A list of puns related to "2012 NBA draft"
Bradley Beal (Washington)
Damian Lillard (Portland)
Draymond Green (Golden State)
After ten years in the modern NBA, it seems almost like an anomaly that three top talents in a draft class have remained with the same team that drafted them (albeit two are surrounded by constant trade rumors at this time).
I would personally take Dame, but Iβm bias so who would you choose? Also Both players would have the same career except on your team, so they would both be as good as they are now.
Taking out the obvious outcome in the draft,
Looking back on 2012 NBA draft, would anybody else also take MKG over Bradley Beal other than Jordan? Was that move justified back then?
Here is Michael Kidd-Gilchrist's College stats
Here is Bradley Beal's College stats
I am curious, with those stats, where would they have landed in this 2020 NBA draft class?
I'm doing a rebuild of the Nets and in the 2012 draft right now I have the second pick Anthony Davis was taken first overall so who is the best available option now?
On February 23, 2011, the Golden State Warriors acquired Troy Murphy and a 2012 second-round draft pick (the 35th pick aka Draymond Green) from the New Jersey Nets (Brooklyn Nets) in exchange for Brandan Wright and Dan Gadzuric

First Round Draft Order:
edit: Can the mods please change the sidebar to the draft order with updates?
A lot of people say the NBA is getting better every year, and they're right, but 2008-2012 was undeniably above average in comparison to the other years we've had in recent NBA history. Here's an explanation of why:
#2008
With the 1st pick in the 2008 NBA draft, the Chicago Bulls select Derrick Rose, future MVP. Unfortunately, Rose's injury problems have caused him to not contribute a ton to this argument, but think about that: a former MVP is actually detracting from my statement.
Without Rose, the 08 class is either the weakest or second weakest class of the stretch, but it's still worth talking about. With the 4th pick, the Seattle Supersonics select our crowning jewel of the 2008 draft, Russell Westbrook. 5x All-Star, 1x All NBA First Team, 4x All NBA second team 2015 scoring champ and walking triple-double makes this draft worth the mention. To go along with Brodie, the 2008 draft contributed Westbrook's UCLA teammate Kevin Love (5), current 6th Man frontrunner Eric Gordon (7), All-Star center Brook Lopez (10), All-NBA First Team center, DeAndre Jordan (35) and All-Star point guard Goran Dragic (45).
Other notable selections: Robin Lopez (15), Ryan Anderson (21), Serge Ibaka (24), Nicolas Batum (25), George Hill (26)
#2009
The first of the center three classes that really makes the stretch unbelievable, and this class is the cream of the crop. The top-heavy 2009 is likely to go down as one of the top 5 draft classes of all time, in the same light as '84, '96 and '03.
With the 1st pick in the 2009 NBA draft, the LA Clippers select Blake Griffin. Despite missing his entire rookie season, Blake has garnered 5 All Star appearances, 3 All-NBA 2nd team selections and 1 3rd-team selection. Incredibly enough, the Slam Dunk champion's accolades don't make him even the 2nd best player to come from this draft. With the 3rd pick, the Thunder took MVP candidate James Harden and with the 7th pick, the Golden State Warriors selected 2 time MVP Stephen Curry. The stars of the draft end with Demar DeRozan (10), but the draft was filled with viable starters.
Other notable selections: Tyreke Evans (4), Ricky Rubio (5), Jrue Holiday (17), Ty Lawson (18), Jeff Teague (19), Taj Gibson (26), Demarre Carroll (27)
#2010
2010 has a few stars, but it's real value lies in the borderline All-Stars it has.
With the 1st pick in the 2010 NBA draft, the Washington Wizards select 3x All Star John Wall from the University of Kentucky. The king of the draft, however, would go

P.S. Personally I don't consider KAT or Simmons as entirely consensus, though they were both near consensus, for the entire year (KAT improved as the season went on; Ingram cast a bit of interest at the #1). But if you disagree, I'd love to hear the case for it!

