A list of puns related to "Scoby"
I'm in dire need of some scoby puns. Seems like you would be the kind of people to think of those. So far I have "Scoby-Wan Kenobi" and "Scoby-Doby Doo."
Hey!
I've got it on my mind to make kombucha. The Kombucha brands in India all charge 150 for a 300ml bottle which is ludicrous.
I already make a decent Ice tea and I would love to have other nice home made beverages. So yeah. Anyone try this? Spot me a scoby?
I've brewed my own Kombucha with success, but I haven't drunk alcohol for over two years, and I instantly sense alcohol when drinking anything even with a low amount. The homemade versions of kombucha tend to always have some amount of alcohol that I feel, therefore I can't drink it. I tried the storebought ones and I don't really feel the alcohol in them, so I like to drink those, but it's way too expensive of habit to sustain. I've eaten my own homebrewed scobies from my kombucha batches and I don't feel any alcohol when I eat them, so I was wondering if the scobies contain the same benefits as drinking the kombucha liquid itself. In this way, I would get the possible benefits of drinking Kombucha, without having to worry about the alcohol. Your thoughts?
The top of my scoby got a little dried on one side of it (see pic). I think it is fine, and NOT mold. But I just wanted to verify that. Thank you!

I will leave for 6 weeks straight and I would like to hear some recommendations to maintain the quality of it.
I will definitely feed it before I leave with a lot of sugar but what else can I do?
Big thx in advance
I recently Lost my scoby hotel to mold so now I'm starting over and I'm growing one from store-bought kombucha, I'd like to know if there's a way to long-term store for a rainy day in case I need to start over again.
Ps thanks in advance for any replies.
I'm new to Kombucha brewing. A new Scoby colony was forming in my brewing, but I foolishly thought it was bad mold and threw it away.
Is there gonna be another opportunity for a new Scoby colony to grow? If so, when and/or how?
Hey I have recently started brewing kombucha.
I'm currently on my third batch.
I started off with 100mL starter liquid and a scoby from a local brewery.
Made 1L with that, saved 200mL as starter liquid for my second batch.
Made 2L with that, then saved another 400mL as starter liquid for my third batch to make another 4L.
Whilst brewing the third batch I noticed that I had too much liquid for my 4L container, so I decided to dump 3 liters into one vat and another liter into another.
Then I realised I had to split up my pellicle, so I did and put a small part in the 1L vat, and a bigger part in the 3L vat.
Now my third batch has been sitting in my kitchen cabinet for the last week, and both vases are, as expected, growing some more pellicle. But I have noticed that both vases now have pellicles that are smaller than my original starter scoby kit provided.
Both have a very thin layer of pellicle on top. I'm thinking I may have done something wrong here because the first and second batch grew a much more visible, thicker layer.
Should I be worried about this batch? Is the 3L vat going to take longer to brew because comparatively it has a smaller pellicle in it?
And what are some proper methods for removing the pellicle from my brew without breaking it up too much? (I think that's the reason why I ended up with two smaller pieces)
Thanks!
Iโm very excited to start brewing my own kombucha.
HOWEVER, I donโt want to use a starter tea nor an existing scoby.
Iโm having a hard time figuring out how to do this.
Can I just add yeast and/or lactic acid?
Please help me make my first brew!
Thanks! <3
Same.
