Sequence Stratigraphy Thought
Is there a scenario where LST deposits could be overlain by FSST deposits? I keep mulling over this and I canβt decide if itβs possible or not.

WHY add an insert?? Trying to determine why this polychrome sculpture had 3 inches added to it. The addition does not exhibit the same cracking/paint stratigraphy and is not the same material. Has anyone seen anything similar to this/have any insights? Thanks! :)

Roughly 12,500 years ago there was a massive extinction event in North America, leaving a layer of ash in the stratigraphy that is so widespread across the continent that there is a theory it must have been caused by an impact from space. How did peopleβs lives change? How did they survive?

By the way, as a result of the bad attitudes of the overly critical moderators I left this subreddit after this post. I think itβs clear this is all about their egos and not discussions of the science of Archaeology here. Iβm quite sorry to see that. The culture of Archaeology has too many critics and not enough βdoers.β Iβm proud to be a doer and not an armchair critic type of archaeologist. Thatβs why Iβve stood out in the fields of the British Isles, in 4 feet of mud to do Archaeology in Winter. Iβm not about just making a name for myself telling others they are wrong (or forcing my opinion of what is βproblematicβ and what isnβt). This isnβt the place for determining the end-all-be-all of Archaeology, this is REDDIT!!! This is where we should I be openminded, not cutting each otherβs ideas down.

Could an earth-bender with finetuned seismic sense be able to detect changes in stratigraphy layers?
With the new Avatar RPG release, I thought of a character who was an earth-bending archaeologist (Indiana Jones, not Jurrasic park). Archaeologists often excavate in levels based on stratigraphy layers. For example, if they have a 1mx1m square then they'll excavate all of the top layers, write stuff down and then move down to the next layer. If the earth bender had a very finetuned seismic sense, would they be able to tell the difference between a sandy layer of earth and a layer that was more clay-like? If the vibrations were traveling differently through the layers, I think they would be able to but I would like to hear what you guys think. Also, do you think they would be able to detect artifacts in the ground?

good books about paleoecology/-stratigraphy or micropaleontology?
heyo! first post here and on reddit in general.
I'm currently at the beginning of general geology studies but definitely want to specify in paleo. So far the only specifics at my University (I know of) are, in order of my interest in them (most to least):
Paleoecology, Paleostratigraphy (iIrc) and Micropaleontology
are there any good books about those topics you could suggest? Maybe even in german (my mothertongue)? ^^
I'm heavily interested in paleontology but more into the zoology side instead of the general and my knowledge is yet on a hobby-level
btw fav-dino is Parasaurolophus <3
