Tilburg Puns

Heb binnenkort iets te vieren en daarom zou ik met de familie uit eten willen gaan(wanneer het weer mag). Wat is in jullie mening het beste Aziatische restaurant in Tilburg? Zelf had ik mijn oog op Enjoii omdat ik daar prima besteld had, maar de recensies zijn niet erg goed. Ook leek Jade mij wel interessant, maar daar heb ik totaal geen ervaring mee. Liefste iets met meer keuze dan Sushi want daar houd niet de hele familie van.

Hi everyone, I am currently submitting my applications for the fall semester for masters programs. I have a question about how Tilburg U is generally perceived? I know that they dropped the word Catholic from their name, but is it still a heavy influence in the program delivery?

I am not Catholic or particularly religious and hope to attain an unbiased and objective education. Do you find Tilburg would be able to deliver that? This specifically pertains to the Management of Cultural Diversity Masters.

TL;DR even though Tilburg’s Global Law might not be ‘the best’ (and quite frankly sometimes extremely annoying & disappointing) there are good things too.

(Obviously a throwaway account)

When students register for the Global Law programme, they are warned that it is a ‘challenging’ and ‘difficult’ programme that demands a lot from students, and, to a certain extent, that is true. However that is not for the reasons prospective students would think. Even though the university and the programme have good coordination, the same cannot be said about the professors; In almost 6 out of the 12 assignments for ‘Introduction to Global Law’ that we had to submit, the professors had a different opinion on the correct answer. In some even, we were told we have had to “guess” the correct answer because it was not something we had been taught. We were also told there wasn’t a word limit, only for that statement to be retracted the very next week, with punishment of 0.5 points if we exceeded the word limit. Further, in one assignment, we had to apply the facts given to the second question to answer the first. Not very logical, is it? Moving on from Introduction to Global Law, let's visit another one of my favourite subjects: History of International Law. Even though we are given a rubric for the evaluation, some professors do not really seem to care about it. Let me give you an example, one of the criteria states that “[the answer] demonstrates an advanced understanding of the substance of the assignment which goes beyond the pre-assigned readings,” yet, to my surprise, people who used information from other academic (peer-reviewed) sources were penalized. At some point, therefore, it becomes quite clear and exhausting that professors deduce points from factors unrelated to the rubric criteria. Regarding examinations, the situation is, perhaps, slightly better. Nevertheless, as it should be obvious by now, we still have questions that are unrelated to the subjects we have been taught, or simply construed in such a way that they do not make sense based on the materials we were given.

What I have discovered to be the case, is that Tilburg only cares about promoting a fake idea of a ‘challenging’ and multidisciplinary programme, which simply couldn’t be further from the truth; what makes a course challenging is questions and concepts which make students think critically, not questions which are specifically made for students to be unable to answer.

Na het vertrek van de speler waar we afspraken en dat onze DM momenteel te druk is om verder te DM'en zoeken wij nog spelers en of een DM. Daarnaast zou het top zijn als je een locatie hebt waar we kunnen afspreken en kunnen spelen.

Onze groep bestaat momenteel uit 4 gasten van 21 tot 28 en zoeken ook spelers van ongeveer de zelfde leeftijd. We willen graag IRL spelen maar zolang dat niet kan willen we online verder gaan. Als we geen DM kunnen vinden is een van de huidige spelers bereid de DM rol over te nemen, maar is liever speler.

Wij zijn een groep die al meer dan 20 jaar (A)D&D en Pathfinder speelt. Door veranderende prive-levens (werk, relaties en kinderen) is de samenstelling het afgelopen jaar nogal wisselend geweest, met enkele spelers/DM’s als kern. We willen weer een stabiele groep zijn die écht plezier beleefd aan Roleplayen.

Wat bieden we :

• Een ontspannen groep van ervaren spelers, die plezier beleefd aan roleplayen en de PF/3.5 regels losjes hanteert
• Ofwel, D&D 5E speelstijl, maar met de lol van meer mechanische mogelijkheden.
• 2 ervaren DM/GM’s die zowel Golarion modules leiden als homebrew settings maken
• Een goede organisatie : we spelen i.h.a. eens per maand op zaterdag (zondag als uitwijk)

Wat vragen we :

• Iemand die plezier heeft in character-backgrounds en roleplayen
• Iemand die plezier beleefd aan langjarige campaigns met jou 1-2 favoriete PC’s
• Sociaal, gezelligheid en humor: we doen dit voor ons plezier
• Iemand met een auto: onze speellokaties rouleren tussen regio Tilburg en Den Bosch, maar soms ook Utrecht. Meerijden is overigens geen probleem.
• Een speler vanaf 25 jaar en Nederlandstalig.
• Open communicatie: iedereen is druk met werk en privé, dus we houden rekening met elkaar

Wat we niet zoeken :

• Rules lawyers
• Min-Maxers & munchkins
• Combat versus storytelling
• Weinig rekening houden met anderen

Hello everyone. What interesting places I can visit by bike in Tilburg?

Hello! I'm applying to a few Dutch universities one of which is Tilburg University. A very generous relative of mine who lives in Den Haag has offered to put me up in their house until I find housing, in case I don't find anything by the time my master's starts in September. If it comes to that, do you think that's a reasonable commute? According to Google maps, it takes about 1 hour and 20 mins to get to the university itself. I know the housing crisis is really bad, so I'm considering all my options.
