A list of puns related to "Tdap Vaccine"
This is a judgement free discussion! Im just genuinely curious on your reasoning. Please no mom/parent shaming in the comments.
Iβm 32 weeks pregnant and just got my TDAP through my OB. My husband and I donβt have a family doctor and the KFLAPH website says they are not booking immunizations right now for anyone unless itβs a routine immunization appointment, mostly for kids. My husband needs to get his TDAP. Anyone know where else in Kingston he can get this?
I recently spoke to a nurse who said itβs good for him to get it again but everything I am reading online says the CDC recommends to only get it once if you got it less than 10 years ago . Waiting to hear back from my doc but wondering if anyone has asked this yet and knows. Thanks for any leads
I need to get my tDAP vaccine updated for work (in veterinary medicine) but it appears WDG health unit has suspended appointments due to COVID. I have not been able to get a family doctor so far- any suggestions?
I got my tdap on Wednesday then my Flu and covid vaccinations today. They put the flu shot in the same arm that got the tdap. It is so sore I can barely lift or move it without wincing. Which also makes hoisting my roundness from the seated position a bit painful. For all you Mamas planning to get these in the future, I recommend getting these vaccines further apart.
This afternoon I went up get my TDAP booster from my primary care physician. I'm 28 weeks along on my first pregnancy, my midwife told me to go schedule one, so off I went. I'm in NY, where we've been very on top of vaccines both for COVID and in general, just to give some context.
Something really weird happened at the appointment: I had my vitals checked by a nurse I'd never met before. After, I met with the doctor briefly, and went over what I needed (even though I had told the nurse and left a written request on my file). She steps out and comes back with the same nurse. The nurse then informs me they won't be giving me the vaccine because, based on her "personal experience," it's not safe. I ask her and my doctor what risks is she talking about, and my doctor just silently gestured to the nurse. The nurse says "based on my experience it's not good for the baby this far along." My doctor chimes in that if I come with a prescription from my obgyn (despite me explaining I am with a midwife multiple times), they will give me the shot. This is nothing to do with any current health issues - it appears they just don't want to give pregnant women the booster.
I checked the CDC and the only info I can find is how the TDAP with benefit the baby. I am strictly pro-science and pro-vaccines. I'm going to call my midwife tomorrow to double check in not crazy here.
I plan on calling the HMO this doctor is in to report the incident - is that out of line? If not, is there somewhere else I should call? I'm worried this practice isn't treating pregnant patients correctly, and possibly spreading anti-vaccine misinformation. I don't even know how to approach why the doctor was talking the nurse's lead in giving medical care.
Ok first and foremost, my partner and I are NOT anti-vaxx. We are both fully vaccinated for Covid and had all of our vaccines as kids. Iβm currently 7 months pregnant, Iβm getting care from a midwife and my goal is to birth at her birth center. So far we have enjoyed seeing her and appreciate her extensive knowledge, she is very evidence-based. However, on my last appt I asked if I would be getting the TDAP vaccine (since every pregnant woman who sees their OB seems to get the flu/TDAP vaccine in the third trimester). Her answer did not sit well with me, she said βyou know my answer to thatβ which I didnβt so I asked well can you elaborate. She said she doesnβt recommend her patients to get neither the flu shot nor the TDAP shot during pregnancy. I donβt think she has openly told us but we got the idea that she is just anti-vax in general. When we told her I had gotten the Covid vaccine she was not happy. I got the first dose of the Covid vaccine BEFORE I even knew I was pregnant and when it was time to get the second dose I already knew I was pregnant and decided to just get the second dose and fully protect myself. Baby and I are completely healthy since then (got the vaccine in March). My question is, should I follow the advice (or lack of) from my midwife not to get the TDAP vaccine while pregnant? I had heard somewhere that you could also just get the vaccine after birth, but I havenβt found much research on the effectiveness of that. Any tips/advice is appreciated!
I got one with my son about 18 months ago and I'm nearing 7 months with this current pregnancy. Is it every pregnancy or is there set time between doses?
My dr told me that for anyone that wants to be near baby she suggest to get that vaccine, so Iβve made everyone get it :-) anyone else?
