A list of puns related to "Egotist"
So my number one objection to a lot of political ideologies is that they depend on the populace to already be willfully accepting the system and putting its needs before their own.
This is of course, absolute hogwash and positive thinking. Assuming everybody involved actively supports their system, and puts the need of it first, literally any system is possible. Including Capitalist Anarchy. Which is fucking ridiculous.
So, assuming that everyone is as selfish as they are in modern capitalist societies - how could the country work, at all? No one will work unless it's profitable for them. No one will cooperate with the state unless literally forced. No one will surrender their rights if they can get away with it.
In most explanations of Communism, there is an assumption that there is already a fair bit of support for the idea. So, what if people do not support Communism? You would have to force them to work via Police/Military. And the Police/Military are more workers that aren't working.
And if you assume the position of "Oh people will cooperate of their own volition" you're taking the stance most ridiculous ideologies take. Yes, your Feminist Monarchist Anarchy will totally work if everyone readily agrees with every single rule and is willing to sacrfice themselves for it. That does not make it not stupid.
So, for example. I am your typical capitalist egotist. I work, because I have to. If I could get money/living for not working, I'd probably do it, if it's acceptable. If I could take from the state, I would. If I don't want to give charity to the poor, I don't. Capitalism is comprised of selfish assholes, and yet it stands, stronger than ever.
Could Communism, comprised of 99% people like me, stand? If it cannot, then the whole idea is wishful thinking.
So hear me out. This roommate is one of the biggest assholes I've encountered in a while.
Everything started when he stopped paying rent with no notice whatsoever. Just didn't pay for three months and, when asked to pay at the end of those months, made a fuss about it for about two weeks, resulting in one of us having to scream at him to pay or move out at the end of the same month. But that's not all. Around the same time he also stopped talking to everyone in the flatshare, or if he was talking to people just being very condescending and arrogant about it, constantly being late for meetings that we need to hold as we are many people living together, not contributing any to the food we share nor putting in money to buy the food that he was also consuming, not doing the cleaning tasks he was assigned to resulting in other people having to clean eg. the bathroom for him because he just didn't do it, leaving his own dishes and trash lying about until someone else cleaned up the mess for him and generally acting like a spoiled brat who lets others work for them because that's what they believe they're entitled to. All while visibly lounging around the common areas for days and inviting over groups of friends in the middle of a pandemic, after which he would also leave the cleanup to everyone else. Ah, and he lost his key and simply never got another copy during all these months, always relying on others to let him into the flatshare.
After we confronted him about this, he denied it, lied about having paid, lied about having done chores, basically just lied and denied his way out of everything and told US that we were in the wrong because we should have "told him earlier". We did tell him. On multiple occasions. We also started the entire project with a clear discussion about our principles, one of which was sharing and contributing to the work that we need to do around the house equally. But clearly it is "our fault" for demanding basic things that we agreed on in the beginning, and for asking that he pay rent like the rest of us lest we aren't thrown out collectively by our landlords. He proceeded to call our problems "laughible" and when confronted about the fact that that wasn't the way to handle the response to his lack of taking responsibility in every possible way just babbled on about how unfair it was that we wouldn't let him give his perspective.
Now that his moving-out date is fixed and we asked him to sign paperwork for it that would remove him
... keep reading on reddit β‘I don't know how else to describe this lady. She's this combination of being a neurotic, stressed out, mess...yet some how she's also incredibly vain, and egotistical.
Everything sets her off. Every little thing has to be done her way. It has to be the way she'd do it. The typical "My way or the highway" kind of attitude.
She never asks questions or attempts to understand. She just makes assumptions, that are often incredibly flawed, utterly lacking any kind of logic, and you can tell she's the sort who believes that it's just her way or not at all because well she's the boss.
Due to the fact that she talks from a position of superiority everything she says sounds condescending as all get out.
She's also constantly building herself up as being better than everyone else. Is the store doing well? It's all because of her. Is the store being poorly? Better throw a fit and tell everyone they suck.
Her logic is flawed at best, and completely lacking at worst.
As an example today she criticized my way of doing my job, and sent me somewhere else. Then she got all surprised when suddenly the department I was in slowed down to a crawl. She never put it together that I was the reason production was so high/efficient in that area.
She treats people like crap, but also expects to have her ass kissed. Due to this it's clear that she has favorites. People who suck up more to her get better treatment.
I'm just approaching the end of my patience with her.
I just needed to get that off my chest.
So does elegant egotist only work if exactly harpie lady is on the field? Because I was playing on duelingnexus and when I had other harpie cards like perfumer or channeler, I couldn't active Elegant egotist?
im at a point in my life where i cant stand and get offended romantic hinting. this goes to the point that even if i get that shes dropping hints, unless she says something, i simply ignore it and move on. i dont particularly care if i stay single forever, i refuse to date a woman who wont be honest and upfront about her intentions. to me, romantic hinting is selfish, childish and there to protect a very very fragile ego. men are not "dumb" or "oblivious" for not getting your hints, youre not communicating well. subtext and reading between the lines isnt universal and no matter how hard you try to blame guys for not getting it, its not our fault nor will i take responsibility for it.
The Wolf of Wall Street is essentially Leonardo DiCaprio, Jonah Hill and a bunch of other rich white stock brokers shouting, swearing, doing drugs and having sex for 3 hours yet it's still boring af( It did launch the career of the amazing Margot Robbie, the only worthwhile thing to come out of this film). Also, Scorsese needs to stop being so arrogant and accept that cinema is changing and evolving. People don't want to see the same gritty, New York set, female devoid gangster drama starring Robert de Niro/ Joe Pesci/ Leonardo DiCaprio
Might not be unpopular elsewhere but it seems an unpopular opinion in the U.K. right now.
