Favourite Yiddish theater performances on YouTube?

Hi all.

Thank you for letting me join your Subreddit, it is great to see the amount of resources being shared in this community. I am very interested in watching performances of Yiddish theater pieces, either historical or modern, and would love if you had any you could share. I have seen some Yiddish theater live, whatever I can catch in New York. I would love anything you can share, including digital performances as well as on stage, if you have any.

A big thank you in advance!

Jeopardy! recap for Thur., Dec. 9 - Professors Tournament day four

Here are the contestants for day four of the Professors Tournament:

  • Julia, an English professor at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, whose department wants to create well-rounded scientists and engineers;
  • Ed, a history professor at American River College, whose mentors could "rock a bow tie"; and
  • RamΓ³n, an associate professor of English American literature and Latino studies at the University of Nebraska at Omaha, whose has some family history as part of his dissertation.

Ed found all three DDs with the lead each time, scored on both in DJ and had the game wrapped up into FJ at $27,400. Julia ($5,800) and RamΓ³n ($1,400) were just tying to keep their wild card hopes alive.

DD2 - $1,600 - YIDDISH THEATER - A surprise New York hit in 2018 was a Yiddish-language "Fiddler on the Roof"; this song becomes "Ven Ikh Bin a Rotshild" (Ed won $2,400 from his leading total of $10,600.)

DD3 - $1,200 - SCIENCE VOCABULARY - "Specific" this is the ratio of a substance's density to that of a standard substance, often water (With a huge lead, Ed added $1,200 to his score of $26,200.)

Only Ed was correct on FJ, adding $4,700 to win with $32,100. Julia dropped $2,000 to $3,800 and still remains in the running, while RamΓ³n lost everything. Going into tomorrow's last game of this round, all three players can advance with scores over $4,000.

Generous judging dept.: For one response, Julia in quick succession first forgot the proper phrasing, then gave an incorrect response, then gave a correct response. Even though the timer on the podium had

Satmar yiddish dialect coach or consultant to the community wanted!

Hi! Looking for recommendations for a yiddish dialect coach in the NYC area(facetime assistance works as well). I just landed the role of a chassidishe man in a short film and want to perfect what i’ve got so far. Background: i was not raised religious but still got sent to a modern orthodox school anyway, i’ve worked as a real estate agent in brooklyn for the past 3 years to support my acting. I’ve worked with satmar chasidim on a daily basis so i’m very familiar with chassidishe culture but the obstacle i’m facing is finding proper guidance. The majority of published literature relating to the yiddish dialect doesnt account for modern day satmar inflections and pronunciations, geared more towards Eastern dialect more reminiscent of old school Yiddish theater, a different beast entirely. I’ve started on Yiddish Duolingo( to my surprise they use Satmar pronunciation) and would love some recs for a human counterpart to bounce ideas off of ifpossible!

SERIOUS: This subreddit needs to understand what a "dad joke" really means.

I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.

Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
