EQ fix for KZ Zex Pro CRN (Wavelet Import)

I can't seem to find this anywhere so I just converted the Equalizer Apo EQ preset to format accepted in Wavelet.

Just copy-paste this in a notepad and save it as ".txt" import to Wavelet, or you can directly download it via the highlighted text.

My Galaxy Buds + EQ Settings via Wavelet AutoEQ and Poweramp EQ

For a while, I've been working on EQing the buds + since they're my main TWS.

EQ Settings for Galaxy Buds Pro

I'm not going to make a separate post about them because they're mostly just a change in tonal preference. The stock tuning is already good. If you happen to come across this and want to try them out, you can get the settings here.

I use the "Normal" EQ settings in the wearables app with the large stock tips. I also like to use the bass tuner in Wavelet--just using the transient compressor without adding a shelf (since I already have it in the AutoEq settings). All other EQ settings are turned off.

If you want to try them out, all you need to do is save the file into your Google drive, go into the AutoEq section within Wavelet, go into "Headphone model," and go into "Import." The recommended preamp is -1.4 dB (you can implement it in "Channel balance" within Wavelet) which is mainly to control the bass boost.

For Poweramp, you can import the EQ within the settings menu in the app.

Yes, there are large EQ peaks that go beyond the preamp, but since we can't use an amp with TWS, I didn't want to sacrifice the overall volume. For me, I haven't experienced any clipping beside one 5-second section from a Dua Lipa song lol.

I EQ'd them from a combination of adhering to my ideal frequency response, listening to music, and sine sweeps. If you're interested in doing the same (either your preference is different from mine or you want to EQ a different set of headphones/IEMs/TWS), you can look into these links which I found very useful:

Looking for users Jabra 85ts (and preferably Wavelet) BUT ALSO advice on adjusting EQs in general

So while I am interested in the "science" behind EQs and uses in my own music production, I'm having a lot of trouble setting various equipment right. One specific example being my 85ts which in Wavelet the autoEQ function just sounds completely wrong and even if I manage to get the curve -okay- (and then fiddle and make it worse with any genre change) I have no idea where things like virtualization and other settings ideally should be set.

Regarding the EQ part, I've read enough articles that basically just all say "don't touch it ever" or "always lower db instead of raising complimentary frequencies" and never found much use here. I could also ramble about prod but would rather keep this about head(ear)phones

Any advice that isn't "it's all preference do what you want :)"/selling the earphones is appreciated. Also my bad if this is the wrong place.

Topic Request - Wavelet Transform

Dear 3B1B, dear 3B1B Community,

the video about the Fourier Transform was mindblowing and pushed my understanding of it way forward. Now I am trying to achieve the same level of understanding the Wavelet Transformation. It seems to work kind of similar from an engineer's perspective. Is there any excellent explanation like 3B1B's Fourier Transform Video treating the Wavelet Transformation to build a fundamental understanding of this topic and for the mechanisms behind?

Kindly regards, B.

Wavelet transform coefficients different in MATLAB and Python. Why?

Hey everyone,

happy new year!

I did a 1-level 2d-wavelet transform using Haar wavelets on a grayscale image. I used MATLAB and pywavelets and compared both results for the vertical details.

The coefficients differ between both implementations.

Can someone explain why this is the case or point me in the right direction?

Thanks!

Stock EQ sounds worse than wavelet?

Just got a pair of Bose CQ 35 II and wanted more of a U shaped EQ. First I tried Wavelet because it is much more user friendly than the stock EQ that can be found in settings. I was very happy and thought that I can just disable Wavelet and put the same settings in the stock EQ. The result was noticeable worse. It seems that setting the stock EQ to anything other than flat makes the whole sound stage go away and all instruments are muddled together.

Had similar experience with Galaxy Buds Live. The built in presets in the Wear app sounds much better than the stock EQ.

Magnitude of wavelet transform

Hi all,

I was wondering if somebody could explain why the magnitude of the wavelet transform for high-frequency signals are lower than that of low frequency signals, as shown on this scalogram:

https://preview.redd.it/lfi1fw72p7z71.png?width=919&format=png&auto=webp&s=0b5f54c731508f9f71900d0c803dc3c9c5d49b1e

This signal in question is a sum of two sinusoids with different frequencies, but the same amplitude. Interestingly, when the high-amplitude sinusoid is decreased, the magnitude of the CWT increases, as shown here:

https://preview.redd.it/45ysw8qcp7z71.png?width=886&format=png&auto=webp&s=b44ccfb61dd906d4c9f3eba2d54a8a5c17c886e4

Is there some inverse relationship between signal amplitude and the corresponding CWT magnitude? If so, how can I rectify this issue on the scalogram to give them the same magnitude (color)?

For reference, I am using the scaleogram module.

Thanks a lot!

Wavelet EQ on Android for Hifiman DEVA (Bluemini)

Hi folks!

I've recently purchased Hifiman Deva (that I love immensely) and currently trying to apply Oratory's EQ profile (Bluemini - BT version) on my Android phone. I use Wavelet and the converted EQ profile from this post: https://www.reddit.com/r/Android/comments/ml4nvg/i_converted_every_oratory1990_headphone_eq_preset/

This is what I see in Wavelet:

https://imgur.com/a/FIgkWm0 - There is a 10db peak in the low frequencies. When I open the original, non-converted EQ profile for the Bluemini-BT, there's no such peak. Applying the profile in Wavelet causes audible distortion.

Has anyone else tried applying this EQ on their Android based system?

Also, is there any other way to use a parametric EQ on my phone? I'm using Spotify and afaik it does not support USB Audio Player Pro. I don't mind paying some $$$ for a decent app that allows me to use system-wide parametric stuff.

Picking an appropriate wavelet scale

Hey all,

I recently began working on some EM signal analysis, and wanted to use wavelets for de-noising and feature extraction. I created a spectrogram over multiple scales of a particular wavelet, but I'm having a hard time deciding which scale I should use. Is there a heuristic for picking an appropriate scale? So far, I've only seen guidelines for picking the right wavelet family. For reference, here's my spectrogram:

i am currently using a Gaussian wavelet, but I will likely change that as well.
