A list of puns related to "Xbmc"
I had some corrupted files that wouldnt transfer through FTP completely. It was showing "missing artwork" boxes on these files in the UI. I was attempting to remove the files completely and get them off the UI and I hit an option that was "remove source." After I did this all games were removed from the UI, but are still showing on my HDD. How do I get the games to show back up on the UI? Thank you for your help.
I mean no offense, but having switched to badging the software, "Kodi" after quite a few years now, why is the xbmc nomenclature still used? Is it for sentimental reasons? I've never really seen this addressed. Seems like confusion to me. "Kodi" hasn't been "xbmc" for years yet many articles written on it still refer to it as "formerly xbmc" And on github it is located under "xbmc."
Just playing a little devil's advocaate, from the outside of the project looking in it appears that maybe some developers just won't "let it go" for whatever reason? I'm not trying to "cast stones" at the project. I'm really kind of curious why? I know that the "xbmc" sourced from the Xbox Media Center. So I'm aware of the projects linage. Im more curious about "Why do developers and those who write articles insist on keeping the xbmc nomenclature alive?
OKAY! I got the stream file to work in XBMC4XBOX 3.5.3.
The source URL was really hard to find, but I managed to get ahold of it for the EST stream.
all you have to do now is transfer the .STRM file to your XBOX HDD and use XBMC's Video manager to locate the file and run it.
I was trying all last night to get this to work! It's finally done! Enjoy!
Hello everyone, I've gotten an OG Xbox from a thrift store and when I booted it up, a softmod was already installed called "XBMC". I've heard of softmodding for the OG Xbox, but I wanted to uninstall the softmod and everything related to it.
Is there a way I can uninstall the softmod? I've heard of the "007 Goldeneye" disc trick, but I don't own the game. I've also heard of the "Rocky5 Softmod Uninstaller" on YouTube, but I can't find the direct ISO. I'd prefer to use a softmod where I can use a disc to uninstall the mod.
There were visualizations built in. 100s of them. Iβd eat mushrooms and play it in the background to music. Ever since it went to Kofi, the visualizations, and the sheer quantity, have disappeared. I know I can add an individual visual, but anyone know how to get a ton of them with less βone by oneβ effort?
So recently I've been tinkering with an old Xbox I've dug up and I've updated my softmod (that I installed in highschool) using the new Rocky Softmodding Tool. I've always been a pretty big fan of XBMC as a media player in the past. I would file-share my music and video libraries to my console a lot.
I've stumbled upon Toonami Aftermath sort of recently and noticed there was a Kodi plugin for it and was sort of curious as to whether it were possible to stream TA from XBMC. Most of it is SD quality and it was apparently possible to play streams from XBMC in the past.
I was actually able to install the plugin in XBMC (3.5.3) and it recognizes it, but fails to play. Which also raised my curiosity some more, because the plugin hasn't been updated in a while. Possibly a bad plug in with a potential fix?
I've also managed to get a .M3U8 of TA to run on VLC using the network play, but when trying to run it on XBMC it doesn't work. Same with trying to create a .STRM file (which I could also be doing incorrectly because I've never made one before, and I'm not sure if I'm using the correct URL).
Just curious. I would like to hear your thoughts. Most threads I've researched are from 2014, and there really isn't many threads that are in-depth as far as .STRM or .M3U8.
It'd be a nice little setup if it can be done. I currently have my Xbox running on an old Samsung CRT and my friend has a Raspberry Pi running on his mini CRT that streams TA pretty much 24/7. I'm a huge sucker for nostalgia.
When I cold boot my modded Xbox I have to hold down the left trigger for it to boot to xbmc, if I donβt then it goes to the x3 bios.
Within the bios itself i go to x3 config live then quick launch where it says βon startup hold trigger for quick launchβ but I have no idea how to adjust it so I donβt have to do that?
