On the way to the company Richter-Helm Biologics in Bovenau (Rendsburg-Eckernförde district), guests pass fields, cows and small forests. Probably few visitors come up with the idea during the journey that state-of-the-art technology is used here in an inconspicuous building complex - and that a novel corona vaccine is being worked on. This is supposed to make the human body immune to the coronavirus. Unlike other providers who administer an mRNA vaccine, for example, Richter-Helm Biologics works with pDNA, plasmid DNA. This contains the information on how the human body can produce its own mRNA.

Infectiologist Rupp: DNA vaccines are more stable and robust

The new active ingredient from Bovenau is exciting and promising for Professor Jan Rupp, director of the Department of Infectiology and Microbiology at the UKSH location in Lübeck. However, the doctor also makes it clear: "As with any technology, there will always be advantages and disadvantages. This has to do with the effectiveness of vaccination, but also with side effects." At the same time, he also makes it clear that it is a matter of having a practical and stable vaccine: "You expect a lot from the DNA vaccines because they are more stable and robust. And we want to get to the vaccines vaccinated by general practitioners like any other vaccine as soon as possible." The mRNA vaccine must be stored very cold and should only be kept for 60 days. None of this is the case with the DNA vaccine from Bovenau. So the handling is correspondingly easier.

Possibly a new type of vaccination

The vaccine is missing everywhere, and if 60 vaccine doses are vaccinated daily in Rendsburg-Eckernförde, it will take until 2033 to serve all residents.

The failure of the EU in purchasing the vaccine is one thing. The consideration for the French when purchasing the vaccine is another. Saving on vaccination doses is the next thing - while hundreds of billions are being thrown out for state aid. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.

Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
