Just a quick post letting everyone know that the game is now available for purchase, along with a few goodies and a reduced launch price. I highly recommend it, never thought Tetris would be one of my top 3 2018 games but then this came out. I will update this post with a further review once I'm done playing through journey mode again.
Okay, so let me explain this in the best way I can. Obviously the battle royale scene is huge. There is no denying that no matter how much we cannot stand battle royale games. However, I love what the developers did with Tetris 99. Tetris 99 may have re-shaped how future developers look at battle royale because of what Tetris 99 was able to do.
Call of Duty Blackout, Fortnite, and Apex have one thing in common. They are all shooters. Shooting games do not appeal to everyone, maybe to a good amount of the gaming community, but not to everyone. So with Nintendo and the development team that created Tetris 99, by taking a classic game and adding the new twist of battle royale, it wouldn't surprise me if a few more companies attempted to do this with games that aren't shooters. Does anyone else feel this way or is it just me?
Well, it's going to be a blockbuster.
I've seen like a dozen posts already about people being concerned about how Tetris Effect will run VR since it's on the EGS and not on Steam. Games made to run SteamVR launch SteamVR no matter where you get them; just go download a few things from itch.io if you want confirmation or check back on the tons of posts about Subnautica when it was free on EGS a few months back. Same thing with Oculus, if it's made to run Oculus then it will run through Oculus no matter where you got it (which is why you'll get a prompt for SteamVR vs Oculus version for some Steam games and stuff like that; doesn't lock you to the Steam version even though you're using Steam). You won't need to download anything extra or run some different VR software layer, nothing to worry about.
