will the new generation of kids who are learning computer science during school make it harder for the people with no computer science degree to get a job/keep their job when those kids get older?

I hope this isn't a stupid question. It seems to be increasingly more common for children to learn computer science from a younger age in their school. I think this is incredibly awesome and honestly definitely needed considering how tech savvy our society is turning.

But, will this have a negative effect for the people who work in tech or are planning to work in tech who don't have a computer science degree?

Who were some major contributors to the third generation of computers?

I'm currently having to do a slideshow for a computer science class where I need to go over the 5 generations of computers with stuff like what was the big thing that started it, the software of the generation, and the major contributors to the generation. However, I am stuck on the contributors for the third generation. For the other two I have found many people that contributed something, but for some reason I can barely find anyone for the third. The only people that I could find were the creators of the integrated circuit.

Does anybody out there have any information on these elusive people that I can't seem to find?

/r/retrogaming Survivor - Third Generation of Computers: Revolution. Round 1!

#POLL

#About Survivor

Okay, so here's what we're gonna do for fun for the foreseeable future. We're going to do a round of survivor every few days.

We did this by console generation for consoles first. We did handheld generations. Now we're finally on to retro computer eras. Then we'll pit the winners of all three against each other. In the end we'll determine what /r/retrogaming's favorite game machine is.

#How it works:

  1. Vote for the computer that you want eliminated.
  2. Make your predictions or announce your choice in the comments thread. Feel free to make an argument for your vote.

#About this round:

/u/RAKtheUndead and /r/retrogaming mods have been working on this list for a while. We're starting with early home computers that have some gaming cred and that were practical. They were found in homes. While we considered a lot of computers for this round, we feel that these are the most significant.

#Have the games:

  • IBM PC & compatibles (EGA, MS-DOS, & Windows 1.0 * 2.x)
  • Apple Macintosh (68k)
  • Commodore Amiga (OCS & ECS)

Which third generation coins are you investing on?

I met my boss a few weeks ago for the first time in real life and after seeing him secretly checking Coinbase I decided to ask if he has any advice/tips, apparently he is all the way into the third generation and I’m still a bit confuse over what that means and which coins could be considered part of that wave.

In my head I’ve always seen Bitcoin as first gen, Ethereum as second and cardano/solana like coin as third generation but I’m not sure if I based that in anything other than my own opinion.

Ps.: Lately I started having a look at CRO, UNI and MATIC to understand their projects so if you have any other coin that has picked up your interest do share!

12th Generation Intel: Pre-included CPU cooler VS third-party CPU coolers

I remember how my prehistoric i7-4790K had its own cooler in the box back in 2K14, back to my first-ever build. Now (at last) I'm building my second-ever build on a shiny ASUS TUF GAMING Z690-PLUS D4. Being used to a good ethernet connection, I opted for the non-Wi-Fi version.

My questions are as much based on ignorance and curiosity as on budget VS value.

Performance-wise, should I opt for a CPU independently of what I find included in the box, or should I look for one that has its own cooler from Intel?

What budget (but good) coolers are you using that fit in a Corsair 4000D Mid-Tower for your 12th Generation bad boys?

i5 or i7 for maxing 4K casual gaming? I read that the i5 set is more than valid.

We did this by console generation for consoles first. We did handheld generations. Now we're finally on to retro computer eras. Then we'll pit the winners of all three against each other. In the end we'll determine what /r/retrogaming's favorite game machine is.