Any help would be appreciated
Hey folks, so I tried installing the heretic port from urldownloader in xbmc emustation and it asks where to install, I've tried different folders but I don't see a port/homebrew/dos folder anywhere, do I create one?
Also i have a few segacd games that are in iso format, I downloaded neogenesis emulator but a folder was never created with that name, Do I just make a new folder and name it neogenesis somewhere?
Thanks for any help
I am trying to install the IAGL but every time I try to it says β The dependency on XBMC.python version 3.0.0 could not be satisfied.β Please help I donβt know what to do thanks in advance.
Machine was a 1st-gen i3-540 with integrated graphics so nothing special but it could decode x265 at 1080p which was all that my AVR can handle. Now that it's time to look at replacements, is there a compelling reason to choose another x86 with integrated graphics over something ARM-based if my intention is to run Kodi in kiosk mode?
I figure I have enough spare components in the closet so that my only outlay would be a new CPU+mobo...Figure something alone the lines of a Ryzen 3200G or an i3-10100. So the cost wouldn't be much more than a Shield Pro but quite a bit more than, say, an ODROID N2+.
Edit: After some more research, I'm given the impression that Kodi-focused OSes like libreELEC and coreELEC only have web browsers on x86 platforms but not ARM platforms. Not having a browser would be a problem since my wife uses the Kodi Chrome add-on for things like her yoga zoom classes and for watching shows on PBS Masterpiece. So if I were to go with an ARM-based device, I assume that limits me to using a full-fledged OS like Raspian or OSMC? I assume this isn't a problem for Shield since it's Android?
adding a c64 romset through auto scan mode and am waiting through the long process of "lower-casing rom names". Since the romset has 17000 roms, it would take at least 24 hours for the process to finish at this pace. Is there any way to "batch lower-case" all the folder/file names on my pc before the FTP process to avoid the wait on my xbox? Thanks
Back in the day with ps3ms and regular smb or upnp sharing I could stream things, but messing around today I thought using my Plex server would be fun. I found a profile online from 2014ish that I added to Plex, but Iβm not seeing anything on xbmc, aside from the pc that my server is on (no videos or appropriate libraries show up). Just curious if anyone has done this, itβd be neat and a novelty, but I could distract my son with paw patrol if Iβm messing with other things in the game room!
Edit: LOL thanks for the downvote for asking a question π
Long story short is Iβm having an issue where attempting to launch a game from xbmc results in a short black screen and then just restarts xbmc. No OG games will launch. Same outcome if I launch the XBE manually. Emulators work fine. Issue was occurring on two separate xboxβs with two separate hard drives.
I posted about this before but have an update to add. On one of the Xboxβs (and HDD) exhibiting the issue, I wiped the drive in windows, scanned for errors (none found) and reformatted and repartitioned it with Hexen, and slowly transferred all my content over, and voila problem fixed. Everything works fine, games launch. I tried moving this HDD over to the other Xbox that was having the same issues, fully expecting everything to work now with the fixed HDD, and somehow the problem is back. Games wonβt launch. Swap the HDD back to the previous Xbox that I previously used to format and ftp, boom everything works again. Swap back to the other Xbox, the problem is back.
WTF is going on here?!? Are hard drives somehow tied to Xboxβs?? Both Xboxβs are hard modded with the drives unlocked. Is my mod chip failing / misbehaving?? Iβm no expert but Iβve been in the scene for a few years now and this has me completely stunned. Please help lol
I have a project in mind that will likely be best performed using XBMC-Emustation and was wondering if someone (maybe u/JCRocky5 ) could point me in the right direction as to which files I need to update/edit.
I want to add a new category/e-reader of sorts but NOT one that launches via XBE. This new platform would display the 2D/3D box art images, as you would normally see for a ROM or Xbox game, but instead open a Comic Book Zip (CBZ) file by selecting the 3D box art image.
