A list of puns related to "Yogic"
Hello everyone! I am conducting a psychological study about yogic practitioners for my dissertation, I would like to promote how healing yoga is for our mental health and how it supports us in realizing our full potential. Please, if you are interested, take 10-15 minutes to complete the survey. All answers will be anonymous and confidential, and would greatly contribute to shining a light on the benefits of yoga.
Thank you very much in advance and I hope you all stay safe and well! xo
Namaste, all!
I have been practicing for about 10 years now, much more regularly in the past 3 - 5 years, and almost daily this year after a running injury (plantar fasciitis). I practice almost exclusively at home, sometimes with a YouTube practice (Breathe and Flo are my jam), sometimes with music, sometimes silently, usually very slow.
I want to deepen my practice to the point where I can sustainably practice daily with no cues from a video, etc. I want to get and stay strong, challenge myself, and delve deeper into the spiritual practice of yoga. It makes sense to me that the next step would be to get some training in a specific lineage of yoga.
I know there are many schools of yoga, many traditions, etc, but I'm not sure where to begin. In the small amount of research I have done, I've been very interested in Mysore yoga specifically because of its emphasis on a personal practice. But there are no Mysore teachers/classes in Sacramento, CA that I've been able to find.
Anyway, any advice on what to do next? Seek a guru? Travel to India? Teacher training? Thanks and namaste!
Just wanted to share my experience with this. Just an hour ago I learned how to do yogic breathing where while inhaling you consciously expand you stomach >> then your lower ribs >> then upper ribs >> then your collar bones. And while exhaling you lower your collar bones >> contract upper chest >> then lower >> then stomach.
And with my first 3 breaths I ended up laughing. And it wasn't even one time. Seems like every time I do this I end up laughing. And it's awesome!
It's easier to do it while lying down in shavasana as compared to sitting or standing. Also empty stomach is better than full for this.
Hey gamers!
I was wondering if anyone had any recommended resources, i.e. books, etc. that have more information on the techniques described in one of Dr. K's recent videos, specifically the one where he leads a guided sunyata meditation at the end (the video was titled "Why you're always unhappy," I believe).
Thank you!

The following are a series of excerpts from the Holy Hinduism Scripture of the Bhagavata Purana focusing on the philosophy and yogic practice of Transcendentalism β The knowledge through which one is awaken from the illusion and limitation of a material existence of endless birth and death, and with faith and devotion attains oneness in the blissful freedom of the everlasting unattached Living Spirit who is the causeless dreamer of an infinity of lives, worlds, and universes.

There are 3 specific poses in Yoga which enable you to transmute the semen upwards, and allow the body to reabsorb the semen. One of them also gives you momentary control over your urges, when they seem extremely strong. (Also The first two poses prevent wet dreams to an extent)
The Shrishasana or Head stand pose allows the body to reabsorb the semen back within the body, apart from the semen aspect, it is very beneficial to the body overall, it's very hard to do at first, so you must lean against the wall, in the beginning the time limit should be just 1 or 2 mins when you do it. Also yes this pose does prevent wet dreams to a very good extent.
Here is a link to a video that explains how to do it : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jy-WHVY8TJg
The Sarvangasana or Shoulder stand pose is very very similar to the head stand pose but it is much easier to do, it has the same benefits of transmutation and in the beginning you should only hold it for 1 or 2 minutes. This pose also prevents nocturnal emissions.
Here is a link to a video that explains how to do it : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eAO_XGG8xL0
3.Siddasana (Literal translation : The Perfect Pose; The Accomplished Pose)
If you do meditation, please start sitting in the Siddasana position instead of the lotus pose or just a normal criss cross, this pose is extremely beneficial in semen retention, it allows you to transmute as well as momentarily have control over the urges when they're too strong, this is far more better than any other meditation pose due to the immense overall benefits it has. You must keep the left heel at the perineum and the right heel above the dick.

