A list of puns related to "Weighted Vests For Children"
I want to buy a weighted vest for bodyweight training because I need to spend my money quick as the inflation is really high in my country now and it's increasing. I'm thinking that some time in my life I'm gonna buy a weight vest anyway eventually so might as well buy it when the prices are cheaper.
I was astounded when I saw how light most vests are. I'm 67kg and I can do about 12 dips, for example. I put about ~10kg of weight in a backpack and I did 8 dips. This is still out of the strength range and into the hypertrophy range and I want to also do sets in the 1-5 reps range in most movements and I will also get stronger and stronger in the future. Yet articles say that vests should not exceed 10% of your weight??? (6 kg in my case?)
And then you have movements like push-ups. I can do 33 normal pushups. I don't even know how much weight I'd need to put on so that my max pushup would become 5, and that's only now. Sure, you can progress horizontal push easier without weight but maybe you want to do something that stimulates the chest more without putting the load more on the shoulders (PPPUs) or triceps (diamonds) or without making it unilateral (archer/one-arm) or maybe I will simply like the movement more in the future because of its simplicity.
Am I overthinking this or underestimating how hard exercises get once you add more and more weight? I can't find a vest more than 30kg in my country that's not incredibly expensive and even those are hard to find.
The vest weighs 20 pounds, but is adjustable.
Hope everyone's having a great day!
I'm a 20 year old blue belt with almost 3 years of training. I'm currently waiting on my start date as a police officer in the UK (where police don't routinely carry firearms) and I am looking to take my training further by buying a 10kg weighted vest and attempting to roll or atleast do wrestling rounds, to get myself comfortable for the day I have to utilise my training on duty.
My question is really, is there anyone who would recommend this kind of training? How often? Are there downsides? Is it good for conditioning and for your bjj/wrestling strength in general?
Thanks and happy rolling!
I've been searching for a while and no matter what combination of search terms I use, none of the results I get would work for me. All I want is a vest that comes in my size that can have up to 5-ish pounds put in. Any help looking for something like that would be appreciated.
Iβm planning on getting a weighted vest to help with my push-ups which are lacking at the moment and Iβve read on here that a vest helps a lot. What weight did you guys who used a vest use and what would you recommend ? Iβm 66kg so I was thinking a 10kg one
The consensus on this sub-reddit is that dip belts are better than weight belts. I also agree that dip belts are superior but I donβt have the money for weights + I think the vest will be more useful for me based on my current situation and later down the line the combination with a dip belt would drastically help (when I reach those levels)
Also, I can increase intensity of workouts with an adjustable weighted vest by adding weight based on workout over time
My real question is, if I do invest in a vest, whatβs the highest weight I should be looking for and why? I feel like 10lbs is too small but is 150 too overkill? I still intend on getting a dip belt as well
Sorry if this is a dumb question
Wondering if any good ideas for how to adjust cardio / walking activities to account for a 10kg weighted vest (specifically looking at calorie burn)?
Cheers
To the female crossfitters, what is your recommended weight vest brand thats comfortable on your chest?
Also, what is the vest weight requirement for females?
I'm planning to ruck/hike with weighted vest on routes around singapore. I have yet to own my a private vehicle, so i can only do a daily commute via public transport. So far I've only taken the bus and only one guy moved his seat from nearby me, to the back during a trip with me and my friends
I do FitXR everyday for 20 minutes with resistance bands, then cooldown with Synth Riders without resistance bands. Both titles I consider fitness since it lets you move a lot. Now that RE4VR is tomorrow, I'm thinking of playing it as my cooldown hot off FitXR.
I'm just wondering if anyone out there is using weighted vests on non-fitness games like Onward, Pavlov, TWDS&S, etc.
I think I'm seeing faster progress with weighted vest.
I have tightness in my right pelvic side, inner thigh (almost gone), knee (gone), calves (almost gone). I got this way from sitting down all day, and when I would go out I only rode bike with heavy backpack with an awful standard bike saddle for long hours. Top it off, I was severely stressed (Social Anxiety outside)
I LITERALLY NEVER WALKED ANYWHERE and sat down all day. This I think is a big hint because what happens when you sit for long? Certain muscles become weak, and with heavy biking, other muscles became overtaxed, especially my right side since that is my dominate side when biking.
I started implementing weighted vest (15lb for now), and walking in my home for 1 hour here, 1 hour there, then short 30 min walks every 1 hour. Almost everytime I sit back down, I feel little spasms in my butt (pelvic?). I used to feel these when I would go out at night for walks for 2 hours but eventually stopped.