Hey Everyone...just started following this sub about 2 months ago. My wife and I are expecting our first child next month and have to say, love all the nursery photos. It has given us great inspiration.
Feeling pretty let down from my own parents recently. So our OBGYN & pediatrician (via Zoom meet & greet) said that anyone who wants to hold the baby and spend considerable amount of time with them in the first 3 months should get their TDAP and Flu vaccines. Additionally, they should get their Covid booster when it's time. I communicated this to my dad initially and he said no problem, he would get them done.
My mom on the other hand, ended up giving me some insight into her stance on vaccines that, at 38 years old, had never known before. She also told me she lied on my school records about my vaccination status so I really don't know what I am vaccinated for. It's not that she is 100% anti...she did get the Covid vaccine. But she said she is scared of them and what they can potentially cause. Most likely due from complete shock, I said if you want to see our baby, you need to get those. Otherwise no visits. All she could come back with is "I respect your decision and hope you can respect mine".
I just got married 3 years ago and since then, my parents have been asking us when we are going to have kids. Now one is finally on the way, she doesnt want to do what we ask. Are we over the top? What have you all done? Are we normal?
Thanks.
Hi all,
Ahead of my due date, I wanted to just pop in and make sure everyone is up to date with their TDAP (tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis) vaccinations.
Pertussis (whooping cough) is a serious and sometimes deadly respiratory illness that infants under 6 months are especially susceptible to. If you plan on wanting to meet this kiddo, Iβd love if you could make sure youβre up to date! (This is good for you too! π) If youβve had a booster in the last 10 years, youβre all set!
Baby will get some immunity from me receiving my booster during pregnancy, but the more protection the better!
Thanks all!
I am in college and require several vaccines. I tested positive for immunity to MMR, Hep B, Varicella, and TB. My primary physician said that he doesn't test for TDap. He also said that he doesn't test for Meningococcal disease. I apparently need a Tdap Titer and a test for meningococcal immunity. Where are these provided?
Hi All, I'm hoping you might be able to point me in the right direction for some information about GB and the TDAP vaccine.
A little background, my mom had GB in the 70's after receiving the swine flu vaccine. She was paralyzed for several months but, thankfully, made a complete recovery. Since then she has been very hesitant to take vaccines, though she is by no means an anti-vaxxer, quite the opposite. In fact, she took the Pfizer vaccine after talking to several specialists and had zero issues.
Fast forward, I'm pregnant with my first child and her first grandchild. We're very close and obviously I'd like her to be around after I give birth. We are both trying to do research to see what risks are involved for her getting the TDAP vaccine. She had it once before when she was very young with no negative impacts and her doctor is very for her getting it.
I'm hoping this community may have some resources for research or studies in terms of the TDAP and GB. Obviously, I'd never do anything to force my mom to get something that could legitimately harm her. I completely respect the fact that the idea can be terrifying to her for legitimate reasons. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't anxious about it as well. But on the flip side of that, I have to be cautious and protect my child as well, even if that means keeping her away the first 3 months of his life until he can get vaccinated.
Thank you for your time and any advice or resources you might be able to point my way!
Hi all
How is the TDAP vaccine called in france?
Tdap stands for tetanus (T), diphtheria, (D), and acellular pertussis (aP).
I am taking of the triple vaccine for: tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis (whooping cough).
What is the cost ?
Anyone have a difficult day after getting the Tdap vaccine? I got mine yesterday and everything was fine. I ate almost the same things today, but my lunch and dinner numbers were both high.
Right around lunch time I was struck pretty hard with side effects from the vaccine. Seeing higher numbers in back to back meals was such a shock to me. I've been doing really well diet controlled.
Hi, I am a young woman with no medical issues that could prevent me from getting vaccinated against COVID. I am not an anti-vaxxer. But, I have been very reluctant to get the COVID vaccine, as I had a severe allergic reaction to other vaccines in the past. My doctor (last time I saw her, about a year ago) said I shouldnβt risk it. But Iβve been pretty scared of COVID. I have been considering more and more if I should get vaccinated in the safety of a hospital, and wait 4 hours or so there. I know they could administer epinephrine to calm any severe allergies. Is this a good idea? Would it be not worth the risk of anaphylaxis, even in a hospital setting? I am worried about some of the long term symptoms of COVID, and despite having no pre existing health risks, I am terrified of COVID.