These poses must be done everyday, there must be a 2-3 hour gap after you eat your meals to do these poses, to prevent any digestive issues. Preferably in the morning before breakfast and evening after lunch (2-3 hours after).
So in the beginning, this is how long each pose must be done:

Similarly the semen is the physical aspect of the non physical veerya or life force energy. This non physical energy is needed for the physical body for EVERYTHING - growth, maintainence, sense organs, thought, digestion you name it.
This is why children puberty comes after the body has achieved certain degree of maturity. In children this life force energy is used for the growing body.
However in its physical form this life force energy is the semen, capable of bringing new life in the world.
When people say transmutation it is not the semen travelling up your chakras, it is the life force energy.
During masturbation/sex, this life force energy gets centred around the sex centre, entering this physical semen and is released out after an orgasm.
It is like a part of your soul, a part of your being left you. That is why one feels hollow and weak and powerless after an ejaculation.
I know that you are all exhausted by Islam. Islam, as a religion, didn't make any sense to you. That's the reason you're here. I've been an Atheist and Anti-Islamist before and it's quite understandable how you feel about this religion. Well, if monotheism didn't make any sense to you, would you join Paganism/Idol Worship/Hinduism/Yogic Culture? This question used to intrigue me, so I thought of asking this here since this is the best platform for such questions. Thank you.
Hello
I am asking about information for future use as I'd like to take time to research and communicate with potential ashrams.
I am interested in ashrams where a yogic lifestyle is practiced and, one can go live there for some months or even longer.
I am not asking about a hatha yoga training course, I am asking about places that do things like prepare people for and teach them yogic lifestyle, including yin, meditation, breathing, and working with the earth, helping others.
I am in the process of dealing with severe chronic illnesses and a lot of trauma, and once my health stabilises my partner and I would like to discover any opportunities where we could go to heal and reconnect with ourselves and one another. To reset after all the trauma we have endured due to my conditions.
Many thanks π
Hi, I thought about sharing my own experience with yogic practices over the years and their influence/effect on semen retention. I am happy to hear your experiences as well and feel free to add anything you want.
Semen Retention and yogic practices - this doesn't come out of nowhere. Any kind of spiritual practices and Semen Retention, brahmacarya or celibacy go hand in hand as honey and nectar do. I am speaking about yogic practices as this is the tradition I learned from and in my opinion these practices and the knowledge is universal. There is one human body and it may live in different cultures, but the laws of nature are the same.I want to note at this point, just as a side note for many of this community, that brahmacarya is not only something for men. Both men and women are able to keep their energy in. It is due to cultural reasons that the explicit knowledge about semen retention is more popular than it is for women. While men masturbating every day or male orgasm as the end of sex is an accepted social thing, female menstruation is still a big taboo and seen as disgusting in society. So I want to emphasize that most of the practices noted here as are as useful for women to work with their energy as they are for men. Speaking out of experience with close ones, they can be so powerful that they may stop female menstruation immediately after their usage (which may not be comfortable if one is not prepared).
Many users here on this sub, especially in the beginning of their journey, are often looking for ways to control themselves. It is not easy to do that. It is not easy to do that out of nothing. Often the ongoing practitioner needs to be taken from where they are at that point which is for most not having total control of their being.
Before I start I want to clarify that what most of these practices do is to guide energy in a specific way which can have many effects and it is helpful to learn them from a trustful source.A trustful source for learning some of these things is ayp.org as it lays strong emphasis on sexual energy, but of course there are many others out there.
Meditation
Right at the core of everything else. This is where you got to go. Earlier or later. Meditation is the core practice of any spiritual journey. It will take you till the end. Everything else is just scenery.
To master yourself you will need to master your being. Meditation will clear everything out. If in doubt, try it out. Regularity ove