TL:DR - Britain is a small backwater country who would be a lot more successful working with its partners rather than trying to run with the big boys.
-Brexit isnβt making us better.
-We are not a world power, nor will we ever be again. Our position has been massively inflated due to our past and our nuclear deterrent.
-We are not superior to the rest of Europe, in many ways we are massively inferior.
-No thatβs not the EUβs fault. In many situations itβs happened in Spite of being in the EU.
-We arenβt weakened by immigrants. We are weakened by constantly voting in capitalist governments who protect the financial sector above all else. Most of which is untaxed and 99% of profits go to 1% of the population.
-Countries like India, China, Saudi Arabia and Russia arenβt clamouring for trade deals with us, they are clamouring for access to our financial markets so they can launder unethically sources money through London stocks and clean it up. We are being used and weβre somehow proud of it.
-The blonde haired, scruffy sugar puff monster in No.10 is not your friend or looking out for Britain. He wrote a thesis after leaving Eton about the inferiority of the working man and the innate intelligence and superiority of the rich.
-This opinion does not mean I donβt love my country or should leave. It is because I am proud of where I come from and can see through the bullshit as to who we really should be.
Hello!
I have a question regarding Elegant Egotist.
Scenario:
I have one Harpie monster on board and I activate Elegant Egotist. My opponent responds with a card to remove the Harpie. Does Egotist resolve with me summoning a monster?
Thanks in advance.
Calls me an egotist because I don't listen to him. Says she looks like a "refrigerator".
I know he's just mad that the family and his friends will judge him for it.
My mom doesn't insult her but she goes to fortune tellers and tells me what they say about her not being the one and that she will "ruin my life" according to the fortune teller.
This has been the case with every girl I liked. They always find something wrong. One time he yelled at one gf I had at the time and called her a slut and to "go back to 42nd street"
I get so envious when my friends tell me that they had their girlfriends over for dinner with their parents etc...must be nice lol
Idk just a rant. Feels good to just tell this to ppl bc I'm embarrassed to tell friends. Thanks for listening
It was an I. for an I.
The title says it all tbh, and I don't mean it in a guilt-trippy way either, its more classic "CM-tries-and-fails-to-be-self-deprecating". As my resignation post canonically states, I'm done here really. I've got shit IRL I need to do, and I get in more stupid fights than a Youtube comments section. I never thought of myself as relevant enough to write one of these, but I guess there isn't an entry barrier, it's just easier to communicate here than rejoin main and type a message that'll get buried. Rest assured, I don't take myself as seriously as this post suggests.
I'll just quickly type out some off the cuff thoughts that y'all can have a thonk about before going back to discussing the merits of Greggs v Tesco.
The left is dangerously fucked. This seems like a callout post or a whinge, it's neither. The left has some serious fundamental problems on the model world in particular, idk why, maybe its because we suck, maybe its because leftists are too cool to care about MHOC, idfk. But I think its concerning that you've got the centre-left-centre-right-I-don't-even-know-don't-hurt-me-chatty LibDems doing decently, and then Labour doing ok, and then that's it. Two parties on the right are on 20%+, the left is Labour and then the minor left-wing parties (not shitting on you guys either, you do try and its a time+membership thing), and the libdems, I don't know which they side they count as, but they seem to be on a rightward bend. Now, this is a pretty unique view, the rest of Labour doesn't think like this, and I'm not sure if there are solutions or who is responsible/needs to work on this (probably the left itself, but I genuinely don't think any of the big people on the left are doing anything wrong), but its a problem. Literally just because, in order for this to be actually entertaining and for activity to work, you need an opposing force. A game like MHOC is inherently structured kinda like capitalism, around competition. No competition means a monopoly, and in most cases, that means market failures and less fun for everyone. The right needs to lose every once in a while for it to be meaningful. A competitionless sim is possible, but I don't think MHOC could work as one. So, this is important, because without a competitive left I think all is lost. IDK what to do about this, it's just food for thought.
This is a bit of a virtue signal, but two things need to happen I think for this to work as a community. Everyone seriously needs to take
My friend is casually a very big egotist, or maybe I say casual because heβs my friend. Heβs a very stereotypical kind of character which supports his egotism, heβs a film snob hipster. Now I really like the guy but heβs getting exhausting, any opinion that isnβt his own isnβt normally supported and itβs impossible to get a point to him. If you have an opinion to say, he canβt let it be the last said and has to give the βyeah, but...β response. He is very hard to convince and anytime I try to double down on a point or an idea I have, it quickly starts running towards a big argument and I let him win and shrug it off. Heβs also big on regurgitation, if I quietly him one of my ideas, the first thing he does is tell everyone else and let them assume it was his idea (the most infuriating feature). It shows all the way down to trivial things, like we canβt quit playing the game until heβs won then itβs ok to quit. In his words, He noticed I was drunk tonight because I started voicing my opinions a lot, instead of normally responding to everything with βyeahβ and being very quiet.
Now that the venting is out (I apologize), what I want advice on is how do I salvage a relationship with a person like this? All other posts Iβve read say that relationships with egotists normally only end in the individual despising you because you wonβt conform to their view or always being the subordinate in the relationship. Iβm the idiot who really likes this guy and decided to make a film with him and I know that any creative idea I may have will be trampled and this will eventually turn into his project that Iβm helping on when it originally started in the reverse order. I really want to salvage the relationship and he has told me he values my creative capability and respects me as having good taste and ideas but I just canβt break through to the guy and Iβm tired of being trampled on, any advice?