What the fuck? Everyone else Iβve talked to has said itβs one of the most important things to get the TDAP as a pregnant woman. They told me I have to go through my PCP, the only issue is I just got new insurance in a new state. I donβt have a PCP that I chose, my insurance assigned me one. Indont know anything about him. Should I schedule an appointment with him and get a TDAP? Iβm 30+4 today. Should I just go to a CVS and try to get one through them? Iβm so confused lol. When do I even need to get it???
I need a tdap booster I learned not too long ago I never received as a kid so I can get a hold taken off of my MyPack account and sign up for classes. Can they give me this booster at the student health clinic?
My(30) doctor has recommended that myself and everyone whoβs going to be around the baby should have the TDAP vaccine. Which Iβve read is pretty standard. Everyone is willing except my dadβ¦ we are very close and this just really surprised me. My dad(56) is very anti vaccine and has a lot of QANON ways of thinking(no offense) i respect his political views and really his views on everything and we never really talk about them, but today we did have a talk about the TDAP and he WENT OFF. He refuses to get itβ¦ and itβs really just ridiculous, this is such a basic request and Iβm solely thinking of whatβs best for my child. Itβs also so weird because my little brother(17) had pertussis when he was 8mo and almost died because he wasnβt vaccinated because my step mom was using meth while pregnant and breastfeeding!! So i really assumed he would be the first one to understand why i want to protect my baby from it. He said a lot of rude and ignorant crap and Iβm just so upset, i wont allow him around my baby until my doctor says sheβs safeβ¦ and that breaks my heart this is his first grandchild but i see where his priorities are. Iβve read so many posts here about family refusing to get a vaccine and i idiotically thought there was no way my family would react this way.

They said it's slightly painful for them to look into screens and they recently took the tDap and flu vaccines. Thanks!
If Iβve had my tetanus shot would that have been TDap? I see a lot of people say they donβt want people who havenβt had this vaccine around their baby. Is that specifically because of pertussis? Is this a vaccine most of us got in childhood? How often do you have to get it?
Iβm 28 weeks, due April 16. Today I sent preliminary texts around notifying friends & family that we will be asking them to take the COVID vaccine as well as the TDAP. I feel like a huge weight is lifted off my shoulders even though 90% of my family didnβt respond. In a family full of either Trumpsters or hippies (weβre from Southern California) this seems like the best case scenario. Expecting a full on war from my mom who is vehemently anti-vax, but at least I asserted what my husband and I require to keep our baby healthy, so I feel proud. Just wanted to share. :)
Brigham and Womenβs Hospital conducted an analysis to measure the response of T cells from MMR and Tdap vaccines that could help to decrease COVID-19 severity.
So I was highly encouraged by my obgyn to get the TDap vaccine now that Iβm 36 weeks . My arm is in severe pain , I can barely lift it up . Has anyone else had a similar experience with this vaccine ?
Question about the Tdap vaccine coming from an American living in the UK. In the US (from what Iβve read and experienced with pregnant friends) pediatricians recommend that any visitors (and I assume this includes dads as well) to get the Tdap vaccine if they are going to be coming into contact with the newborn.
Iβve gotten the vaccine in the UK while pregnant, and asked about getting my husband vaccinated against it as well, but they said they donβt offer it to dads as the baby gets the antibodies from the mom in utero (which does make sense). But then why would doctors in the US insist that visitors get vaccinated if itβs not necessary protection for the baby? I feel uneasy about the fact that my husband canβt get it.
Anyone have any more info on this?
So I am 23 weeks pregnant. I will be eligible to receive TDAP June 10th onward (27 weeks) until the end of my pregnancy (first week of September) per my OBβs instructions. I plan on getting it.
Due to todayβs changes in CDC mask guidance I am out of denial that I can keep myself in a bubble with my heavy PPE at work etc. and have decided to get the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine now instead of after baby as I planned.
