Why aren't two-stroke diesel engines more popular? They are mechanically simpler and have more power to weight ratio than their four-stroke counterparts.
I know diesel engines in the USA aren't popular to begin with, but what about in Europe?

Difference between two-stroke and four-stroke engines on motorcycles?
I don't own a bike, but i plan to in the near future.
Currently I'm doing research about everything motorcycle related, but I can't find anything about the difference between two-stroke and four-stroke engines on motorcycles.
Which one would be "better" for beginners, or easier to maintain?

Are Taotaos 49cc engines four stroke or two stroke? Are the transmission single chain or dual chain?
Just wanting to learn more about the basic engineering behind my new scooter. I'm also curious of how the kickstart works...I saw here that the kickstart is attached to the input shaft but are there any animated diagrams of how this works exactly? Thanks

ELI5: Engines. Two stroke, four stroke, cylinders, etc.
Everyone is always asking me. When I ride or drive something with an engine. "Is that a two stroke or four stroke?" "How many cylinders?" I've never been able to answer this confidently. Can anyone simplify this for me? Thanks.

I finished attaching the common four stroke engine kit to my bike. When I lift the back tire off the ground and pull the throttle the back tire spins pretty fast but if I sit down on it the bike barely wants to move. I believe it is my clutch. Can anyone tell me what to do about this? Replace whole?

More power with less: Apple's A13 Fusion is faster and more power efficient. (Two performance cores consume 30% less power, the four efficiency cores save 40%, the four GPU cores also save 40%, and the eight Neural Engine cores are 15% more power efficient)

ELI5 How a four-stroke engine lubricates when the piston is stroking upwards?
In two-stroke engines there is oil everywhere, and I get that there is lubricant when the piston goes down. But how does it lubricate on the way up whilst always staying below the piston?

Four wheelers, dirt bikes, and bolted on two strokes
I've lived in a few different states and different kinds of cities but no where else have I seen the number of recreational vehicles there are here. Just today I was walking on the river path by Seneca Zoo and got passed by someone on an ATV who then crossed the pedestrian bridge. Minutes later, I saw 3 people on modified mountain bikes driving down the road. Not to mention the dirt bikes and other four wheelers I see tearing down Hudson Ave on my commutes.
Is this just a uniquely Rochester thing?

Why are diesel two-stroke engines not used in trucks and cars?
My understanding is that a two-stroke diesel provides much higher power per displacement than a four-stroke engine, without the many problems of a two-stroke gasoline engine, at the cost of requiring forced induction. Sounds very useful. I'm curious as to why these engines only seem to be used in very large-scale applications like ships and locomotives. Is it just not practical to scale them down to the size of a car? And in that case, why is that so and why do four-stroke diesels not have the same problems?

Were there any best years which are superior to other motors in terms of older two stroke outboard engine production? Dirtbikes had good years and bad years, I'm assuming boats were similar?
I'm in the market looking for older used two stroke outboards, preferably an Evinrude 25, 30, 40, or 50. I'd like to have a couple of engines around, mainly because I need one in Hurricane-escape working order before digging into the carb on my main engine. I like a lot of the early Evinrude models, the Norseman looks nice (74 I think?) but it's difficult to know which years were the best, only an older mechanic would really know. So, I have to ask this subreddit the question, because I feel like it has a good chance of being exposed to such valuable knowledge.