XBMC has the ability to display images found within a CBZ archive and allows navigating back and forth to the next image, as if reading a manual or viewing a PDF. The images/e-books I would want to view are CBZ converted PDFs from my Dungeons & Dragons LaunchBox Platform. You can view the platform here: https://forums.launchbox-app.com/files/file/1626-dungeons-dragons-manuals-modules-platform/
LaunchBox is a front-end for launching emulators, much like Emustation, and uses image driven screens to select games. I made a D&D Platform for LaunchBox that opens PDFs and have been attempting to get a similar result using XBMC-Emustation. By converting a PDF to CBZ, then uploading that file to the Xbox, I was able to view the images as if reading the PDF.
So my actual question: is it possible to add the 2D/3D images and CBZ files into XBMC-Emustaiton so it appears as one of the standard system selections (such as Sega Genesis or Xbox games) or are these common systems compiled/integrated into the native code of the dashboard?
Again, there is no XBE to launch as this whole system is image based so adding a CUSTOM title to the home screen would not work. Basically, this would be like browsing photos but more organized/streamlined.
NOTE: Regular XBMC has a feature that is very close to what I want to achieve. If you designate a folder as a PHOTO folder, XBMC will use the first image in the CBZ archive as the thumbnail image. Once the archive file is clicked on, XBMC will allow you to view the pages one after another. I want to take this functionality and put it on the main screen of XBMC-Emustation.
Thanks for any suggestions and help.

... keep reading on reddit β‘Hi. I am trying to run my softmodded, North American region XBOX on a Sony wega CRT through component cables. I have an xbox HD AV box connected to the xbox, then component cables going from that to the component inputs on the TV. The CRT is only capable of 480i.
When I turn on the xbox I can see the intro animation playing clearly. When XBMC launches however, all I get is a distorted, grayish screen. Searching online mentions something about HD resolutions, but none appear to give a clear solution. I am guessing XBMC is set to display in progressive mode.
I tried changing Video Settings on XBMC itself. To be specific, I disabled the "Enable 480p/720p/1080i" options and set the aspect ratio to "Normal". Saved changes then power cycled my xbox. This didn't work.
I tried doing the same by going the Video Settings through the UnleashX program. This didn't work either.
I tried doing the same on the original MS dahsboard. No luck.
I tried hooking up the xbox through a normal composite cable to the TV's composite inputs. XBMC's display shows fine with this cable.
I tried hooking up the xbox through a different XBOX HD AV box (I have two). Same problem.
I've double checked my cable connections and the RCA plugs are all properly connected. I also tried different component cables.
At this point I've run out of ideas. Would appreciate any suggestions or advice.

I just bought a modified Xbox from eBay and am thoroughly enjoying it so far... My question is: how does one set up Xbox live via the Insignia method when I can't boot back to the original dashboard? The seller on eBay said that he has never tried himself so I was wondering if someone in the community has come across a workaround for this... If none exist, I can always buy another Xbox and use that as my online one...
Hello, New user to Kodi. I had to do a college project using python where i had to make a synchronized pause and play. So i decided to go with kodi as it supports Python scripts.I am unable to find the xbmc module online and somepeople in quora said it comes eith its own custom interpreter which i was not able to find.i just want to be able to add that custom python interpreter to my pycharm IDE if it exists or atleast be able to download it. Or is the only way i write the code is just edit work with the python scripts without the ide and run it via trial and error?. Would be really greatful if i could geta link to a updated python kodi tutorial or manual. Operating System:Windows Device:Asus Tuff Laptop Version:Kodi 19 matrix Country:India
Is there a work around for the title message?
Running Matrix 19.1 on nvidia shield tv
It would definitely be interesting to see something like that be implemented (it would most likely only work in 480p with a very limited set of features, but would be cool none-the-less)
Kodi 19 warning to change xbmc. translatePath to use xbmcvfs.translatePath. How and Where?
I do not know what I did.. and now when I head out of XBMC I now get the error 21 screen.. please help
