A list of puns related to "Vestibulo Ocular Reflex"
As the title. I know how caloric reflexes are relatively simple to elicit in this population, but supposing you had to do so in an intubated person, is it possible to do the dolls eye manoeuvre without disconnecting the ETT?
Can someone please explain the gist of the vestibulo-ocular reflex and vestibular-evoked nystagmus? Are these the same thing? What aspects of this are most relevant learn for Step 1?
I haven't encountered any resources that explain these phenomena very clearly... Most just touch upon them vaguely & briefly in a way that hasn't allowed me to make clear sense of it aside from the fact that I think it has to do with your eyes successfully remaining fixated on an object during head movement...
Thank you so much for your help!!
In real life if you hit a bump on the road, you're able to partially compensate for it by using your vestibulo ocular reflex, demonstrated with a chicken in this video.
Obviously, we're not perfect, and probably not as good as a chicken, and obviously we should not have perfect steady aim in a moving vehicle. However, I strongly think that in real life we would all be able to aim better than our characters in PUBG when we/they ride along a bumpy road. I think it would be nice if when you use sights in a vehicle if it activated you to be more steady (within a threshold of tolerance) while riding in a vehicle. It would be nice to be able to actually get a kill from a moving vehicle, but the way PUBG handles a person in the vehicle it's insanely difficult unless you are moving slowly and on level ground.
Specifically, when trying to read something while the page is moving horizontally in comparison to your head/eyes moving and the page remaining stationary.
A camera uses micro accelerometers to detect motion and small servos to move lens elements or the sensor.
The human eye uses acceleration data from the inner ear to tell the eyes exactly how to counteract vibration.
The body is amazing!

not sure if this has been discussed before, but i wanted to talk about the floor at the ocular and how it represents the shards and the source. i'm not quite as lore savvy either so if ppl have knowledge on these shards or theories and whatnot, i'd love to hear it!
i did a rough text of it all, but let me know your thoughts! :D esp in regards to where the future expansions could take us and about the other shards.

I was prescribed doxycycline 40mg and I was on that for 3 months. I went to an ophthalmologist and he stated that 40mg was probably not strong enough so my doctor upped the dose to 100mg and now I have no flare ups and I feel like I got my life back!!! My eyes would flare up every week and last a few days and people would ask me what was wrong with me. I would avoid going to work on days where my eyes were terrible, I would not go to social events with friends. I missed out on a lot the past few years. I hope it works forever, itβs nice not having to hide because of my eyes!
Anyone else get floating squiggly vision from time to time? It happens to me every 3 to 5 months. Lasts about 5 to 10nminutes and from the last two episodes goes away quickly if I drink a couple glasses of water. Just curious if anyone has info about this. Thanks I'm a bit anxious bc of this

