It's a particularly slow Friday today. So little going on that I've been dreadfully bored for most of my shift thus far.

Just an hour ago I was sitting here browsing on Reddit to keep my sanity, when I get an e-mail. It's from corporate customer service and is a complaint that's just been filed with them.

I open it up and log in to view the specific case details. The complaint: "So and so states she has been waiting over an hour to check into the hotel". No further details or specifics.

Actually happy to have something to do and interested to learn what this is all about, I give our GM hotline a call to get some details.

The person who called to file a complaint apparently stated simply that they have been waiting over an hour to check into the hotel as of the time of the complaint being filed and nothing more. I explain to them that it's very slow at out location, I've only had one single guest check in in the last hour and they were in their room within minutes, and there has not been anyone in the lobby other than that one guest, certainly nobody waiting.

They say they will contact the guest for further details. I wait.

Ten minutes later I get a call back from the GM hotline, they tell me they contacted the guest, who states they are still waiting to check in as of this moment. That the guest was yelling and expressing great anger to the point of being unintelligible towards the end of the call before hanging up on them.

I explain that this person must be calling about the wrong hotel, as there's no one here, just me sitting at the desk in a totally quiet lobby by myself.

They say they will try again to reach out to the guest and get to the bottom of this.

Several more minutes go by and GM hotline calls back, she's got the woman on hold on the other line. This is where it gets good.....

So the agent states that they contacted the guest again and pressed them for details, asking if they have the correct hotel, and what problem they are experiencing in specific that has not allowed them to check in, is the FDA not present? Is there a technical issue? Large line? Are they currently in the lobby of the hotel?

She says the woman told her that they are currently in their car in the parking lot waiting. She asked them why they were waiting in their car, and if they had gone into the lobby to check in. Woman states that they have not been able to do that yet because there's been someone parked in the registration spot for the last

Since they're telling people if you don't get it this month, you're gonna have to call them to have them do something with your return, I forget what exactly was said. But this is fucking annoying. Seriously though, 60 goddamn days for people who filed early, but everyone filing now is getting their shit in 2-3 weeks? I swear, did they lose our returns or did they just throw them all on some desk marked "get to it when we get to it", meanwhile everyone else is getting priority. It just doesn't make any sense.

In my non-wook part of my life I work as a construction project manager / cost consultant. I love my company and genuinely enjoy what I do. The people are great to work with but are just normal people, which I can do well at blending in and limit my bassnectar rambles to just a few minutes.

This past weekend we had our holiday party at a nice Italian restaurant. Afterwards a group of us went to some bar that had a cover band playing, I got to chat with some upper management and it was a good time. My gf was getting out of a gig so she couldn’t make dinner but did come to the bar.

To preface, my gf is a 6’1” mixed goddess of a woman, the absolute sweetest human being I’ve ever met and is insane with at hoops / flow arts. So naturally she somehow finds a hoop at the bar and starts going to town.

I was chatting with a coworker who I don’t interact with much (different departments) when her bf, who hadn’t said more than 5 words all night says “ and you’re okay with her being here?”

“What do you mean?”

“Well she’s black and this is a white bar”

I looked at her hooping with a bunch of people watching / filming her and said “does she look uncomfortable?”

We live in the south but in a very progressive city and in my gf’s 5 years of living here not once has she dealt with any kind of racism. I congratulated him on being an asshole, said I’d see my coworker on Monday and went to go hang with my gf. They left a few minutes later clearly arguing.

I know this scene has its flaws, but when you actually look at the acceptance of anybody regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation it’s unparalleled. Most of our social events revolve around some type of electronic (or metal) music and the crowds are always awesome.

I told my gf about the incident and while it’s easy to brush off, we had a whole conversation about how nice it is to be involved in a community that doesn’t give a shit who you are just as long as you respect your neighbor.

Regardless of your genre preference we can all agree that nothing makes you any more special than anyone else.

There’s more I could say, but I just wanted to make this an appreciation post for how awesome y’all are. Love one another like sister and brother.

EDIT - I have been a teary (in a good way for once!) mess reading all of your amazingly kind and supportive comments and it has truly meant the world to me. I was very, very, very close to sending this letter - but then I suddenly realised how completely anxious it would make me worrying about getting a reply - maybe this is a feeling a lot of you can relate to. I have to start with an apology and an admission of the utmost weakness. I simply can’t seperate the horrible lies you’ve told about my dad and the nasty way you handled the divorce - from yours and my relationship and what happened just between us.

Somebody here brought up the Karishma hand injury incident on Ep 3. So I went back and re-watched it.

After Karishma accidentally cut her hand, Dean patted her on the back and said "Oh my god. Go see Dr Joe. Holy..." and took her knife and coconut away for her.

At the time, from the edit, I was just as confused as everyone else as to what really happened. Some viewing audience thought she over-reacted. Chelsea at post-game interview said she did check on Karishma. The whole thing was just weird.

But looking at the rest of the surviving old-Lairo tribemates in the game: Missy, Elizabeth, Aaron, Elaine, and Dean.

It just made me re-think the whole thing. I don't wanna say that Karishma didn't overreact or exaggerate. I still don't know what happened.

But based on what happened this week, I think I believe Karishma's side of the story a little more than I had at the time.