Having had this condition for almost 2 years now, I'm so confident that these short spasm are the muscles loosening up!
From what I'm seeing, walking strengthens all you leg and butt muscles, but I don't think it's enough we need weight to it but not to much to tighten the muscles that are tight but not to little that all we'd be doing is stretching the leg (I think)
If you got tight muscles in your pelvic in a similar way to me, especially from sitting down sooo much, try this now for 1 hour, then sit down or lay down and if you feel any muscle twitch/spasm report back here so others can know. I got a weird ass spasm/twitch around here number 7,8 in the lower middle side, right leg yesterday after a 1 hour walk. I'm taking that as a sign that that part needs working.
I think people should also consider that driving, using the leg that uses the peddle tightens legs and pelvic (the peddle side). I've experimented with this but not 100 percent sure. I can't find any info on this though.
Hello,
I am considering getting a weighted vest for a while now, since I am not interested in building skills by performing more complex moves and I only care about health, aesthetics and strength. I have been training in calisthenics for a few months in a disciplined manner (3 times a week, decent quality training programme, decent quality diet), and a couple years in an undisciplined one (low quality training programmes, weeks and occasionally months of not training due to low morale, low quality diet).
I believe that a weighted vest will offer more gains in all aspects, and will achieve it in less time than pure bodyweight exercise, however I want to be sure I am making the right choice and that it is worth it before acquiring one, since they are costly.
In case it matters, my level as of now is something like this: Can perform 30 consecutive push ups with good form, can perform 50 consecutive squats with good form, can perform 10 consecutive neutral grip pull ups with good form, can perform 100 consecutive sit ups with good form.
So my questions are:
β’ Good/best time to start using one? (Right from the beginning vs after you've gotten a level of familiarity with calisthenics).
β’ How many kilograms should one start with? How many if someone is a beginner, how many if someone is already a calisthenics athlete who wants to advance his level?
β’ Your personal experiences and choices with weighted calisthenics. Any information is useful.
Thanks in advance.
(In case you're wondering, "Why the fuck is this post so verbose? He could've described it faster...", Here's the answer: There is an auto-moderator bot in this subreddit, which unless you write a well-constructed essay, will remove your post for so-called "Lack of effort".)
My trainer recommended getting a weighted vest for my dog since he has so much energy. I walk him multiple times a day for at least a couple of miles a day (longer on weekends) plus he goes to dog daycare one work day a week so he can get his exercise. But this dog is happy to walk miles and miles and miles (he was a stray) and not stop. I'd like to make sure he's getting exercised plenty. The only time I've managed to wear him out is when we went on a 4 mile hike in the canyon in 80 degree heat. He jumped and climbed and rolled in the creek and actually took a nap afterwards.
He is a yellow Labrador mix around 70 pounds
Edit: My vet recommended 10 lbs
I own a 12-pounds vest and used to weigh about 62 kilos about 2-4 months ago. I put on the vest and ofcourse noticed my overall mobility and endurance had reduced. I thought to myself if 12 pounds has this kind of an effect, I wonder how light I'd feel after losing 12 pounds; like taking off one of those 12-pound vests.
I dropped down to 56 kilos pretty naturally as it was the summer season and activity levels were higher than usual. Did very little physical exercise other than going to the a charity I volunteer at; probably less than average for people under 50.
Edit: I will say I did improve my diet (more herbs/vegetables/meat, less bread/rice/pop-drinks) and that probably also aided with the weight-loss along with the natural increase in physical activity, and heat, that summer brings. But this is somewhat aside from the point.
I felt way lighter and more mobile. I'm 5'7 also. It was good. Ok.
Just wanting to get some reviews on it. Im hoping it goes back in stock soon
Iβm wanting to wear a weighted vest in public but the ones I see look like Iβm up do no good they all look like a bomb or bulletproof vest.
I'm looking at buying a weighted vest to mix up my work outs...any recommended ones?? I live in England so one that's manufactored one England would be nice. I'm about 115kg so would have to be pretty big/adjustable and would like if it was 15/20kg in weight. Thanks
Like many of you, I have been working out from home for months now I have been enjoying calisthenics and how much I can do body weight wise, actually have not lost any gains
What I am wondering is purchasing an adjustable weighted vest I've been using a backpack with weights but it very cumbersome Some have told my not to because it could lead to back injury This so specifically for pullups, pushups, etc Trying to recreate those heavy load days like with free weights
Has anyone else had experience using vests in this capacity?
