I recently observed the hiring practices of a short line railroad in my area. Apparently, they don’t hire anyone who uses tobacco products. And I quote “we view nicotine as an illicit substance” how is this possible? Clearly it can’t be that way for all railroads. Absolute disgrace.

The Transcontinental Railroad passed through Bryan, Wyoming in 1868. Today it is a ghost town. In the satellite view is what is left of an obvious bridge over the Blacks Fork River. Is that from the original Union Pacific Line?

With some clever planning, using the current railroad in UB for east-west metro line seems like a no brainer move. Why does no one talk about it? Could serve as a proof of concept and other lines can be extended from it. Am I missing something that makes it non viable?

Baby’s first cup! I found it in Gifford, Iowa, one of Iowa’s living ghost towns. Gifford was a railroad town it had four lines with several hotels , brothels and taverns. Today there are half a dozen open pit mines but no railroads. Note the simple stripe design. Not a wealthy family.

Hypothetical dick-ish but efficient advice: install a hi-rail kit on your vehicle and travel on C-Train lines to avoid road traffic (mount and dismount at railroad crossings)