What are the practices/sadhana that would be best for me? Currently I practice Sadhgurus Isha kriya almost daily and when I finally stop procrastinating and get some yoga done I almost always stick to a combination of Surya Namaskar and Yoga Namaskar with some other practices thrown in here and there.
One last request would be for some suggestions and recommendations of Ayurvedic resources I can use to help begin to structure my life in a healthier and more supportive way.
Thanks in advance for taking the time to read and for any replies/help I receive π
Tapas and Yoga: striving to be better, with intention and self-discipline. Tapas is heat, specifically the kind of heat generated by certain yogic practices.
"First, let us be Gods, and then help others to be Gods. "Be and make." Let this be our motto. Say not man is a sinner. Tell him that he is a God. Even if there were a devil, it would be our duty to remember God always, and not the devil."
Swami Vivekananda
Hi, so. This maybe sounds fantastical; "who am I for even trying to do that?" But hear me out.
I'm in an interesting position in life.
First the bad stuff, before I show the forks in the road.
Like so many of you I've been 'failing' at life, though in maybe a different way. I'm unemployed with a degree in computer science (still don't know if I like programming) and had jobs that I didn't like. My vice is watching Youtube and tv/netflix and any attempt at limiting or eliminating my problematic behaviour has failed. I'm an average looking, 24yo guy that never had a relationship, my guess is because of my low self worth because I can't manage life. A girlfriend in my mind is nice AND more problems that I just can't handle.
Now that we travelled some distance on the pity train. I have multiple roads ahead of me (go study something else, go pick berries in Norway, find another job and try to make it work this time, etc.) and I would like to inquire about the yogic route, sort of like Doctor K. took.
I am searching for a new environment. Since my environment and me conbined keeps failing me. Everywhere internet. Everywhere escapism.
I have the time and money to maybe take this route, but there are some questions that come to mind.
If you have any questions, I'd be pleased to answer them.
Namo maΓ±juΕriye!
Having imbibed the nectar of the guruβs advice,
And followed the lineageβs way of profound instructions,
I have arrived at the genuine state of realization,
The sovereign mind-as-such, uncontrived and naturally at rest.
Mind is equal to space, clear and unsullied,
Naturally free from the turbulence of thought,
Innate dharmakΔya, co-emergent great blissβ
Actual suchness wherein all things are equal.
This space has never known happiness or suffering.
And awareness, too, has always been free of arising,
Without the marks of joy or sorrow, transition or change.
This is the supreme yogaβseeing the clear light of oneβs own awareness.
Within the experience of space all phenomena are vividly apparent.
Within the experience of awareness saαΉsΔra and nirvΔαΉa appear as illusory.
Whatever manifests is freed by itself without gain or loss, adoption or rejection.
Multiplicity is of a single nature within this blissful yoga of space.
May great compassion, which is truly without the slightest notion Of reference or focus, extend to the farthest limits of space and time. And through effortless, spontaneous enlightened activity May I liberate the entire ocean of infinite living beings!
DhΔ«αΈ₯ wrote down whatever arose spontaneously on the thirteenth day of the seventh month of the Earth Bird year of the fifteenth calendrical cycle (1909). May virtue abound!

This is a fair description of the exercise. While doing this, I assume symmetrical balanced postures & move slowly & mindfully, concentrating on the feeling of the sound I am producing from within. Use www.onlinetonegenerator.com in order to produce these precise frequencies of these tones.
*thymus, I feel is an underestimated glandular organ. Too important to overlook, so I aim to precisely "activate" it as well.
** psychic center, just going off of that GreatDreams webpage, but I am willing to tout this; legit, I lend my faith. Also note how there is a 32.64hz difference from throat.

{Astral Center? - UNKNOWN} *** : 517.12hz / 528hz β 1-2mins, Vowel; HHEENG +(crane neck up & down, slow rhythmic, erect posture)
*** astral center, based on my estimation that there WOULD be a further along major chakra point resonating at either 32.64hz OR 43.52hz (21.76 Γ2) beyond crown, 484.48hz. It is also worth noting that the difference between Earth & Root is 5.44, which is 1/4 of 21.76. This is a fascinating set of numerical associations.

After performing this exercise, I feel amazing. Very clear minded & peaceful.
A thought came to me after completing the exercise today. I was recalling the enticing mild closed eye visual patterns I was seeing midway through, & thought of how, ordinarily, I would not be viewing this marvelous experience as I was during the exercise. I compared this to how, while crossing the eyes, one would not be able to correctly perceive with their vision; the sight would be imbalanced, & so dysfunctional. Similarly, I think this migh
... keep reading on reddit β‘Dr K often talks about the yogic perspective and bridges the gap between yoga / Ayurveda as teachings and modern understandings of mental health. While itβs easy to benefit from watching videos that touch on these concepts in a piecemeal fashion, Iβm looking for books that can introduce me to these teachings that also bridge the gap with modern mental health. I do have some Buddhism books by Thich Nhat Hanh that feel relevant but sometimes on a mildly different wavelength than where Dr Kβs talks go.
Does anyone have any book recommendations that can get me started with the Yogic perspective / Ayurveda with relevance to mental health? TIA
I wanted to hear your guys thoughts on these 2 concepts and the cultural attitudes towards them. I found it interesting that in far eastern culture Siddhis powers are considered a distraction towards one's union with God. How is the use of Magick in western esoteric culture viewed? Is it simply just another tool?