Back in 2012, a friend of mine was one of the coaches for the Good Counsel High School basketball team. Below, is a picture of Good Counsel vs. DeMatha where Markelle Fultz (spelled "Fulkz") played.
http://imgur.com/a/AqB18
He scored 6 points, and was later cut from the JV team, where he played on the freshman team. From Freshman to JV to Varsity to D1 scholarship to potential #1 pick in the NBA Draft. Hard work pays off in the game of basketball.
> Gregg Popovich politely declined to talk about closing in on Don Nelson for the most career regular season NBA coaching wins. > > Reporter shifts to asking Pop what his key to success has been. > > Pop's reply: "Key to success? Draft Tim Duncan. After that, stay alive."
2 HoF Players, a very good starting LB in Bruce Irvin, an Above average CB, making a trade for the key RB, all in one draft. Graded a F which has to be one of the funniest Draft Day r/agedlikemilk moments.
One of the best part:
>Pete Carroll is proving why he didnβt make it in the NFL the first time. Not only was Bruce Irvin a reach at No. 15, the Seahawks proved they were oblivious to their madness by celebrating their selection.
>
>As if the day wasnβt bad enough, Seattle selecting Russell Wilson, a QB that doesnβt fit their offense at all, was by far the worst move of the draft. With the two worst moves of the draft, Seattle is the only team that received an F on draft day.
The first being Morgan Reilly. Wilson also becomes the 5th fastest Washington Capital to 600 games. Wonder if he could have been faster if he didnβt miss a few for, ahem, disciplinary reasonsβ¦
Nikola Jovic is a 18-year-old, 6' 10" forward from (you guessed it) Serbia projected to be selected in the first round of the 2022 NBA Draft.
"Nikola Jovic" is very similar to "Nikola Jokic," the name of a famous basketball player for the Nuggets of Denver, Colorado.
Similar sounding names can often be a source of confusion, but sometimes these coincidences can also be amusing, such as in this example of "Nikola Jovic" and "Nikola Jokic."
This is just for fun and because I was curious about the past draft reactions of r/NBA. It's interesting/funny/surprising to see arm-chair scouts give their .02 on players.
On Thomas Robinson: T-Rob and Cousins? This front court is going to be nasty!!!
On Austin Rivers:Word on the street is he peaked in high school. Doesn't have the skills to create his own shot in the NBA.
Austin's mustache is an abomination.
On Bradley Beal: Big Gator fan here. I watched him all season, and twice live. The guy is an incredible athlete. Good size, plus rebounder, plus shooter. He can drive and dish. Monster dunks. He's also a smart dude and comes from a good family. I'd put money on it that he will turn out to be the best pro in this draft even if Davis pans out. The dude is a beast. I'm biased, but the guy has an extremely high talent ceiling."
On Lillard: Im a little sceptical towards both picks..I mean taking Lillard over Barnes? I know they have Batum but still..also Leonard over Zeller? Although you cant really say those arent solid picks..Dont know just hope this will provide us with the best possilities for the future
Damian Lillard is gonna be the steal of the draft. Although I don't think anyone has seen their stock rise as much as Dion Waiters.
On Dion Waiters: I feel like we are going to do something stupid. I've been hearing Dion Waiters at 4. I hope it is all smokescreens
On the Sacramento Kings suckery: Robinson and Cousins in the frontcourt with Thomas and Evans as guards and Thornton as a potentially great 6th man for scoring off the bench? I feel bad for Kings fans that they're gonna find some way to screw this up.
On John Jenkins: John Jenkins aka the black JJ Reddick.
On Fab Melo - (RIP): Thought this was a joke, read down the comments and saw that people actually like Fa
this was a pretty shocking fact for me to learn so i thought i would share

just read this in sports illustrated's article about davis. i can't find the link to the article because i read it in the magazine, but the cavs and hornetpelicans both finished 21-45 that season so they had a coin flip to decide who would get better odds. the cavs won, but they ended up with the #4 pick and dion waiters. the hornetpelicans jumped up to #1

