A list of puns related to "Steinburg"
Hi, I'm looking to upgrade my audio interface. I have a really old MAudio Mobile Pre USB. It's been many years so I'm sure there are definitely better models out. I've been looking at the Steinburg UR44 and Steinburg UR-RT4, but the problem is that I don't know how to compare interfaces.
My MAudio interface is 16-bit/48kHz, and the Steinburg ones are 24-bit/192kHz so clearly that's an improvement, but both Steinburg interfaces have those stats. So what else am I supposed to be looking for and comparing? What makes one 4-input audio interface better than another? How can I tell what will minimize background hum/buzz? Is there a guide that breaks all this down for people?
Thanks!
I'm looking for a USB audio interface through three different options mostly under a $100 and not a lot of ports through a dynamic mic - Focusrite Scarlett Second Gen, Steinburg UR12 and a Presonus USB audio interface since I prefer the XLR sound over the USB mike.
If you have any other recommendations besides those three that aren't Behringer because those have too much self noise along with experiences with all three listed or other, list below, thanks.
Note, I am a very low speaker and require a lot of gain, so if it's possible if there's less self noise the higher the gain on the interface, list below
I noticed that when I plugged my microbrute into channels 1 or 2, the signal was about twice as loud as when plugged into channels 3 or 4 (all preamp gains were set to same level). Also, when I plug my tr-03 into channels 3, 4, 5, or 6, I can only hear the effects (I can only hear the reverb or delay, but not the dry signal. So if I turn down delay on the tr03, I hear nothing through the interface). Actually, if I plug the cable just partially in, I can hear the dry signal, but when plugged in fully it disappears and I can only hear the effects.
Ableton audio input config shows 1-6 on in mono, out 1/2 in stereo and mono, although I've tried different combos.
What's going on?! I know you smart folk can bail me out here.
Possible? I've tried everything I could think of, and I've tried to look this up in the manual and google...nothing is working. I can hear the effects, but I'm getting terrible quality and lots of feedback.
I have a Kong playing samples. In my UR44 I have outputs 3&4 routed into a stereo delay (DD7) into a stereo reverb (HoF2) and then the outputs of the pedals into the UR44 inputs 3&4.
I've tried connecting the Kong directly to the audio outputs 3&4 inside Reason with no improvement, and also tried routing everything as a send/return inside reason as well, with no luck. I feel like I'm missing something super simple...
Only thing I can think of is that there is some setting in the software for the UR44 (dspMixFix) that isn't set up correctly, or something...
Any ideas?
*SOLVED! For anyone having this issue; ( Keep in mind, I'm using channels 3&4 in&outs to make this work on the UR44, not sure if/how this works for other UR units ) Open dspMixFix mixer software that comes with your unit. On the "Mix 2" tab, mute channels 3&4, they are causing the feedback loop!
Thanks so much to the commenters below for helping me narrow down the issue to my interface software! VERY much appreciated!*
I wrote a letter to the members of the NC General Assembly to express my displeasure with the recent actions of that deliberative body. I used a link someone posted that provided the email addresses of every Senator and Representative. I got the general "thank you for your comments" responses that I expected. The longest response came from Rep. Bob Steinburg (R-District 1- oddly shaped district of Franklin/Nash Counties). I wondered how people would respond to it.
>Thank you for your letter regarding House Bill 2: Public Facilities Privacy and Security Act. The reason for the actions taken by the General Assembly last Wednesday is really quite simple. Charlotte neither had the statutory nor the constitutional authority to enact the ordinance they did. North Carolina is a βDillonβs Ruleβ state, which basically means that the state has unlimited power, except for restrictions under the state and/or federal constitution, however, municipalities have only the powers that are expressly granted to them. Charlotte broke the law when they passed their local ordinance, which, without any intervention from the state, would have gone into effect on April 1st. This legislation is not only directed at Charlotte, but all municipalities that may be considering taking action on matters that they do not have the authority to. House Bill 2 passed the North Carolina House on a strong bipartisan vote of 82-26.

So I'm very new to this and just purchased a ur22. I've been messing around and experimenting for a day now and I've determined my only issue is the live headphone output volume of the instrument you are playing. From my understanding, the idea behind the input daw knob is to sync the recorded volume with the live volume so you can easily understand how your instrument will sound in the recording. The problem is, with my instrument volume at max, the headphone dial at max, AND my headset volume at max, it is pretty quiet. Im forced to use gain to hear my instrument which is not ideal. Sorry for the long text. Hopefully someone might be able to help me out.
EDIT: so just to make things clearer, my recorded volume is just fine and easily adjustable using my computer's microphone volume/ microphone boost/ or software. My live volume to match that recorded volume is on max settings and is a tad too quiet.