Can ocular migraine be linked with AS? My doc told me it was normal to have those since Iβm a women in my thirties
Hi there,
I am looking to invest into one or more oculars and would like to ask you all for your opinion on what I should get. I also am a bit confused about some of the equipment I have, how to use it, and what to look out for so I buy oculars that "work" with my telescope.
I'm mostly a beginner with a few evenings of experience. I got a Celestron Powerseeker 114EQ (f/ 900mm) in summer as a birthday gift. The scope came with a 20mm ocular, a 4mm ocular, and a 3x Barlow lens, all 1.25" (see images and questions below).
With this telescope, I caught the astronomy bug, and can now find my way around the beginner level stuff. I know how to set up and align the equatorial mount, how to collimate the scope and the finders, how to find my way around the heavens using the Stellarium app, and have had fun looking at the moon, Jupiter & moons, Saturn, Orion nebula, Pleiades. I watched a lot of youtube videos on techniques and equipment, upgraded the scope with an open "laser" finder and replaced the shitty plastic finder with a better one. I think I have the beginner level stuff down, mostly. At least as far as I am aware. Unknown unknowns are as of yet unknown.
Now I want to upgrade my oculars. I would like to look at more star clusters, more bright nebulae (light pollution is an issue), and basically be able to do all that a 114 mm scope on a cheap aluminum tripod is capable of, before moving on to a better telescope. Right now I feel like the oculars are the one thing holding me back the most. (It used to be the shitty finder scope but that was replaced)
Here's the thing... before I buy new stuff, I'd like to understand what the stuff I have is good for.
I did read Gregrox' guide, and I think I understood the formulas and general ideas, but having read it I still have no idea what type my oculars actually are, or what I should replace them with.
1) Questions about the 20mm ocular and the moon filter
I know how to use the 20mm ocular, I use it all the time. It may be cheap but it was good enough to start with. But two things bug me:
1.A/ The 20mm ocular is an erecting ocular. I really love having an upright picture. Is this a reasonable thing to like? As in, must an astronomer at some point "move on" and get used to upside down images? The new finder scope I bought is also erecting and gives an upright image.
1.B/ I don't know why I can't affix the moon filter I bought to the ocular. Well, superficially I know - the ocular has thread on the rear
... keep reading on reddit β‘Amatripaline which is a vasoconstrictor and anti-depressant. During the time I took the medication my migraine aura got worse and I couldnβt see for two hours from my left eye it was like someone smeared Vaseline over my eye. My muscles went weak and I felt like I was gonna black out which doesnβt happen often. I asked my neurologist why he put me on a vasoconstrictor when aura especially ocular or retinal aura is caused by vasoconstriction ( which is a complete contraindication due to stroke risk caused by vasoconstriction) he straight up told me Iβm to knowledgeable about health for him to treat me that as a neurologist I made him feel attacked.. am I wrong for telling him how I felt? Should I not share my concern for my health that became worse on said medication? Needles to say Iβm trying topiramate and heβs giving me a new dr..

Do we have any evidence of these? We have the Anglo Saxon cheek plate helms but I havent seen any with ocular like the Gjermundbu.
I've been doing a lot of self discovery and realized I may be on the spectrum. I'm on reddit very consistently on the r/autism and r/aspergers subreddits but don't hear many mentions of Nystagmus. I'm curious if any of you have it.
I'd rather they don't be sharingan eye quirks but other than that I don't care what the story is like except for if it has izuku with an ocular quirk of any kind
I have watched only the anime and saw Jigen becoming small using Isshikiβs ocular jutsu. Now, as we know, Isshiki was inside Jigen, but managed to make Jigenβs body smaller, but how? As far as I know, it cannot make people smaller except himself. Am I missing something?
Iβve been having some indigestion and heartburn lately. I play flag football once a week and about an hour after my last 3 games Iβve gotten scintillating scotoma (ocular migraine). Lasts about 30 min then goes away. Spoke to multiple doctors and got brain scan all negative results.
I think I only saw 2 ocular albinism so far and Iβve noticed they usually have nystagmus along with other things like light sensitivity and different eye pigment colors, but how exactly does albinism causes nystagmus? I thought it all had to do with pigmentation of the eye
Hello everyone! Before I start lemme say thank you for whatever yβall got for me. I was recently diagnosed by an ophthalmologist. I havenβt started the doxycycline ad a preventative yet. I have had two MASSIVE styes that still are hanging around. That surgery is noooottt my cup of tea. Iβve been using my Bruder Moist Compress twice daily, then massaging and using either baby shampoo or Ocusoft wipes afterwards.
Iβve always had darkness under my eyes. Recently the corner of my eyes have become darker and a very uncomfortable sensation has developed. It feels almost like paper cuts coming out the sides of my eyes. Any ideas what the heck it could be? Oh and whatever tips in general yβall got would be most welcome. Thank you!
Can anyone recommend a good reference book on how to perform ocular ultrasound?
Why do I sometimes get squiggly vision/ eye floaters? It happens to me every 3 to 5 months. Lasts about 5 to 10 minutes and from the last two episodes goes away quickly if I drink a couple glasses of water. Just curious if anyone has info about this. Thanks