Wish this was the sort of thing that could get discussed on /r/nba, but apparently not lol. Anyway, curious what people's thoughts are on their list and what y'alls nominations would be
Bill Simmons went all out this year for his Worst *"Most Regrettable" Contracts Draft, bringing on Wozny Lambre and Joe House to go through a multi-round snake draft of the worst contracts in the NBA. I thought it was pretty interesting and decided to tabulate the results. Pod is here and the draft explanation begins around 55:30.
Below is their draft order and some of their comments, and below that are their picks and the contract figures.
With the recent talk of the NBA adding expansion teams in Seattle and Vegas, the likelihood of a looming expansion draft brings up some interesting questions.
The NBA's last expansion draft was in 2004, and saw players like Jason Kapono and Gerald Wallace stripped from their respective teams to form the rosters for the new expansion teams.
Pre-existing teams could "protect" 8 players, which lead to some tough choices on teams with good depth and youth. Impending unrestricted free agents are essentially ignored in an expansion draft.
So, which 8 players would your favourite team protect? And who would be the toughest player/s to potentially let go?
For the Suns, I'd say: Chris Paul, Devin Booker, Mikal Bridges, Jae Crowder, DeAndre Ayton, Cam Johnson, Cam Payne, and Landry Shamet.
It would suck to lose Jalen Smith or Javale (for different reasons) but I feel big men are more replaceable than wings, hence the decision to keep Shamet.
Apologize for phrasing my previous post poorly. Hereβs a better version of the question.
Thanks yβall!
> Right now, the team that gets the No. 1 overall pick will have an immense influence on who goes No. 1. This is not a draft that currently has a no-doubter guy at the top, a la Zion Williamson, Cade Cunningham or Anthony Davis. Rather, I would say there is a good group of four players at the top in Jabari Smith Jr., Paolo Banchero, Chet Holmgren and Jaden Ivey. Team needs will play a role, given the preponderance of big men in that group. And simply put, itβll be an eye-of-the-beholder situation.
> I tried my best to realistically project who will declare and who wonβt, but we obviously have nothing in the way of answers there yet. In that vein, if you donβt see a player here, that doesnβt necessarily mean that I think said player is bad. Rather, I may have just decided not to push said underclassman through to the draft.
> The draft order is based on league-wide rankings as of Jan. 3. Team needs are not accounted for, although if there was something of an interesting fit, I did make sure to note that. There are 58 picks in the 2022 NBA Draft, as the Miami Heat and Milwaukee Bucks have forfeited their second-round picks this year due to free-agency tomfoolery and shenanigans.
Only including excerpts for the Top 15 + Jaden Hardey at 21st (Since both Jovic & Hardey were mentioned in the Top 13 of the Mid-season Consensus Board on this sub)
> I have Smith at No. 1 entering the new year, but itβs a razor-thin margin between him, Banchero and Holmgren. Why Smith? I think his upside is juuuuust a bit higher than the other two if everything breaks right with his game...Smith profiles well as a good teamβs second-best scoring option who can also be a strong defensive player. Thatβs a scalable player to winning situations, and he fits exceedingly well in Detroit given the Pistonsβ disastrous shooting this year.
> Heβs still very strongly in the mix to go No. 1. Heβs as polished a mismatch

Looking back on the 2012 NBA Draft it seems as if only a few teams can be considered "winners" of the draft that year.
New Orleans - Anthony Davis Portland - Damian Lillard Golden State - Draymond Green, Harrison Barnes, Festus Ezeli Detroit - Andre Drummond Washington - Bradley Beal
No other teams seemed to have benefited that well from the 2012 draft.
A few of the lottery busts include Thomas Robinson to the Kings at pick 5, Dion Waiters to the Cavs at pick 4, Austin Rivers to the Pelicans at pick 10, Kendall Marshall to the Suns at pick 13.
What else about the 2012 NBA Draft stands out to you?
