Remember this video from a year ago in Mauritania? This video showcases what a condescending prick and a snobby asshole Benjamin Rich really is. It also shows what a one trick “ Soviet” pony he really is and anyone thinking he is this great travel scholar who oozes history what a windbag he really is.
He calls this and has titled this video as the “ Worst train in Africa “. Well, this is not the Orient Express or the Maharajah’s Express and if you watched every other vlogger and news outlet who have done and documented this, you would get some perspective.
It is a free ( as in $0 ) train ride on a freight train that is primarily for transporting iron ore from the mines to the port. You ride it.at your own risk knowing fully well that this is not a passenger train by any stretch of imagination. And the highlight of the train ride is the spectacular ride through the desert landscape of the Sahara. Everyone who has ever been on this train knew that except Benjamin Rich.
And I don’t even want to get into the parts of the video where he was being a condescending prick to his driver/guide who lives in abject poverty in one of the poorest countries in the world yet generous enough to invite him and his gf into his home and feed him. Bald was just an insufferable wanker who was criticizing his house and the place he lives in and how filthy it is comparing it to Brighton and the Kensington palace and being a total dickwad. His gf on the other hand was extremely respectful and appreciative of the hospitality and you can notice the difference.
Lastly, he went there without doing any research and his only goal was to shoot poverty porn to pander to his lowest common denominator viewers. There are actually unique places you can visit in Mauritania like a desert oasis and sand dunes etc but he was interested in none of that except poverty porn. Unfortunately, that didn’t work out because the people there are averse to people sticking a camera on their faces. He completely missed shooting the highlight of Mauritania which is the Sahara desert and the towns and civilizations scattered around it. He didn’t do any research or reading up and everything on his mind was to shoot poverty porn and flog it to his viewers with all his usual condescending prick comments like the real him as Vorkuta and not his invented personality.

At a recent get together of former Boston Shinkendo students, the personality of that lame dojo's sensei, the guy they call "Little Shaffee" was discussed.
