A list of puns related to "Thymectomy"
Long short story, this year has been the worst for my health so far. I was on ICU on February due to septic shock and major organ failure. It was a short stay, I was there for only two week and fully recovered, or so we thought. One I got out of the hospital we noticed some muscular weakness but didn't looked into it cause we thought it was post ICU. Fast forward to April and I still have muscular weakness and some tremors on my right hand so I went to a neurologist who decided to ran some tests. He said everything was ok and that I should improve in a coule of.months. it didn't happened.
So I went to another neurologist who suggested it might be myasthenia gravis, but my symptoms didn't check: -Fatigue, tremors on right hand and left leg, double vision, trouble swallowing food and general weakness. Either way, she decided to prescribe me Mestinon and Prednisone. I started with 2 pills every 12 hours, and now Iam taking 1 every four hours. Got some other tests done and finally a thymoma showed up on a scan. This whole process has made me really anxious, and Iam not sure if I'll ever recover. I already saw a surgeon and he suggested to have a Vats thymectomy, anyone here has been thru this kind of surgery? How long did it take for full recovery? What should I expect from it?
Weβre going over the neurons system now and I previously learned that the thymus gland is one of the sites for maturation of T-cells. Wouldnβt that place the MG patient at risk for decreased immune response?
Edit: Myasthenia Gravis.
Hello! I am a 19yo and I was diagnosed with MG about a year ago. My CT scans showed a thymic hyperplasia (forgot the exact dimensions but not very big) and my neuro recommended me for a thymectomy almost immediately. Well, it was an option and I thought "Why not?" So, here I am just over a year of appointments and planning later. I'll be getting my thymus removed by VATS thymectomy in a few days and it will be my first ever surgery. I don't really know what to expect so I could use some tips on what to pack for the hospital stay, staying comfortable during recovery, or things I should talk to the medical team about before the operation. Oh, I also was not given a spirometer so I'm kinda worried about how my lungs will fare :/ I'd appreciate any type of advice!
Update: My surgery got pushed back about 3 weeks but I've finally gotten it done! My phrenic nerve was injured when they attempted VATS, so the surgeon switched to sternotomy and I had my chest cracked open. It has been 3 days since my op and I'm feeling much better (especially with a chest binder on). My symptoms are still pretty much under control other than having a weak voice from intubation. I can't wait to be back in the comfort of my own home!
I had a successful thymectomy 3 weeks ago. I'm still a little sore and scream at my kids "I'm having chest pains" because I really am. When and how should I/ would I start to notice a trigger of remission effect? I'm still taking Mestonin all day. I haven't hit the gym or anything like that because I'm still sore and tired.
Hi all,
For a couple months now, my thymus has been growing, and it lit up on a recent PET scan (no activity anywhere else, just my thymus). I finished ABVD for Hodgkin's about 18 months ago, so my onc says the three possibilities are thymic rebound (benign enlargement that sometimes happens post-chemo), thymic cancer, or lymphoma relapse in my thymus.
Anyway, they want to schedule me for a thymectomy, and I was wondering if anyone else has any experience with this? (Or with thymic rebound in general.) Not super psyched to be put under, but it's minimally invasive and means I get a break from constant scans.
Thanks! Wishing you all the best.
I'm 22 and having a thymectomy in a few days. I'm worried about the post operation part of it such as not being able to sleep. I'm actually taking the robotic thymectomy route but was wondering if anyone who has done this could give me any tips at all to help me out. Cheers guys!
I was diagnosed "formally" and have been taking Mestonin for 6/7 years now. I'm finally going in for a thymectomy in a week and I'm both scared and excited. What can I expect? Hopes of remission? I want my old life back.
I know someone who is uninsured who will likely require a thymectomy. I know there is a lot involved including costs of tests, hospital stay, potential complications, type of thymectomy, etc. I just want an approximate cost or any real information or resource. I am having a very hard time finding any information online. Thank you
I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
Do your worst!
I'm surprised it hasn't decade.
For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.
I said "hey look, an escaPEA"
No one near me but it didn't half make me laugh for a good hour or so!
Edit: I can't believe how much this has blown up. Thank you everyone I've had a blast reading through the replies π

BamBOO!
Dad jokes are supposed to be jokes you can tell a kid and they will understand it and find it funny.
This sub is mostly just NSFW puns now.
If it needs a NSFW tag it's not a dad joke. There should just be a NSFW puns subreddit for that.
Edit* I'm not replying any longer and turning off notifications but to all those that say "no one cares", there sure are a lot of you arguing about it. Maybe I'm wrong but you people don't need to be rude about it. If you really don't care, don't comment.
When I got home, they were still there.
What did 0 say to 8 ?
" Nice Belt "
So What did 3 say to 8 ?
" Hey, you two stop making out "
I won't be doing that today!

This morning, my 4 year old daughter.
Daughter: I'm hungry
Me: nerves building, smile widening
Me: Hi hungry, I'm dad.
She had no idea what was going on but I finally did it.
Thank you all for listening.
There hasn't been a post all year!