Since I live in Asia, I don't really have access to copies of recent researches/journals of specials topics, can anybody send me copies of evidence-based research they've comr across recently? Pls?
Hey all! So, I'm a huge fan of my weighted vest. That said, my family is planning a trip that will require a lot of walking, and in situations where I'm on a long walk I do enjoy wearing the vest just to get my heart rate up slightly and build a little muscle. I never overdo it and do know when to take it off, but I am used to it and enjoy it. However, in situations like that, I wear the vest under a coat or jacket, and our trip will take place when it will just begin to warm up to where I likely won't need a coat or jacket.
Does anyone know of any clothing that could emulate a weighted vest without looking too obvious? Is there such a thing as clothing with weights sewn in? Any thoughts?
Thanks!
Hi,
Iβve been using a weighted vest for a while but I find that it is most challenging on my traps. Iβd like to use more weight but my traps are the limiting factor. I find I can use about 25-30 pounds without much difficulty but when I get up to 40-50 it just becomes painful in my traps which takes away from how much distance I can do.
Since rucks can have hip straps Iβd imagine this should help. Is that right? Or do I just need to continue training my traps.
Hello,
I am looking for some advice on buying a weighted vest to add to my workout. I think I have reached the point in my training where I need to add increased resistance to my basic pulling and pushing exercises.
I know that, as a whole, this subreddit is not a big fan of weighted vests and tends to recommend dip belts/plates; however, for those who have experience with vests in the past I would love recommendations.
I have narrowed my preferences down to something that is of high-quality and either short, or slim to allow for as much ROM as possible.
Price is not a major factor as I am excited to make this purchase and view it as something that I will ultimately get plenty of utility from.
My reasons for preferring a vest are as follows:
The weighted vest allows one to add weight to a greater number of movements than just pullups + dips, which will be useful in the long-term
I work out at a park and it is much easier to transport a vest than a dip belt + multiple plates
I do not own any barbells/plates to begin with and buying high-quality plates is not materially cheaper than buying a high-quality weighted vest (which is often cited as one of the main reasons to avoid vests)
What I am struggling with is selecting my weighted vest. I have effectively narrowed it down to three options, but am also open to any other suggestions:
a. Pros: Seems to be extremely good quality, allows for high mobility with minimal restriction, adjustable weight increments
b. Cons: Only goes up to 20lbs
a. Pros: Good quality, narrow profile for a vest of its size, adjustable weight increments
b. Cons: (basketball weight vest model goes up to 40 lbs β far more than I need right now, but 5-10lbs less than other βshort vest modelsβ), not quite as βlow profileβ as the Hyperwear, a bit more difficult to adjust fit while on
a. Pros: Good quality, goes up to 45-50lbs (among the best for a short weight vest
... keep reading on reddit β‘I recently quit weight training in favour of calisthenics as I found calisthenics to be far more responsive for me in terms of hypertrophy (I still don't exactly understand why this is).
Thing is, I want to get a weighted vest because my strength is progressing quickly and the work is becoming too easy now. I would like to find a vest with a max load capacity of at least 30KG to give ample room for progressive overload.
I got one of these high capacity weighted vests in the past but it tore at the seams and I had to send it back to the seller. So does anyone have any they can recommend? If size is a factor in recommendations, I am 6'0 and 176 lbs.
Thanks very much in advance.
Hey everyone, IΒ΄ve been doing bodyweight training for around 8 months now. I recently got a weighted vest and IΒ΄d like to use it to progress on my journey. From what I read online, the idea is to either use it to get out of a slump (not seeing progress for a bit) or when youΒ΄ve already hit a desired max rep and want to take it further. For example, if IΒ΄m looking to do 6 to 8 reps of an exercise and I manage to do 8 reps for multiple workouts (I was thinking 3 to 5), I would add 4 kg with the vest and continue until I can do 8 reps again, then add more weight and so on. The same thing if IΒ΄m trying to do 6-8 reps but have been stuck in 6 reps for multiple workouts (again, I was thinking 3 to 5), though IΒ΄m not sure if I should stop after using the vest for a bit and see if I can manage more reps than before. If someone could let me know if this is fine or whether I should go about it differently, IΒ΄d appreciate it. Do you have any other tips youΒ΄d like to share? Thanks in advance!
Well I, the superior chad, carry a tungsten cube in my bag for maximum feel-good weight /j
