The coronavirus has prompted almost two-thirds of American believers of all faiths to feel that God is telling humanity to change how it lives, a new poll finds.
While the virus rattles the globe, causing economic hardship for millions and killing more than 80,000 Americans, the findings of the poll by the University of Chicago Divinity School and The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research indicate that people may also be searching for deeper meaning in the devastating outbreak. Note: Because of the length of the press conference and because I believe the nuance in Cheveldayoff and Chipman's statements would be diminished by slicing this into a dozen small tweets, I created a comprehensive summary of Cheveldayoff and Chipman's press conference for those who were unable to watch.
Please let me know if there is any more information to add or mistakes by sending me a PM.
Chipman begins by calling the past week "horrific" for Kyle Beach and all victims of sexual assault. He says he cannot presume to begin to understand what Kyle Beach has been through, but says he's seen the impact of sexual abuse in people very close to him. He cites statistics about sexual assault.
Chipman says:
>I need Kyle to know how very, very sorry I am and how much I admire his courage.
He says he's watched with a sense of helplessness in the pain and devastation. Chipman got emotional, says he admires Beach's courage.
He says:
>I commit to you today that I will use my influence within the National Hockey League to acknowledge that there are systemic problems that require systemic solutions.
Chipman says Cheveldayoff was pulled into a single meeting, was told some details about sexual misconduct, and had limited contact. Chipman said if he had known, the Cheveldayoff he knows would have taken action.
Cheveldayoff begins by apologizing to Kyle Beach:
>I want to begin my stating how sorry I am that this happened to Kyle. [...] I am sorry about my own assumptions about that system were not good enough.
Cheveldayoff says it was not until this year that he became aware that Beach was sexually assaulted. He left May 23, 2010 meeting thinking it would be addressed by those above him, and figured it was solved when Aldrich left the club three weeks later.
Cheveldayoff says:
>[I am](https://twitter.com/ScottBilleck/status/145564394285946
... keep reading on reddit โกIโve seen that 3 University of Chicago students (undergrad I believe) have been murdered this year. Does this concern anyone? Would it lead you to choose Kellogg because of more suburb location and both are M7s? Will this hurt app numbers?