If I were to get Pfizer I want to conservatively pace the shots apart from TDAP. From what Iβve heard of others who have gotten their vaccines, the technicians ask many questions such as βhave you recently or are you planning to get any other vaccines at this time?β
Now I donβt know if thatβs because youβre not SUPPOSED to get them too close together with other vaccines or if they just want to know to keep records. I guess my question now is when to get my shots.
FYI I plan on collecting ALL the information that I can on this so thatβs where you all come in. I left voicemails today for: My OB, my one year oldβs pediatrician, and my general practitioner. I may even call the hotline. But I still want all the points of view that I can gather on this in order to make an informed decision. Anyone want to help me?
UPDATE: Thank you all for the great input. I spoke with my doctors and took everyoneβs advice and was able to get my first dose of Covid vaccine yesterday. (Lots of teens were there which is really great to see!) I will get my next shot and then have plenty of time to follow up with TDAP. Drinking lots of water and a bit of unflavored pedialyte per the nurseβs tip to avoid any aches. So far no fever at all and just a little soreness of the arm.
A huge thank you to all of you who helped me not feel so alone in this. Itβs scary to be pregnant right now.
I'm getting my 2nd Moderna shot on 4/20. Today my doctor said I should get my Tdap at my next appointment on 4/30. I asked if I should be waiting 2 weeks after my second COVID shot and she said she "didn't know". (Ugh, helpful.) Correct me if I'm wrong,, but my understanding was that the CDC was recommending 2 weeks between the COVID-19 vaccine and other vaccines.
Anybody else have a Dr say it would be okay to get a Tdap shot within 2 weeks after a COVID shot?
To clarify, her "I don't know" was more of a "I haven't looked into it" than it was a "there isn't enough info out there to be sure." I find that slightly apathetic and frustrating.
Edit/update: Thank you all for answering! Sounds like most have been advised 2-4 week wait after 2nd shot, with one responder who also had a doc say 10 days was acceptable. Since I have time on my side, I will go ahead and wait till my week 34 appt to get my Tdap - that will be just over 3 weeks after my second COVID shot.
Hello ladies!
Anyone in Canada who is waiting 4 months in between their vaccines? My dr told me to get the vaccine and Iβm at 13 weeks right now. I wanted to wait until 16 weeks for vaccine but Iβm scared it might be pushing it for my due date in November. Any advice or suggestions are much appreciated.
Just wondering if anyone else has had issues with timing the COVID vaccine? I had called my primary care doctorβs office to schedule the first vaccination about a month ago when it was announced that Iβd qualify for the 1B category that was starting to become eligible for it, but they didnβt schedule me for the vaccine until yesterday (and it wasnβt available elsewhere).
So now Iβm scheduled to get the first shot this week, at 27 weeks. I was originally scheduled to get my TDAP shot at 28 weeks at my OBβs, but now my primary care doc is saying I shouldnβt get it until 2 weeks after I complete my second COVID shotβassuming I can get that one scheduled 4 to 6 weeks after my first shot, that puts me at 33 to 35 weeks when I can finally get my TDAP shot.
Iβm worried about this because I delivered my son at 36 weeks (no apparent reason, water just broke early while sleeping), and OB has said she wouldnβt be surprised at all if this one comes even earlier. I really want this baby to have a chance to get both immunities, but itβs almost like I have to choose? Are there moms out there who werenβt able to get their TDAP in time before baby came?
Anyway Iβm crossing fingers, and just a reminder to keep actively bugging your doctor or checking local vaccination sign-ups if you want both COVID and TDAP vaccines! Timing can get tight around 3rd trimester!
I know baby still has a while to turn but I feel like the term βbreechβ is so scary sounding so I just got a little nervous when they told me that. They also couldnβt see all 4 chambers of his heart so they have to do another ultrasound in 3 weeks but his heartbeat was 155bpm so the doctor wasnβt worried at all. I asked her about getting the covid vaccine and she strongly supports it so I will getting it ASAP! She also told me that Iβll get the TDAP vaccine 2 weeks after my second covid dose so Iβm happy to be getting all of that to protect my baby as best as I can. Overall, a good appointment and Iβm excited now because Iβm going from appointments every 4 weeks to 3 weeks and that means Iβm getting closer to meeting my son!!!πππ
