long time. I saw this show when I lived in England 1997-1999. It was a two or three part crime drama mini-series. I really thought the name was something like 'Green Eyes' but I haven't yielded anything similar to what I remember from google or IMDB.
The plot of the series was essentially that a murder had been committed and police were investigating this high-school aged girl and her family. The girl is a redhead. It is revealed throughout the show that the girl's parents have a very unstable relationship (can't remember details). The police investigate and basically by the end of the show it is revealed that the girl and one of her teachers have been having an affair and that she (or maybe both of them) committed the murder or murders.
I know that's not a ton to go on.
I think it was likely a BBC or BBC2 production but can't be certain. As I recall it was quite good but I was pretty young at the time (hence poor memory of details).
Thanks!
I just finished watching Steve Jobs (2015) for the first time after all the Walk Talk about it and...oh my god. Perhaps Fassbenderβs best performance ever? I didnβt expect Boyleβs style to work so unbelievably well with Sorkinβs dialogue. (Which was how I felt about Miller & Moneyball...another masterpiece).
All that said, this just cemented my desire for a Boyle mini so much more. He feels like a perfect director for the pod. Working in a myriad of genres. Plenty of clears. A few big bounces. An incredibly bizarre sequel to an indie film made 20 years prior about drug addicts. Nevermind the fact weβd probably get a b-b-b-bonus ep for the London Olympics opening ceremony (ding dong). Perhaps his time will come in March Madness...????
Long story short: Steve Jobs? Great! Danny Boyle? Interesting career!
Has anyone else watched this show? What did you think of it?
I enjoyed it, but found it a bit strange. Definitely different from most other shows. The acting was good. It's worth a binge.
As a director Kenneth Branagh has made everything with almost every film being a look into his ego, personal life, obsessions and as a representation of remaining relevant as cinema and marketability changes over the last 4 decades.
Even his non Shakespeare films are theatrical and often insane due to his hammy nature. Also so many British character actors
If they still insist on leaving Rick and the CRM plot out of 11B/11C I think the next best move would be to make a miniseries. Even putting aside the futility of the movie idea at this point in the franchiseβs run Iβve always thought a miniseries would be much better anyway for a variety of reasons. Not only does it allow for a lot more plot and world development (we can build upon the CRM a lot more) but it allows for all of our cast from all of the shows to come together and each have their own little subplots going on while the war against the CRM slowly builds up.

Orson Welles is the original blank check director. He got a blank check without having even directed a film and in his debut he made the Canonical Greatest Film of All Time.
After that, he never got a chance to direct a movie on his own terms again, at least not on that scope. And I know this might sound like a sad arc, but what fascinates me about Welles' films post-Kane is how much his genius shines despite all the adversity.
Another point in favor of the series is that all his movies are LOADED with context and backstage stories. Welles himself was a fascinating character and they wouldn't lack stories about him.
Another point is that Welles is one of the few (if not the only) of the great golden age directors that has a small filmography. It might be the only chance the podcast would have to cover that period.
Just to clarify - the original "Inglourious Basterds" was so long, with several storylines, a huge number of characters that Tarantino thought that this could only work as a 10 or 12 or 16 hour miniseries and he was going to do that - BUT it was when he met Luc Besson for lunch or dinner in which QT told about his "Basterds" miniseries and Besson dismissed the miniseries idea and said that he would rather see a movie version of it instead - and QT (who always wanted to make a movie version of "Basterds") was so haunted by Besson's criticism that did another rewrite of his script and out several subplots and characters out and the angle, the nut he cracked that turned "Basterds" from a long miniseries to the regular 2 hour-plus feature-length film was coming up with a new character; Frederick Zoller, the Nazi war hero who is the subject of the new Nazi propaganda movie which would pave the story's way to it's fiery climax.
As much as we love "Inglourious Basterds" from 2009, I am still so interested in see the original, long version (director's cut - if you will) of "Inglourious Basterds" that QT started to write back in 1998. Just like Kubrick's Napoleon or David Lynch's Ronnie Rocket or Christopher Nolan's Howard Hughes film or Sergio Leone's WWII film - I think Tarantino's original miniseries version of Inglourious Basterds belongs in that cannon of unrealized/unmade films we all wish would have been made.
BUT with the success of his novelization of "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood", I really hope he'll do the novelization of his original story of "Inglourious Basterds"

As of late, a lot of studio are making movie quality miniseries. While I do love them, some of which I would have preferred they made them into regular series with a few seasons. But which one you think should have gotta 2-5 seasons at least. I know Peacemaker isnβt a miniseries as it could get a second season, but would you love to see more of it rather than the rest

EPISODE 4: Le Rime
Oliver takes Roy to his new secret base in the old Queens Consolidated foundry in the Glades. Oliver is at the computer when Roy finally wakes up. Ollie says that he thought Roy was in serious danger since they had poisoned him, as well as electrocuted him. Ollie starts to introduce himself, but Roy tells him that he knows who he is. Roy is surprised that Oliver is the vigilante having not had much respect for the man Oliver was before he went missing at sea. Ollie says that his five years on the island changed, him. Roy, intrigued asks Oliver what happened over there. Oliver says that he learned to survive.
In a flashback, Xu Tao trains Oliver to use his bow by making him hit the water inside the bowl with his palms repeatedly which frustrates Oliver who tells him that he has been doing this for months and when he is going to be able to so some actual archery. He says that he has been doing actual archery and hands him the bow. Oliverβs reflexes and tensile strength has improved dramatically, and he sees what Xu Tao was talking about.
In the present, Fyf arrives at the foundry base and is introduced to Roy. Roy sees Ollie and Fyfβs research and immediately recognizes the Carina symbol. He says that Werner had a tattoo just like it. He says that that is also the symbol printed on every Vertigo sugar packet, and all the weapons being run on the streets. Fyf deduces that all these seemingly disparate criminal activities in Star City are all organized under this βNinth Circleβ banner and that somehow Oliverβs family is a connected to it. Roy tells Oliver that he wants to join Oliver in his crusade to help the city. He asks Oliver what the plan is. Oliver says that he needs to find out more gesturing to Drakonβs bullet-ridden laptop that Ollie recovered. Fyf says that Ollie might need a tech expert to help him with the device. Oliver smiles.
At the subway, the police led by Quentin Lance investigate and find Oliverβs arrowheads which matches with the ones they found at Drakonβs docks. They also see blurry images of a hooded man terrorizing Drakon from the CCTV camera. As the media swarms him, Detective Lance declares that SCPD will find and hunt down the vigilante that the media has dubbed βThe Hoodβ. Quentin declares a citywide manhunt for thi
